A belated hello from Madame Pamita
Hello everyone!
I've done a little reconnoitering around here for awhile and figured it was time to post an official hello!
I'm a longtime reader in Santa Monica, CA who also sells some Lucky Mojo products. You can check out my little display here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dimestore_ ... /lightbox/
Look forward to more interaction with all of you!

Re: A belated hello from Madame Pamita
Thanks so much, Miss Michaele! I love the old jugband, rural blues, gospel blues, mountain music and proto-jazz of the early part of the last century! That music speaks to my soul! It's nice to know there are others who get what this music is about too!MissMichaele wrote:Welcome, Madame Pamita! I'm looking forward to your contributions here and in the student Yahoo group.

Re: A belated hello from Madame Pamita
My parents loved it too, and opened a store that featured it -- old 78's, lots of Arhoolie reissues and discoveries (re-discoveries?) like Sleepy John Estes and Leadbelly; and my parents used to play guitar and banjo together while crooning everything from the old mountain gospel tunes to "Jay Gould's Daughter" (one of my favorites, for some reason, when I was in elementary school:Madame Pamita wrote:I love the old jugband, rural blues, gospel blues, mountain music and proto-jazz of the early part of the last century! All right, we're getting off topic now ...Jay Gould's daughter said, before she died,
"Father, fix the trains so the bums can't ride.
If ride they must, let 'em ride the rods;
Let 'em put their trust in the hands of God.")
