hello from Cornwall, uk
just dropping a line to say Hi.
I came here because I love the podcast, and It's teaching me so much.
I grew up fairly immersed in a UK traditional Witchcraft/Pantheist environment, and after many years feeling very secure in that, had New Orleans style Voodoo and Hoodoo kick my door down, basically. it always fascinated me, but for a long time I wouldn't reach out to the Lwa, as I've always been a bit uncomfortable with the way people will pick and choose from any culture. I felt I didn't have the cultural background to ask for their help, although I've always deep down felt they are very real.
when i finally reached out to them (when I was going through a tough time, and after the reassurance of a friend from Biloxi who knows a lot more about it all than I do. it's okay, just ask. only make sure you ask respectfully, it all worked out very well and very quickly, and I found a strong connection to Papa Legba, who now has a very beautiful shrine in my kitchen for the way he helped me out. and I love my shrine.
which then set me looking for Podcasts. I've always enjoyed podcasts. and the Lucky Mojo was one of the first ones I found, and I really enjoy it on a regular basis. I even take notes sometimes. it's wonderful.
and I'm here to see if the community is as lovely and warm and welcoming and sharing as the podcast makes it sound. I hope I can get to know you all, and maybe learn something too.
all the best.

Re: hello from Cornwall, uk
Hi there and welcome!
I work with many clients in the UK and it is definitely OK to just ask questions. While there are significant differences between folk magic traditions like Hoodoo and more the more European wortcunning traditions there are also some similarities that will probably resonate. I know that my UK folks always *get* the tradition of tying and knotting for instance!
Blessings,
Bri
