What is the best condiment to use on a candle when trying to spice things up sexually? Chili Powder? Red Hot Sauce? Suggestions?

Hello, maduro01,

That might chase them away as this is what it is used with hotfoot.

I don't know the ingredients in condiments and this is a thread about roots and herbs.

You might want to, instead, look at this guide and see what can help you: http://www.luckymojo.com/hoodooataglance.html

There might be something in your refrigerator that has one of these ingredients for lust.

Take care

In terms of parrot feathers do would Parakeet or cockatiel feathers work since they technically fall under the same family as a parrot or are only more 'traditionally' considered parrot feathers need Like ones from Macaws?

Beechdrops, pinedrops questions

Unread postby MarianneS » Wed Sep 23, 2015 9:33 am

(If this is a duplicate question, please chalk it up to my being new!) Having grown up in Oregon, I stumbled upon pinedrops (Pterospora andromedea) a couple of times in my youth. I was told not to pick them because they were very rare, but that old folk magic indicated that they could be used to locate and find treasure. I now live in northern Maryland near some woods that are mostly beech and oak trees. I found a host of beechdrops (Epifagus virginiana) yesterday, and since they are a similar parasitic plant, I wondered if there were recipes or spells in the hoodoo or Native American traditions that use beechdrops? They don't seem to be rare, so I am thinking that carefully wildcrafting a few stems would be okay.

I think there is one other similar parasitic plant in the U.S. like these that is known as Indian pipe, or ghost plant, or fairy smoke, and I may be getting these confused.

I leave it to the forum's great wisdom. Any advice? Thanks SO much!

Hello Youllneverknow,

This is a forum for advice on how to use Lucky Mojo products so unfortunately we can't advise on how to use items obtained elsewhere.

Thanks.

Hi MarianneS,

Welcome to the forum!

If you haven't already done so (and assuming you wish to), please introduce yourself in the Introductions thread.

This forum is for help and advice on using Lucky Mojo products, so unfortunately we won't be able to advise on the use of items obtained elsewhere. But it's very interesting that you have managed to wildcraft some promising items in the wild, and I wish you luck in finding a good use for them.

Just to follow-through on my question: I did find reference to beechdrops and treasure finding in Cat's "Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic," pages 99-101! It is listed under Gall of the Earth and several substitutes (which are carried by Lucky Mojo) are listed there. My area, which is heavily wooded with beech and oak trees, seems to be lousy with beechdrops, but considering how they grow, they could be easily decimated if over harvested. I just wildcrafted a few stalks. They certainly seem to work!

Hello everyone

I have been looking everywhere for a live plant of Devil's Bit and I haven't had much luck. But I recently found a nursery with a plant that resembles Devil's Bit a lot. The only information I can get for the plant is a label that says " #1 perennial Scabiosa". I would like to know if this plant is indeed Devil's Bit??

Thank you!

If you had a copy of my handy book, "Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic," you'd have the answer to that! LOL!

Yes, Scabious is Devil's Bit.

Buy the book -- it's worth it.

I recently used saffron in a spell, and it had me wondering why Lucky Mojo doesn't carry it. I searched the entire board index (including this thread), but I could only find FIVE mentions of it! On the entire board! To me, saffron is such a luxurious herb. It always conjures up images of indolent courtesans and inmeasurable wealth. I came to the forums hoping to see if there was any more information on this herb, but I found none.

Hi BeautifulWitch,

Saffron has a long tradition in European love spells. You could add it to your spells or cooking for love or sexuality.

Here is Lucky Mojo's wonderful page on cooking with magical herbs:

I hope this helps. Good luck.
