What Are The Best Days To Begin Performing Job Spells?

Unread post by maduro01 » Thu Sep 16, 2010 11:45 am

I have a Bayberry Candle and a Steady Work Candle and would like to know when are the best days to begin burning the candle. Also, when looking for work, should I put a specific company, salary desired, job title on a petition?

For steady work I would just write the characteristics such as you want a salary starting at 10 bucks, and you want an administrative position. I mean you an be specific, but if you are looking for work still you do not want to make it TOO specific otherwise you might not find any jobs that fit the characteristics. So if you name a specific company...and there are no jobs at that company, then the outlook of your work might not manifest due to the lack of jobs at that company. Your spellwork may fail. So i would just name a few things you want in a job and leave it open enough to attract enough positions

Best days to work job work is...would be sunday, wednesday, Thursday and Friday (associated with drawing and money work)

Here is a great post where Miss Cat writes about days of the week, planetary influences, candles and more! Hope this helps!

Editied.. link took (my technical issues..) A cleansing can be done once a week, once a month or as needed------- depending on what you are working on... It can be done daily on you and your home (white sage, (smoked smudged)-- Lucky Mojo Chinese Wash,) if you are working and the 51st Psalm is also helpful. In addition protection products ( Lucky Mojo Fiery Wall of Protection and LM Four Theives Vinegar... and many more)

I would not do influencing work alongside clarity and KS Wisdom work--think about it for a moment--you want to help a person see clearly and with wisdom, then you want to influence them to do/see/think about things in a specific way--the two are somewhat at cross purposes with themselves. What I would recommend is that you choose--do you want to dominate or do you really want him to have clarity? Some workers, myself included, will recommend that you begin with one approach and if that does not give you the desired results then go to the next. Sunday or Wednesdays are good for KS Wisdom/Clarity and Thursday is good for power/domination/influence/ Friday is good for power/domination/influence specifically as it relates to love.
Blessings,

What is a day? Sunrise to Sunrise or Midnight to Midnight?

Unread post by BellaMars » Tue Feb 22, 2011 4:49 am

What is considered a day in hoodoo rootwork?

Is it what we normally go by 12am to 12am or is 6am to 6am?

I know if you want to take into consideration the Planets that you go by the dawn to dawn rule right?

I ask bc I am going to be working a skull candle and the person I am lighting it for goes to bed very late probably midnight and I would like to work the candle around 3am when I know he will be in a deep sleep. Its actually going to be lit for 9 days but I would like to start it on a Wednesday bc that day is for communication and removing obstacles which is what I need to work it for. So would I work it on what we normally would call Wednesday 3am or would I technically light it what we would normally call Thursday 3am ? Or does it not matter if we are not going by the planets?

The same would be for a reconciliation/love honey jar I am planning on working. I plan of working it 7 or 9 days to get it going then I would like to work it before dawn on Mon Wed and Fri. So would I be working it what we know as Mon Wed Fri at approx 5:30am or would it really Tues Thurs and Sat at 5:30am if going by the planets? I am worried about this one bc I dont want to work this spell on the days normally reserved for darker works.

Please advise!

I work with planetary magick so for me a day starts at sunrise and ends at sunrise the next day. So Tuesday began at sunrise and it will stay Tuesday/Mars' Day until Sunrise Wed.

Conjure doctors often held the same view of the days, not because of planetary magick (which some were definitely familiar with), but rather because of the sun. Rural conjure workers woke with the rising sun to go out to the fields, get to work, etc. For this reason a lot of work is done right before dawn or late at night at midnight. So it is traditional to view a day as being from sunrise to sunrise as opposed to Midnight to midnight. This is but one traditional way of looking at the days for magical work.

I was taught that the first hour of the day aka when the sunrises is when the day begins. So I learned its from sunrise to sunrise of the next day. The reasons stated by Conjureman Ali gives backround for that. I personally, like this method because its more practical for me. When I was first learning, I had a jam packed schedule, and was trying to worry about getting home before midnight, it would only leave a few hours to do rootwork. So I learned this method from another rootworker, and its great especially if you like to work at night most of the time like I do.

I reread your post ConjureMan, the traditional way is from 6am to 6am the next day. I do like to do things according to tradition. And Stars you mention another benefit to working this way which is working at night. I find that the nighttime is especially relaxing and calm for me and I can really focus without risk of being interupted (2 small boys remember? can get crazy around here...)

The way hoodoo is practiced today, is either way of working considered correct? Just in case someone else stumbles onto this thread and they prefer to do the 12am to 12am day? As long as they feel comfortable with it?

Thanks to all you responded.

Awsome to know that....because i didn't even know about drawing communication in the morning! Thanks Conjure and Jwmcclin...because I did figure that most work for drawing starts at dawn....I presume 6am-12pm. Or basically whenever the hands on the clock are "drawing" upwards....correct?

bad astrological timing, what to do?

Unread post by ariela » Tue Feb 22, 2011 6:56 pm

Someone that I was involved with, then separated from for a year, is returning tomorrow. I'm happy to have him back, but some of the astrological sites I visited said not to natalize anything at this time. I know this isn't an astrology board, but would you recommend any type of herbs or protection? I've been taking uncrossing baths

maybe it's paranoia, but I don't have control over it much.

BellaMars, I said from sunrise to sunrise. The sun doesn't rise at 6am every morning. It is timed to the sun.

Online astrological sites can be great resources for learning astrology, but I’m not sure that I would base my decisions off of a computer generated reading. ;) Instead, there are members of AIRR who are wonderful astrologers and who could give you more insight than a website could.

http://www.readersandrootworkers.org/in ... :Astrology

That said, I’m not sure that an uncrossing bath would be indicated here just because you might not have the best transits to natalise yet. Again, I would get a reading by an astrologer, but it would seem that strengthening certain aspects would be a good idea. LM carries an entire line of planetary and zodiacal products that can be used to this end.

http://www.luckymojo.com/planetary.html
http://www.luckymojo.com/zodiacal.html

Also, I think that Road Opener products would be more appropriate here as you’re working with obstacles rather than negativity per se.

http://www.luckymojo.com/roadopener.html

Just my 2¢. Hope it helps. :D

Thank you for clearing that up conjureman. That is actually what I meant but I should have phrased my question better so as not to confuse others that are hopefully reading this thread and finding it useful. I found the history behind the sunrise to sunrise day pretty interesting thanks for sharing that with us as well.

If using this traditional way of deciding day I do have one bit of confusion. There are some spells I have read about that are to be done on certain days before dawn/sunrise. I think I have read a few love spells that should be performed before sunrise on friday. Would that be on the second sunrise that signifies the end of Frida. - which is what we normally call saturdays sunrise? If we were to perform it before the first sunrise on friday it would really be the end of thursday according to tradition. When reading such spells I thought the significance of performing before.sunrise was because it was the begining of the day not.the end, im feeling I was wrong now in assuming this

Unread post by BellaMars » Wed Feb 23, 2011 8:20 am

Thanks PapaNewt. I have read that thread and am working with the planetary influences and using each day for a specific purpose.

What I am asking in this thread, which I didnt see covered in the link you posted, is how to judge when to do work our spells if you use the traditional sunrise to sunrise day. The example in my last post is what threw me. If one were to do a love spell on friday before sunrise I assumed it was so it can continue working throughout the day reserved for love spells (Venus) BUT if one were to do it before the first sunrise its really the end of Thursday and if one were to do it before the second sunrise its the end of Friday going into Saturday which is a day reserved for crossing or cursing etc. Maybe I am overthinking this? Or maybe I need to take Cat's class to fully understand this better but in the meantime I was just hoping for someone who practices using this traditional way of determining the days in hoodoo to impart how they handle such a situation as I described.

Thank you in advance anyone who will share their thoughts.

Re: What is a day? Sunrise to Sunrise or Midnight to Midnight?

Unread post by Papa Newt » Wed Feb 23, 2011 6:41 pm

I have never had a problem with working 12 a.m. to 12 a.m. So, if it is Thursday at 11:59 p.m. it is still Thursday and once it hits midnight it is Friday. So if I am looking to do a love spell on Friday then I would see what time the sun is scheduled to rise on that day and get up an hour or so before to prepare. Though, life does happen so it doesn't always work out but then again if I need to do the work I do the work no matter what the day or time. Of course that's just me. :)

Test it out, see if the if doing it the one way is better than the other and vice versa. I personally get confused with the whole first sunrise and second sunrise talk but it is just something I haven't heard of or learned.

If you are looking to bring in planetary energy to the work you may also consider doing a little search for a website or program that can show you where the planets will be in the sky at anytime according to where you live. Personally this is my favorite way to plan out a work using planetary energy because I can find out what time the planet will be high over head and plan my work around that. Never was all that good at figuring out planetary hours.

I hope you do find the answer/explanation you are looking for. Wish I could be more help though still have a lot to learn. :D

There are a variety of ways of working with timing. The idea is to get into the natural rhythm of life, so please don't overanalyze this otherwise you kill it completely.

If a spell calls to be worked on Friday before dawn then do it before dawn on the day of Friday. No fuss, no confusion.

I know your are new to this work, but remember we are working with a natural magic--key word "natural." These traditions work with the days of the week, the phases of the moon, the rising and setting of the sun, the hours of noon and midnight, the rising and falling of the clock, planetary hours, and other natural timings. Find something that fits the tradition and suits the work without confusing yourself.

Thank you ConjureMan for the clarification. You just confirmed what I was thinking. But being new and not having taking any classes just learning from all the vast information on LM and on these thread I didnt want to assume anything. You gave me the confidence I needed to continue working in the traditional way of timing.

Re: bad astrological timing, what to do?

Unread post by catherineyronwode » Fri Mar 04, 2011 11:00 am

Thanks, Tristan, for a very helpful answer to Ariela's query, I second your opinion that there are good astrologers on AIRR (Deacon Millett immediately comes to mind -- there are others as well, including myself).

Ariela, i would like to add that if you wish to work with hoodoo, you will be working with roots, oils, and other accoutrements of hoodoo. You say you know that "this is not an astrology board," but rather than bemoan what it is not, i suggest you look on the positive side and take advantage of what it *is* -- a forum for the discussion of African American folk magic. We make righteous and authentic spiritual supplies, and if you ask questions about the topic which we are committed to helping you with, you will receive all the help we have to give.

See the other threads in this forum for information about timing by Planets / Weekdays and timing by time of day / clock time.

For instance "nine at morning and nine at night every day for none days" is a formula for timing that i heard often when i was young. This is clock time, and is given without reference to the time of sunrise or sunset.

Here are the relevant Lucky Mojo web pages and Lucky Mojo Forum thread pages for spell timing according to a number of different systems of calculation:

What's a good day of the week for friendship spells?

I normally do Mondays (because I usually want female friends) or Wednesdays (for communication/swiftness). But I wondered if Sunday or Thursday would be good as well.

You can refer to the chart earlier in this post.

However, do you just want general attraction of friendships?

If so you can work, Monday, Wednesday, or Fridays.

You can work any spell on any day of the week, but if you put great emphasis on these days then I would work with those days. If I had to choose between Sunday or Thursdays...I would go with Sunday as its a great day for cleansing, and even attraction work.

Re: astrology in hoodoo

The use of the specific Jewish-style grinoires containing planetary sigils by old-school African American rootworkers cannot be generalized to the use of other grimoires, such as those attributing herbs to planets. To draw clear connections about these matters, you would need to do more research and become more familiar with how hoodoo was marketed and to whom and by whom, and to know which books were available when and where from which distributors. For more on the use of grimoires and seals in hoodoo, see my "Hoodoo in Theory and Practice" page on the history of hoodoo: http"//luckymojo.com/hoodoohistory.html -- with links to pages on those grimoires.

Hoodoo has two streams of transmission, and book-learning has never been the major stream of transmission. Most of it is carried by word of mouth within the African American community. Also be aware that hoodoo is regional, some of it rural, some urban, and that it is not a monolithic entity.

Ritual Money Bath

Unread post by QueenofSwords11 » Sat Dec 03, 2011 5:42 am

Wondering if it's better to bathe on the day of the week that corresponds with a particular magickal energy or rather 3 consecutive days. Thanks.

You can work by the days of the week for bathing (Thursday is commonly associated with money), the hours of the clock (bathe as the hands of the clock are going "up" to draw success to you) or by the phases of the moon (bathe as the moon is waxing to grow your money). You could bathe just once on a Thursday morning before dawn and throw the bathwater towards the rising sun, as the sun rises your money will be drawn to you. You can also bathe for several days in a row; 3 is a ritual number, as is 7, 9, and 11 for luck.

Good luck,

If you want to bathe 3 consecutive days that ALSO correspond to appropriate planetary energy, then do it on a Wednesday-Thursday-Friday. Wednesday is Mercury day, which is good for Road Opening, and bringing in things quickly. Thursday is Jupiter day, which is good for expanding your resources and wealth. Friday is Venus day, which is good for bringing in abundance and luxury.

It is a bit like asking if a painting should be blue or red in general.

For example you do not ask if the options are better for you at this particular time or for someone else in particular.

Learning the mechanics of Conjure is only 1/3 of the work. The other 2/3 is Gift (which the master numbers already said you had) and Divination (which will tell you how and when the mechanics should be applied).

Hi everyone, I am already planning ahead for the new year. I would appreciate it if I could get some ideas of what to do to have luck and success in the new year. For example, is there something that I can do on New Year's eve to change my luck. 2011 has been an awful year so if there is something I can do for next year I wold be happy to hear it. I am asking in advance in case I need to order products form Lucky Mojo.

Thanks in advance for all your wisdom and hard work it is appreciated by us all.

You could start with a 13-herb bath and cleansing your house with Chinese Wash. Then you can do a Van Van spell to change your bad luck to good.

If you have been having financial difficulties consider incorporating a money stay with me working into the work Mama Micki suggested above. If you have had trouble in the home work with peaceful home, and if you are longing for a lover try a come to me spell-in other words, consider what your issues have been and target one or two of them through spell work with the LMC spell kits. You may also want to consider buying a mojo hand for good luck-I love the Lucky Red Clover bag for all around good luck in health, love, and money!

Is Sunday ok for a Love Bath?

Unread post by jujubean » Tue Jan 03, 2012 5:12 pm

I would normally do everything pertaining to love on Friday, however my lover comes back from a trip on Sunday and I am the one who is going to pick him up from the airport. We have not seen each other in 2 weeks, I've been doing quite the bit of candle work to keep myself on his mind, etc. while he is gone. I have everything I need for a love bath, what do you all suggest I do? fix it and do it on Friday or before I pick him up from the airport.
I also wish to reserve some of the bath water to spray around his vehicle, our bedroom, etc. but I really want to make sure I do this right, I wish to fix a full tub bath and add the herbs and oils to it, go in and take some time visualizing my desires. I understand about reserving bath water but is it ok to let the rest go down the drain? OR should I just do a small tub where I can put my feet and wash upwards?

Actually you can take the bath on Friday and Sunday and save your bath water until you are with him. Remember spells do not have to be done on certain daily, you work spells when you need them. Timing a spell is appropriate for various reasons. The rest of the water can drain out.

The right day to begin Cut & Clear work?

Unread post by rosyaltar » Mon Feb 27, 2012 6:42 pm

First off, let me start by saying thank you for all the patient and helpful answers, advice, and information that is made available in this forum. Cat, Miss Bri, Conjure Man, and co. : you really provide a lot of food for thought, and a wealth of information for those seeking everything from perspective to protocol.

I am aware that is some spellwork, the day of the week on which you begin/maintain your work is important, for example, working with Honey Jars on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I am wondering if this holds true for Cut & Clear, and Road Opening work. Is it necessary (e.g. does it have an effect on the work) to begin on a specific day of the week?

Thanks in advance!

RA

Working on certain days of the week is an enhancement to your work, not a necessity. You could do the Cut and Clear on Saturday because that day is associated with death and endings, but do it when you feel the time is right.

I'd venture Wednesday, as that's Mercury's day. I don't think it matters much unless you're into the planetary days and hours, though. I'd do the spell as needed, esp. if it's an emergency.

These are just special cases of the general thread on days of the week, so this thread is being merged into that thread. Read from the beginning for the best understanding of the subject.
