Symbolism of Metals in Talismans

My question really comes down to whether or not the kind of metal used makes a difference in rootwork when one is creating amulets and talismans, and if so, what does rootwork say about pewter?

The symbolism associated with various kinds of metal is not as important in rootwork as in traditional European grimoire magic, since more of the work is done with roots and herbs. However, when metals are used, their usual European grimoire associations are generally employed.
