Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
i usually have an ongoing vigil candle for st michael for protection and its almost done, since hes a saint i work with constantly it just occured it may be a better idea and cheaper to fix an oil lamp. i have saint michael oil, fiery wall of protection oil and powder, devil shoestring, camphor, salt, rue, bay, agrimony, master of the woods, alot of protection/ uncrossing herbs. my question is should i fix it with protection herbs and add a few drops of st michael and fiery wall of protection oil - can the powder be used too? or just the oils? can i use the oil lamp to cover my whole family? i also have run devil run should i mix that too?

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
I would only use the oils and not the powder. A tiny sprinkle of powder may be fine, but too much will cause a "gunk" to form. I had this happen when using too much sandalwood and frankincense powder in a oil lamp. You may use this to protect/"cover" your whole family yes, I would put "My Whole Family" or each of your names on the petition and then use a safety pin to pin it to the very bottom of the wick. You can add the Run Devil Run oil if you desire, however I think you will be just fine with the Saint Michael and Fiery Wall oils together.

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
An oil lamp is an old way of working; the herbs would go right IN the oil reservoir. Since the flame is at the top of the wick and the herbs at the bottom, with a fancy metal device separating them, the herbs will never catch fire.
Lamp oil is expensive, though, and burns faster than candles -- so you might want to look into making a simple vegetable-oil lamp. Dr. E. described a simple design on the Lucky Mojo Radio Hour on January 28, 2012. (Discussion of oil lamps begins about 15:30; Dr. E gives two designs.) You could certainly make one lamp for your whole family, or a simple and inexpensive vegetable oil lamp for each person.
Dress and fix vigil light candles with oils plus optional herbs or dusting sachets, and pray for your desires, add a written petition, photo, or seal; burn in a fire-safe place.

Should I ask Saint Michael for protection and have the Saint Michael vigil candle burning for protection while I'm doing the break-up spell kit, or should do I it for a week before I even start the break-up spell kit?

When you purchase the kit, Starbright, you will note it includes protection as well, that is what I love above the spellkits...I always say if I had known what I know now years ago, I would have started ordering kits instead of various supplies and build from that foundation. But it all worked out.

Hyssop is great for CLEANSING not protection. You will need to get something else for the protection.

Hello Everyone,
Does anyone have a permanent home altar for Saint Micheal? Where would an appropriate place for him be? Im not quite sure if I should put mine at the front door, or up on the fireplace mantel in the living room. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ive been close to St Michael since the age of 3 and my instinct was to always put him near the door. I dont think hes picky he has your back no matter where you put the altar but I think putting him near the door is more of a visual comfort.
Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
Thank you sooo much for that response.. Front Entry way was my first thought..then after thinking and rethinking.. I couldnt figure it out...I really think that will be a great place for him..I will erupt his altar with offerings tomorrow. Thanks again

I keep a light lit for him by my bed also. I dream true and spirit travel so i need constant protection. Archangels aren't "shy" in my experience. Maybe you can ask him what he would like.

Thank you, Michael, for your assistance last weekend. I was glad I received three friendly and understanding police officers, and I am relieved my creepy neighbor has not even shown himself in public since. Thank you for protecting and watching over my home, and for keeping me, my two cats, my mom, and all the guests that ever come into my home safe.
Thank you for being with me and listening to my prayers.

Well, Archangel Michael will largely see to the protection end of things. Like I said, John the Conqueror is usually used to boost confidence, or increase male potency. Are you actively experiencing interference with your prosperity, or are you setting up defenses just in case?

I would second the Fiery Wall of Protection. If you are having problems, and are unable to identify the cause, I would also suggest getting a reading. There may be an unseen obstacle that needs addressing. Check the Association of Independent Readers and Rootworkers:

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
I've recently been praying to Michael and he came through so quickly. I'll be giving a small donation of thanks to an appropriate charity as soon as I can. Interesting aside---I was at our local cathedral yesterday and picked up a commemorative medal for him (the holy cards sell out on a regular basis, he's a very popular saint!), dressed it and added it to my altar when I got home, with thanks. Later that evening, when I stepped outside, I noticed a spider had spun a brand new web in the corner of my doorway. In my ethnic tradition, that is a sign of protection and good fortune. so I guess he is looking out for us! Thank you, Michael!

That's awesome psychic kitty! I love Saint Michael as well. He is a great saint I love having on my side for protection. I keep his card with me everywhere. Another good thank you to him is to buy a statue. It can even be a car statue that are pretty small.

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
In regards to my last post about getting the medal of St. Michael for the altar, all I can say is it didn't come soon enough. My St. Michael candle, a 7 day red votive, had burned down very quickly, same as an identical one I had on my honey jar. The honey jar candle burned out earlier with no ill effect. Not so the St. Michael one. It cracked open at the bottom, a crack went 3/4 of the way up the side of the glass, and red wax spilled all over the petition I'd written...and the medal. This is the second time a candle to St. Michael has exploded near the bottom. I guess he is taking the hit for me, but man, I am spooked beyond belief. being read this week---hopefully this can sort out! It's downright scary.

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
Thanks. I will do so. But what should i do with the wax and broken votive holder? ordinarily i throw the wax into the ocean. But this seems far more...sinister. How best to dispose? And wow, I guess this work really must be strong if it's challenging Michael---or maybe it's stupid? =:-0

I would dispose of the wax in the crossroads. I would recycle the broken votive holder if its glass. If its not then I would probably throw it in a crossroads as well.

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
I've been working with St. Michael for a few weeks now and things are improving. Yesterday I got money orders for two charities, one for a police fund (for Michael) and a local cat alliance (for the saints who interceded on behalf of my kitty) and placed the completed stamped letters by the appropriate candles. Interestingly, the St. Michael candle should have burned out yesterday morning but stayed barely lit until i got home with new candles. After i dressed and prayed over them, I transferred the light from one to the next and let the original burn out. I will be donating on behalf of st. Dymphna and Archangel Jophiel and St. Cyprian next week.
But...
The new candles (I got a few yesterday for the various saints I am working with) started off burning great. Then they drowned in wax and nearly went out, 3 out of 4! I'd cleaned the entire house down the day before with wash and was religious about my baths...but nope, there was interference. I poured the wax into holy water a couple of times and will dispose at the crossroads this am.
Is there anything else I should be adding to the candles before I light them? I cleanse, anoint (a drop of olive oil, all saints and uncrossing), pray and light...What else is there? The S. Cyprian candle actually went out
but as of this AM it is buring bright, the St. Michael is sturggling with lots of wax residue down the sides. Are the saints somehow displeased with me or no longer protecting/working with me? I'd told them I could only do one or two donations with each paycheck as I am not wealthy, but come on?

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
I don't think saints are generally spiteful. They aren't like spirits that are more demanding. These are holy persons, many of whom were poor or defended the poor. They won't get mad you aren't giving more money. Did you get your candles from lucky mojo? I had serious problems with some candles I bought at a grocery store. They were just cheap candles. It wasn't the saint or my focus. It was just really really cheap wax. Maybe change the candles you are using? Or if they are good quality candles, try a reading to find out what is blocking you. The saints may be trying to tell you that what you are praying for isn't in your best interest or that you should go about it in another way. Good luck!

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
Alas, I wish I was rich enough to buy everything from LM. The oils and washes and baths, of course; the candles are from the local religious supply shop (hey fixed incomes suck!). However, in light of the recent uncrossing work I have been doing, I was surprised to find the candles all burning brightly when I got home this evening. Judging how far they had burned, I guessed the approximate time they flared normally. And right about then, I was having one of my recent episodes of being very sick to my stomach but nothing that I could see
coming out. I'm sure the candles took a hit for me (the spirits are stubborn and vengeful in my case, and nasty) and am glad they did!

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
Are you leaving candles burning while you are not at home? That doesn't seem like a good idea at all. Give St. Michael a break, he has enough people to protect without unattended candle burning to worry about

I place all burning vigils into metal tin cans that completely cover the candle and then place them in the bathtub while I am gone. Works like a charm and I have never had a problem. Helps with the powerful and important continuous burns.

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
I lit a red candle dressed with protection oil this evening for St. Michael. I made a little altar for St. Michael in the kitchen (for now, until I get my tables/shelves to set up my altar in a room)
Anyhow, it was a 6 inch red candle I ordered from LM, I dressed it with protection oil form LM, while I was dressing it, I was praying for his protection, I totally forgot to offer him anything...it burned for less than 30 minutes and it had wax/residue to the left of the candle, when the candle was done, that was when I recalled to pray psalm 91, so I prayed psalm 91 and left the bible open in front of his altar. Is this normal? This is my 1st time lighting a candle for St. Michael.
Any response will be appreciated!
Thank you!

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
As someone who has a relationship with this angel, I would say that Cat's post upthread is right on. You can give an offering if you want but plain old prayer is much more important. The offering and candle are more for you.
There are some spirits out there who get huffy if approached without an offering, but in my experience St. Michael is nothing like this.
I have St. Michael medals, holy cards, candles, etc, but they are more to put the bad guys on notice than to attract his attention. Hey folks, this is the guy I'll be speaking with if something funny happens - same function as a "these premises protected by ADT security" sign on your house.

Sounds fine. I have a Bible and a St. Michael statue by my bed. Angels are higher beings than saints and usually don't require offerings, although donating to charity would be a nice gesture.Rookie2conjure wrote:Anyhow, it was a 6 inch red candle I ordered from LM, I dressed it with protection oil form LM, while I was dressing it, I was praying for his protection, I totally forgot to offer him anything...it burned for less than 30 minutes and it had wax/residue to the left of the candle, when the candle was done, that was when I recalled to pray psalm 91, so I prayed psalm 91 and left the bible open in front of his altar. I enjoy working with Saint Michael the Archangel. He's a powerful protector indeed! Whenever I move into a new home, after it's been spiritually cleansed. I place an image of Saint Michael inside, above my front door. I use a holy card of St. Michael I got from Lucky Mojo for this. Before placing the card above the door though I lay the card down at my altar and say his prayer over it and then I annoint the card in a five spot with LM Van Van oil.

I would like to make St Michael's Protection Packets for the front and back door. I have all the necessary items -- holy cards, grains of paradise, old hankies -- but I can't figure out if I need to dress the packet with oil like a mojo bag or not. Would appreciate a clue because I am clueless about this. Thanks.

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
Red Velvet Jones: Some do, some don't. I have seen them for sale with oil for feeding the packet and I have seen just the St.Michael Packets by themselves. It really is up to you.
I personally like the idea of feeding it some oil from time to time and refreshing the connection in your mind, as well as to your home and personal area.

To Joseph: Thank you for the information. I think I will dress mine with protection oil as that seems fitting. Thanks again, Madeline

You are welcome Madeline. In cases like this, when you are not going against tradition, it is good to go with what feels correct to you. No ill will come from you dressing this packet from time to time.

Re: Archangel Michael Vigil Candle Questions and Answers
I'm starting a daily habit of petitioning AA Michael for his protection, guidance and insights about my situation, which I've discussed in some detail around here.
For example, I have no trouble saying the Lord's Prayer as written in the St James version of the Bible because I was brought up with that as a CofE (I was baptised as CofE as a baby), but I am not a practising Christian and I know it seems like a contradiction, but I don't subscribe to the religious dogma in Christianity. As a result I tend to avoid most prayers especially Catholic ones because I find them off-putting, mainly due to the fact I don't subscribe to the standard Christian belief system regarding Jesus, Satan, The Devil, etc and I definitely don't see God in the same light as the Church tends to.
So, this brings me to a difficult position because all of the prayers to St Michael are full of stuff I don't believe in, and personally I feel that reciting a prayer I don't believe in would render it useless.
Regardless, I still have an interest in Hoodoo and Vodoun even though I understand many practitioners are Christians, and it seems to me Christianity is practised alongside the two traditions. Please correct me if I have misunderstood.
So, with all of this in mind, is there a prayer to AA Michael without being overly religious? Or would I be better off praying to him in my own way when making my petition? Any suggestions?

You can certainly pray to St. Michael in your own words. People of all faiths work with angels and Archangel Michael is one of the most popular.
