Hi Spellkiss,

while it is ultimately up to you, if it were up to me I'd have two vigil lights set: one healing candle (http://www.missionary-independent.org/c ... racle.html) and another Dr. Jose Gregorio Hernandez vigil to help find the best medical care possible (http://www.luckymojo.com/drhernandez.html).

Blessings to you all through this time of trial.

I agree with Aura.

Of course you could also choose to petition St. Peregrine, as he's the patron saint of those dealing with cancer.

Because I loooove working in 3s, you could add a candle petitioning St. Peregrine (to heal the cancer) to the Healing (for general healing miracle) and Dr. Jose Gregorio Hernandez (for the best treatment and doctors) candles in a triangle around a picture or other concern of your friend's father. Pray over it at least once a day.

I just got news that a dear friend of mines has passed away. What candle &/or oil can I use to honor him and to make sure he is well protected and guided in the afterlife?

Hello Mlance38,

I would order an unlabled white fixed candle from Lucky mojo, Let them know in the comments section if you order on line, or just tell them over the phone if you order that way, that you are wanting this candle to be a memorial candle for your friend. They will fix the candle for you and you can even glue or tape a picture of your friend on it when you get it.

If you are wanting to dress it yourself you could order an undressed candle of whatever size you you like. (I personally like the vigil candles but you could use offertory candles of any size). Oils that would be good for this kind of thing would be Blessing oil (http://www.luckymojo.com/blessing.html), Some tranquility oil (http://www.luckymojo.com/tranquility.html), I would also put some tobacco around the candle or use the tobacco infused oil on the candle. (http://www.luckymojo.com/tobacco.html). Some other products that might be nice to add could be Healing (http://www.luckymojo.com/healing.html) if you think your friend could use that and maybe some Safe Travel (http://www.luckymojo.com/safetravel.html) for your friends journey. I know we often think of Safe Travel products being for something like going to Hawaii but I see no reason it couldn't be used on behalf of a spiritual journey for those who have passed.

no matter what candle you go with just say a sincere prayer for your friend. If you like psalms you could also read the 23rd psalm.

I hope these ideas help and I am sorry for your loss.

Peace~

Natstein, Safe Travel and Tranquility -- what a lovely idea.

Mlance38, you could set up this light beside a photograph of your friend, and set a glass of water beside it to refresh him on his journey. Condolences to you and your friend's family.

thanks to you both. I personally didn't light any candles but I placed an order for him through the Missionary Independent website. I do have a few spiritual concerns for him but over all I have a feeling he's going to be okay :)
