Candle Divination: Flame, Wick, Wax, Glass, Remains

Ok, so I received one order out of two from LM today (the majority of supplies yet to come) and I just couldn't wait to check a spell off of my "to do" list.

This was my very first spell I ever performed. I would be so grateful if I could get input on if it sounds like I did everything correctly and if my interpretation of the candle burning is correct. Thanks in advance!

I performed a candle spell to make my target communicate/text me. I learned of the spell from Conjureman Ali here on the forum and did some minor alterations based on what items I had on hand. What I did was take 1 4" brown altar candle and dressed it with mercury oil, then rolled it (toward me) in some black tobacco and a bit of deer's tongue getting both herbs to stick to the candle. I took a picture of my target and rubbed a bit of mercury oil and attraction oil on my target's face (attraction oil was the only other oil I had on hand and I thought it might could "attract" his communication). On the back of the picture I wrote my target's name 3 times, turned the picture clockwise then crossed his name with my name three times. Around our names, I then wrote the petition "text me" in a circle without my pen leaving the paper. I placed the picture underneath the candle holder, then simply prayed to God for my target to text me/talk to me as I lit the candle. I concentrated on the flame, imagined my target and repeated my prayer alternating every so often with saying "target's name" please text me. After about 30 minutes I left the room, returning every so often to check the candle and repeat the prayer.

Based on what I've read here on the forum and the candle divination info provided by LM, I'm thinking this was a clean, successful burn and that my petition should come to pass. Does this sound correct? My only other concern was that this was only a 4" altar candle and not a 6" offertory candle. Does that make any difference for successful completion of a spell like this, or does size really not matter? I was just worried the 4" was too small.

And a couple of other quick questions....1)Do I need to scrape out the little bit of wax that's left and bury it along with the picture/petition? Or was my candle burn "complete" seeing as how so little wax was left?
2)Do I have to bury the picture/petition or can it be reused for any later communication spells on him?

Clean burn is good. You can still get symbols off of a 4 inch candle.

Yes, I would take all the remains and bury them.

I always bury the picture and petition paper also.

That's why i's good to make a lot of copies of pictures. I always have my clients send me at least 10 pictures to work with.

I was performing a moving candle spell (with figural candles), and one of the candles burned in such a way that the body was almost split in half. The wick ended up getting buried in wax and the candle put itself out. I did some digging, but I can't find the wick-- I think this candle is just done.
Should I continue moving and burning the other candles and complete the spell, or should I start over? This spell has already been on hiatus for a day or two because of this.

It depends on your purpose with the candle. If you are burning it for love it could be a sign that your heart or their heart is going to get turned around. If you are breaking him up from someone that could be good. I would suggest talking to a professional reader from AIRR (www.readersandrootworkers.org) to know for certain.

I was doing a Break Up/Come to Me moving candle spell for my ex using figural candles and a few weird things happened. I'm trying to figure out if I caused these bizarre results.

I placed a photo of each target under it's respective candle. I was running low on photos, so instead of finding a picture of my ex by himself, I used a photo of us together. That candle, representing him, ended up burning itself out (the wick was buried by the wax). It did, however, begin melting into my candle before this happened.

The candle representing me began to melt in such a way that a thin, independent column of wax was standing in front of the rest of my burning candle. It almost looked like a mic stand. By the time the rest of the candle had burned out, this column melted into an arch-- it is literally an arrow pointing to the crotch of my ex's candle, which as I said, did not burn down entirely. I haven't yet disposed of the remains, partially because it looks so damn funny!

These seem like they should be really obvious signs, but I don't get it. I just got a reading, and was told my ex and I are going to reconcile, with some delays, and everything in the mundane world seems to support this.

1. Could I have thrown off the spell by using a photo of both of us to represent my ex?
2. I'm not looking for a purely sexual relationship with my ex, so I'm confused as to why my candle is literally pointing to his crotch! Should I take this as a glimpse into my (perverted) psyche, or is it a sign from spirit telling me to use more sexual tactics?

I would perform the spell again and just make sure that you have the correct photos with the correct candles.

I have read up on candle divination but was hoping for a little advice. I have some noisy candles going- lots of light pops and crackles (Adam and Eve and Come to Me vigil candles). Everything I read says its spirits talking but I think I need an interpreter! Lol.

Is this a good sign? I'm burning the candles for love between us and to have my lover come to me. Both the flames are burning pretty brightly with the come to me flame a little lower (but I may have overdressed it with oil and herbs!)

I know there's no candle reading on the forum but just a word or two in the right direction would be helpful. Thank you!

I have a question about the melted candle remains. I have read that you have to bury the remains in your garden but I live in student housing so that would very hard for me to do without someone seeing. Security, other students etc. Plus the ground is mostly concrete. Is there something else I could do? Is it bad to just throw away candle remains? Can I throw them at a crossroad instead?

Ok wow- I've been burning a come to me and an Adam and Eve vigil candles and the Adam and Eve has been burning well and clean and the come to me was going very slow with a very low flame. I remembered that I had a hair of my target so I put that into the petition for the come to me yesterday. I have been sniffing them out at night when I sleep and relighting in the morning. Well today the come to me has really started to have a good burn- nice strong flame and clean burn! I know a candle can do a lot while burning but wow it really seems like something is happening now with that candle as it's been low flame and slow burn for a few days and now burning well!!!

When burning candles, such as Vigils Candles, it is a good idea to check in on how they are burning as there are many signs that can be seen. Sounds like what you are working towards is starting to turn around. Best of luck to you!

I am burning a St. Martha vigil and today I noticed a second wick had surfaced and had lit itself off of the original flame. When I looked, I also saw that there is a THIRD wick that is about to surface! I've been burning this candle for days and there are only a few inches of wax left, so it must have just happened. I'm wondering if I should interpret this the way you would normally interpret a double flame? The fact that this happened on a Saint Martha votive is what confuses me!

Eventually, the second wick burned itself out and the third wick never caught fire. Things have been going well for us so I thought this was interesting and strange!

Hi everyone,
I have been doing a honey jar spell on my ex boyfriend. We are on and off. We had an agruement last week I tried to apologise as it was my fault however he won't speak to me. We have been on and off for 10 years. I lit a glass held red candle and it formed a double flame out of the ash,
That joined into a big heart shaped flame. There No black smoke no soot just burned until it formed a normal flame again. How would you read this? I thought it to be a good sign as it was a come back to me spell reconciliation spell. I felt really positive while focusing on him coming back to me. Now I'm unsure as double flames seem to mean something negative.

Hello, I have been thinking a lot lately about someone who admitted they liked me when we were both younger. I was too shy/scared to reciprocate at the time. It's been almost 6-7'ish years later, he moved to another state but I loved the way he made me laugh and would like to reconnect. I've been doing "call me" candle spells. Tonight, I put a tea light with our names & birthdays inscribed to burn (in a glass votive) & put my petition paper in the flame. I burned the paper & dropped it into the wax. The paper & the flame joined one another into a really big flame that looked all most like it was having sex. The flames burned so hot that it broke the glass votive side out & cracked the other side of the glass. Is this a clear sign that I should stop?

I have searched for some examples and read the link that was provided but still can't pinpoint some reasoning and/or meaning of why my taper candle holder would crack and break apart. The LM link talks of love, money etc...but I'm just doing candle work to open up communication.

It's coming up 6 weeks since my order with LM and I was advised it should be coming this week but I've been burning a honey jar and doing simple candle work to open up communication while waiting. I had lit a yellow candle for communication with appropriate oil and powder and buried the remains last week. Last night, I used a purple one (carved and anointed with oil), had his picture and wrote a simple petition on the back of the photo to talk/communicate more. The photo was set beneath the candle. I anointed his photo in 5 places with the oil as well. The taper candle finished up around 4 hours and then I heard it break off as the glass piece dropped onto the wood floor. A complete half side of the taper candle holder broke off. No wax ran down the side as there wasn't any wax left to interpret if there were "tears". The wick was the only thing left that was burning and it was about to go out on its own. I don't know which way to interpret this as I've never had anything this extreme happen. Does this mean that I should do something else and there are blockage OR that I broke through some barriers and should continue as it seems successful? I tried to attach a photo here but I won't let me.

I have a super noisy candle!!! The flame sputtered and popped for over an hour. I had to put it out and relight and then snuff out again quicker than usual. I had moved the candle so I think the wick was drowned. I poked a hold on the wax to drain it a bit and that seemed to do the trick for the most part. Still some pops and sputters but not like before. Should I consider this for divination? Or just chalk it up to candle mechanics? I've been praying for a sign that the work is affecting my target.

Unfortunately the forum does not do candle interpretations here. If I were you, I would re-do the spell and see what happens with that second candle. It could be as mundane as a faulty candle holder. If something weird happens again, I would suggest a reading to have a professional interpret your results.

Hello everyone,

I attempted to search for this topic before inquiring so forgive me if this has been answered; I am still learning.
I recently started a Love Me honey jar and the first red candle that I burned was perfect, burned clean with no residue. But I had to change the color of the candle to pink on my second day because it was the only thing available; I was told pink would have the same affect. However, I have now burned three pink candles now and each one has left residue with the wicks falling over to the side and the flame being put out with the wax with plenty of wick left to burn. I have tried looking for messages or pictures in the wax and nothing jumps out at me. Mind you, I am still new at this but I used my pendulum over the jar as it was burning and it gave a positive read yet I'm I am still puzzled. Any suggestions or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Though i dont think its a bad sign, at least from my experience.I just finished burning(actually there remains a very small flame) a white crucifix candle for protection for my child and I. I did not have much but used what was available. The situation was dire.(wish I could post photos but I can't figure out how!)

Anyway.we made an herb mixture of white sage, (after saging myself and my little helper lol) bay leaf, chamomile flowers, mint, cinnamon and basil.I loaded the bottom of the candle with our personal concerns, dressed my candle upward first with holy water while praying for blessing and protection, then with attraction oil to attract protection, mental strength, uncrossing of the situation, blessing etc to us, rubbed it with herbs, and set it atop the left over mixture. Surrounded it with more fresh mint on the outside and a triangle of three stones for clarity, protection from ebil and negativity, and stress relief.We prayed with intent for protection from our situation and evil, then I prayed psalm 23.the wick was quite small before being lit, so I could not trim. When lit, the flame was normal then grew in height (and stayed that way til almost the end)and burned pretty quick. During the burn it hissed and was noisy but no dark smoke except in the beginning for a few seconds, the other time it smoked it was white and burning an herb.

It teared up in the back, I noticed but not the front.then later on 3 lines of wax flowed straight down the middle.and the wax that teared up seemed darker in apperance as opposed to the perfectly white lines down the front.as it burned it smelled lovely, and my once feeling of terror subsided into peace and calm.

The two sides of the cross fell off and formed hands, at first in a fearful position then relaced.these are still in the wax and the flame/wick has moved a considerable amount away from them.when I noticed the hands, the thought of "the lord lifts us up" came to mind along with psalm 145:14-21:

"..The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.c14The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.15The eyes of all look to you,and you give them their food at the proper time.16You open your handand satisfy the desires of every living thing.17The Lord is righteous in all his waysand faithful in all he does.18The Lord is near to all who call on him,to all who call on him in truth.19He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;he hears their cry and saves them.20The Lord watches over all who love him,but all the wicked he will destroy.21My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord.Let every creature praise his holy namefor ever and ever"

If that's not a great outcome idk what is! So my feeling is, the troublemaker will not succeed and will cry (hence the tears in the back) and we will be safe from harm (hence the wick moving away from the hands)

Any other input is greatly appreciated.also, can I mix the remains with a satchet powder, like fiery wall of protection, wrap it in a white hankerchief and bury it in my front lawn or would it be better to use the wax a different way for protection, maybe use it in a mojo or make doll babies to put inside a bottle?

Sidenote, as I wrote this I saw a cop car at the entrance to where I live.coincidence? Na, its a good omen lol I think anyway.

Please forgive me if this has already been discussed somewhere or if it's in the wrong place. I've been trying to read most of the threads in different topics before I post, but I'm too tired right now to do as much due diligence as I usually would.

I just have a super quick question about pyromancy/capnomancy/ceromancy. I know when doing a work reading candles can be helpful. But has anyone here read candles when those candles are purely devotional? I mean, if one has a candle lit for a Spirit, can one use pyromancy, f'ex, to get a 'read' on what that Spirit would like to communicate?

It kinda sorta seems like this is happening for me with one of 'my' Spirits and I was curious. It also struck me that when it's feasible, this could be helpful for communing with my ancestors as well.

Is this even "on the radar"? Or more importantly is this remotely traditional in African American folk magic? It feels like this might be more relevant to religious traditions like Santeria or even Vodou. But, again, it seems like it would be beneficial when working with one's ancestors as well so...

Hi! I burned a candle to ask for true love to finally come into my life (no names, white color, blessed, the ones that come with a plastic red container and I place it always inside of a wide empty candle glass for safety). It was a bit crackling at the beginning but the rest of the day was quiet, burned for 25hrs aprox. and at the very end it went out with a loud bang that made me jump, even the plastic red container around it jumped inside of the glass.

Can someone tell me if I should be worrying about this??

I was told to light both a love uncrossing and a holy spirit 7-day candle at the same time, which I did. Remarkably, the Love Uncrossing candle is burning much faster than the Holy Spirit candle, even though they are sitting right next to one another. Do you hunk this has any significance at all- or am I just reaching?

They aren't from LM, but made by the same place, in the same container. I normally would order from you all but I just happened to see a Rootworker where they sold these. Thanks in advance!

I bought the love me spell kit and the directions in my purse to read over my work break. I came and had my bag on the floor. For some reason, my dog, who never does this, went in my bag and tore up the directions! Can anyone PM the directions? So before I started to do some spiritual work, i lit an incense stick. The incense stick burned up awful fast, like burned out in like 5 minutes. When I lit the candle on top of the honey jar, it burned regularly.

I didn't light the incense for hoodoo purposes, but i lit it right before starting a working and had the spellwork on my mind.

Are they connected? Does it mean anything significant?

hello everyone! i made my very first honey jar last May 29, friday, after having a terrible fight last May 25.. It was really a terrible break up between us. the next day, saturday, after i made my honey jar he messaged me something like "hope u feel well now". to make the story short by sunday he called me and we were ok again.. it was like accelerated magic. i noticed that since i made the honey jar whenever we have small arguments we are ok the next day and he become sweeter and sweeter calling me for hours since we are ocean apart. As i lit the candle tonight i noticed that when it was about to melt all the remaining wax, it produced another flame and they were like identical big flames in size. the big flames on the wick lasted for about 3 minutes in the absence of wax.. Can anyone tell me what does this mean? i was burning a white birthday candle on my honey jar for love since i run out of pink candle..
