Would adding brick dust to a bottle spell help to trap negative energy, or just block it out?

Re: Red Brick Dust Questions and Answers
As i see it, by adding brick dust to a bottle spell, you're mixing methods in a thoughtless way. Here's why:
Brick dust is sprinkled to protect the feet and the premises. Confining it in a bottle means you have failed to deploy it properly according to the methods of its traditional use.

Red Brick Dust Questions and Answers
Hi all,
I was wondering what kind of brick Lucky Mojo brick dust is. Is it colored cement brick dust, or more of a colored fired clay brick dust?
Additionally, I was curious if the source of the bricks held any significance as per Hoodoo is concerned?
Is it like dirt? Would a batch of brick dust made from say, bricks salvaged from a church be more significant than some dust made from brand new bricks?
Or am I overthinking it, and it's one of those brick dust is brick dust things and works regardless?
Thanks,
R.D.

Thank you very much for the response jwmcclin. You were very thoughtful to post the link. I gave it another read,in case i missed something, but didnt find the main answer i was looking for. It did remind me about adding it to a wash though, and i'm grateful for that.

Re: Red Brick dust composition
I know where you're coming from... I have read that you shouldn't use salvaged red bricks to make red brick dust from the inside of a prison or mental health institution because of the possibilities of negative spiritual imprint contained in the bricks (I wish I could direct you further, but I don't recall where I read that!
)
So I see where you're going with wondering about the merits of where the bricks came from...
On a personal note, whenever I'm in doubt about collecting or making items on my own, I order from Lucky Mojo! I think it's better to use items that are made and blessed by experts, as opposed to using something that you have concerns about.
That way you won't be worried or having any sort of doubt about the product you are using in your work.
I hope that helped some! Hopefully someone else will see this and be able to elaborate further.
Best wishes

Thank you kindly for your response nvme. Perhaps i've been overthinking it a bit. After all, it is as you say...Lucky Mojo is a trusted source.
The fact that it's prepared and blessed over with care makes it a superior product. It stays on the order list.
I just find brick dust to be an interesting ingredient, and couldn't help but wonder on it.

Re: Red Brick dust composition
Geez, you folks can be really prohibitive on your own magic. Our red brick dust comes from bricks that were incorporated into chimneys in old houses. We live way out here in the boonies -- how anyone would think we would travel many hours to a torn-down prison or mental hospital (if we could even FIND one!) to salvage "contaminated" red bricks is incredible.
You know, when i was a kid, people had more sense than that! I mean, this goes beyond "over-thinking" and right into "Y'all have been watching too many horror movies."

Re: Red Brick Dust Questions and Answers
Dear Miss Cat,
Thank you much for your informative and witty response. It's nice to hear your bricks are salvaged from old chimneys and such. This answers my main question of composition. More than likely they are fired clay bricks. These kind of bricks turn red in their fireing process due to high amount of iron in the clay used.
Some companies now make now a cheaper brick of chemically dyed cement. It's probably great for building but i'd rather not fuss with them.
Thanks again,
RD

Ah ha! So the iron in the bricks is what would make them so protective! I'd wondered about that one.

Joke aside, if your work is weaker than the nature of the unwanted person, nothing happens. They might feel some initial discomfort, but that is all. However, if your work is stronger than the unwanted person, they will avoid stepping over it. They will turn away.

Red Brick Dust Questions and Answers
This question may be odd but here it goes...
I plan on putting red brick dust around my property but I have pets that hang out in the front and back yards. Is the red brick dust poisonous to them? They're nosy, and have eating crazy things. I'm sure they may try a lick at it lol. Thanks...

QematetSau......lol
I would only sprinkle in the areas you obviously would know they cant get to it, or just keep them in the house if that's the case, I'd sprinkle in the 4 corners of the premises, I would obviously wake up at 5 am to do the ritual as stated on the package. And I also would spread it [if you have white picket fences or a gate,] around there where you can lay the trick.
Dogs are playful, insightful, defenders, and crazy critters. And yea I would lay em at the four corners of my house on the outside where it's hardly noticeable. But I wouldn't worry about it. Unless someone has anything else insighful to add.
Be Blessed,
TBanks91

Re: Red Brick Dust & Pets
I believe brick dust is only harmful if you inhale it. A google search on "brick dust toxicity" turns up MSDS data sheets recommending wet saws for use on bricks. So, unless you're a mason, probably not an issue. You could wet down the area afterwards, I suppose.
Hope this helps,
Miss Michaele

Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic mentions brick dust being used in floor washes but has anyone ever heard of it used as an ingredient in conjure oils or does that seem too far removed from it's traditional use in laying tricks?

Red Brick Dust is a mineral powder. There are indeed some oils, bath crystals, and floor washes that do contain minerals and mineral powders, including salt, graveyard dirt, sulphur, alum, magnetic sand, lodestones, pyrite, and so forth.

Re: Red Brick Dust Questions and Answers
I never thought I would think so hard about brick dust.
But the discussion is interesting, because it's about the properties of things, and the question of whether the properties are physical, or metaphoric, or both. Which isn't that easy a question for some of us, and not easy with this particular type of magic. I'm not even sure it's because we were raised on horror movies so much as that a lot of us were raised away from nature. So the nature of natural things is mysterious (metaphoric), and these days when parents don't let their kids play outside in the mud anymore, imagined to be dangerous. But given that such innocuous things as bricks also have magical uses by (or against) dangerous people, things, even thoughts, the questions make sense.
But also, there might be conflicting folklore at work here, not just contemporary media-infused paranoia.
Miss Cat, I used to live on the west coast, and I've been through northern California lots of times. And you're right, it would be real work finding old bricks from mental hospitals. I don't even know where you'd go, and it would all be hilariously pointless. But the northeastern US is lousy with them. I live in the sticks too, and there's a gorgeous spooky old gigantic sanatorium about 10 miles from here just crumbling away, and another state hospital an hour from here, with similar architecture to the infamous Danvers State Hospital near Salem MA. Danvers was Lovecraft's model for Arkham Asylum. Such places, built along the Kirkbride Plan, were the latest in 19th century mental health facilities. And people suffered in them, and they are freaking haunted --at the level of the architecture itself. I wouldn't use bricks from them either. The American northeast is a haunted, decaying, 19th century physical landscape in a way that the West Coast isn't because it's too new, and these buildings -- and even the pieces of them, are miserable and lively in a way that they may not be in other places.
So, people learning southern Hoodoo, which comes from a very different region, may well come to it with the place/idea of the northeast, which is more familiar to them, and just as real in its own way.
Raising overthinking it to epic levels? Moi?

Piseog,
Thanks for the well-considered comments. You are right -- Out here in the West, and also in the South, there really are not as many spooky, crumbling mental institutions or hospitals as in the North East.
The bricks we are grinding up now came from the San Francisco Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989. We collected many station-wagon loads of them from downed chimneys, drove them home, and stacked them on our property to make paths and flower beds. Even after after two decades of path and flower-bed making, we still have a large stack of them out behind the barn.
"Waste not, want not" is my motto.

It it a general practice to pray over Red Brick Dust when deploying it. Pray Psalms 90 ("LORD, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations") and Psalms 91 ("He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty") for protection.

Something Lucky Mojo should consider is after the new Red Brick Labyrinth is commemorated and used in ritual. The Bricks of the Labyrinth would be great for dust. Switching ones from the pile behind the barn to the place where one is taken for dust. Cycling them out to be blessed by the power of the Labyrinth.

Re: Red Brick Dust Questions and Answers
Hi,
Can red brick dust be placed across doorway at anytime,ie, should it be at a certain time, or can I do it as soon as I have a moment alone? also should it be visible or can it be placed in cracks across the cemet I don't want anyone to know what I'm doing. I didn't want to do the scrub as the front doorstep is light and I'm afraid it may stain...and then I'll have to answer questions that I don't want to.
Thanks

You may put down the Red Brick Dust whenever you find that you need to. There is no particular time to be adhered to. You can certainly place it within the cracks on the sidewalk for a more discreet laying of the dust.

Re: Red Brick Dust Questions and Answers
I would need to do mine at night. It's my neighbor who is throwing the evil eye and intent my direction everywhere I look. I have no ill intent towards her but she has made many enemies in our neighborhood with her words and allegations of ill will to people. Not sure what her problem is but I have told her many times that I don't believe in her ill will towards others that I would like to remain neutral. She has instead decided I am just as bad as everyone else; so hence I am getting bad luck ever-since. So I am trying to break the spell of ill will she has placed on me.
I just need to do it discreetly as possible because the women's husband is a cop/sheriff. He is the dumb kind and really not much of a cop after work but has not talked enough sense into her obviously to stop her ways.
So, should I do the property corners or my front door step or both. She doesn't come to my front door and her house is like right next door. She can see through window what I am doing so night is my only option. I have also gotten black tourmaline and placed it in my car and carry it when I go outside my home to do yard work etc. and I wear an evil eye bracelet all the time.
any advice would be helpful!

Hello DubhBairn78,
Oh, Geez. I just hate neighbors like that. Just hate them. Makes life miserable for everybody.
Yes, you're doing right with the brick dust. www.herb-magic.com/red-brick-dust.html
I would also suggest some fiery wall of protection www.luckymojo.com/fierywall.html
But my neighbors are so bad that I had to lay goofer dust also (which ALWAYS works miracles for me) www.luckymojo.com/gooferdust.html
You can also go to the upper right hand side of this page. In the dark green area there is a white search box. Enter words like: Bad neighbors and see what other people are doing. There is an array of wonderful ideas for you there.
Wishing you the very best.
My soul feels your pain because I got one of them too!!
Oh, Geez. I just hate neighbors like that. Just hate them. Makes life miserable for everybody.
Yes, you're doing right with the brick dust. www.herb-magic.com/red-brick-dust.html

Re: Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour Suggestions Requests Feedback
Hello--
Isn't it possible to make your own red brick dust? Does it have to be in dust form? Can't it just be in shards/flakes and the act of hammering a brick yourself create a strong participation/intention? There must be a text source for guidance for precedent or guidance from tradition going back to the origin of its use.

Re: Red Brick Dust Questions and Answers
Hello holylight777,
I have moved your post to the correct thread on red brick dust. You were posting in the thread about new topics for the radio show. In the future, please post in the correct topic area as posting incorrectly just makes unnecessary work for the moderators and violates forum rules. Please be more careful where you post.
We do not advise on home-made products. This is a forum for customers of the Lucky Mojo Curio Company to get help on using their products. You can read through the posts in this thread on how customers are using red brick dust in their protection spells.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Re: Red Brick Dust Questions and Answers
Understood. Sorry for the needless use of your valuable time...! Point noted about home-made vs. Lucky Mojo products.
