Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Are there any problems or consequences in conjuring spells while pregnant?
Does it help or hinder?
I am so curious as to how my baby will turn out being exposed to these energies in the womb.

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
While most people say it is a bad idea to cast spells while pregnant, some Catholics hold that it should be all right if you work with Jesus, Mary, the Saints, and the Angels. There is no one answer to this question.

I would personally recommend staying away from aggressive work of any kind, or crossing work while pregnant. Positive work for a safe and easy childbrth is the exception and should be fine, as long as you don't over-exert yourself energetically.

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
I agree with Devi. As long as you are doing positive work with a focus on the child's needs, you should be fine. But I probably wouldn't engage in any negative work just because you do not want those energies to affect your baby. In addition, you should cleanse and protect yourself, and your baby. Good luck on your pregnancy!

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
I am a professional conjure woman and I am pregnant
I take on all manner of cases but my specialties are love, court case, prosperity, blessing and cleansing.
However, I have worked break up and hot foot cases for my clients and I have worked them while pregnant with no adverse effects on me or the baby. A lot of people don't agree with that position, but I only take on work that I feel is justified and I have strong protection around both me and my child.
With that said, I would not recommend taking on any "edgy" work unless you are well seasoned in the tradition.
Blessings to you and your little one!

I wish I knew about this from before, because before I knew about this forum I was performing edgy spells during my pregnancy and I did attract some negativity after my pregnancy towards me mainly and other things I wasnt informed and just lacked knowledge.

I just found out that I am pregnant. Will doing spellwork affect the pregnancy. Is there a rule on stopping spellwork until the baby is born.

Well, if your work makes someone jealous or angry enough to curse the baby, that might have an effect -- if they have a gift for such mean work. So start protection work for yourself and your baby now.
Research edible herbs that are traditionally used for protection and see if they are medically safe for pregnant women. (Pennyroyal no, garlic yes.) Then you can include them in teas and in cooking, so the baby benefits as well as yourself.
I should think that pregnancy is the perfect time for Peaceful Home, safe childbirth, and other kinds of blessing work!
Good luck and good magic,
Miss Michaele

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
I discovered hoodoo while Iwas pregnant. I was extremely intuitive and powerful during this time. Just like a woman is most powerful during her menstrual cycle. But yes, protect your baby. I personally worked with Our.Lady of Guadalupe because she is ultimate mother. Ask for her assistance if you work with Saints and spirits. As mentioned above, avoid negative work you don't.want to deal with someone seeking revenge. Doing love work on myself was difficult at this time because I was sooo hormonal and it affected my energy. But look into that mojo hand by Miss Bri it's wonderful.

Protective foods? All I have to say is PESTO!!!! Here's a great protective pesto you can make:
- 2 cups fresh basil (keeps evil away and keeps the home happy)
- 1 cup mâche lettuce (or mixed greens)
- 3 large cloves garlic (protective)
- 1/3 cup pumpkin seeds
- 3/4 cup olive oil (pray your intentions into it prior to use)
Food process or blender everything to make a paste.

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hello everyone. This week with the waning moon I have been planning to do a mirror box for reversals on a woman who has done a spell on me ...and found out I am pregnant...this is negative work, but it is for protection. i was planning to do a cleansing afterwards with a hyssop bath ritual and also found out hyssop could be harmful in pregnancy (though this is obviously not ingestion, but a short pouring down over the head). just wanted to hear your thoughts on this.
Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Good Afternoon, Konstanta!
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S !!!!!!!!
My only advice to you about the hyssop is to consult your physician.
Just tell him that it is a religious practice and you want to know if it's safe to pour this mixture on yourself.
In the event that your Physician is unsure, consult a Registered Pharmacist.
Take care of yourself and the precious life inside of you!!
Again, congrats!

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hi Konstanta,
Internally, hyssop should be avoided during pregnancy because of its actions as an emmenagogue (encourages bleeding). The hyssop is only a problem topically if you are using the essential oil. Used as a diluted herb tea for use as a pouring bath there shouldn't be an issue unless you are allergic to the herb to begin with. Dilute one cup of the tea (made with 1 tsp of herb per cup of water) to 4 cups of water as maximum strength (you can dilute quite a bit more than that).
You can also speak to a doctor as suggested by Miss Aida, or to a professional herbalist (my suggested choice, but then I am an herbalist and thus somewhat biased in this regard
) for confirmation.
Blessings.

Cat, Miss Aida and Aura, thank you all so much for your help and suggestions, so sweet of you. Ok, will be asking about Hyssop to the doctor, and the tea dilution is great advice, as well as the suggestion to use the religious practice excuse - i was afraid it might be an awkward conversation at the doctor
I'm grateful you pointed me towards the suggestions about miscarriage prevention!

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hi all,
I am looking to do a break up bottle spell but I do not know where to begin. I am pregnant with my boyfriend's baby and has cheated on me with several girls. He has told me about it but I will not see these women have satisfication over me and my unborn baby. I know nothing about these girls but the state they live in. Can I do a general break up jar with these women including him and state something like " all the women John Doe is cheating with"? I'm hoping doing this spell doesn't affect my pregnancy but I'm depressed just thinking about him with these women. I also have a pair of his underwear and socks but they are clean.

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hello, Faith_life,
Congratulations on your pregnancy!!
It is uncommon for a pregnant woman to perform a break-up spell. It is wiser to have someone else do it for you. The negative energy is not suitable for the baby, unless you feel completely justified and strong enough to undertake dark work.
You can cleanse yourself with hyssop afterwards. http://www.herb-magic.com/hyssop.html
You might want to just shower and use the hyssop water to pour over yourself (since you are with child)
If the clothes are cleaned, there's no DNA to work with.
Again, such work is not usually performed by pregnant women.
Hope this helps

Hello Faith_Life,
Of course I am not a doctor, but I do not see how creating a Break Up Vinegar Jar would affect your pregnancy on the physical level. Spirituality is another matter, of course. As Miss Aida mentioned if justified or if having a helper, you can work with vinegar jars. You can read up on them at this page (http://www.luckymojo.com/bottlespells.html)
Hope this is helpful
Peace~

Faith_life,
Hahaha. Natstein is not a woman, so although he answered you from a practical viewpoint, he did NOT know what so many of us women DO know, and that is the belief that casting spells of any kind, and especially negative spells, can "mark the baby."
I was taught this by both of my grandmothers, by my mother, and by hundreds of women from other families and various cultures from all around the world, and i believe it to, so my advice is DON'T DO IT! I would never, never, never allow a client of mine who is pregnant to cast a negative spell, ever. It is just flat-out taboo and that is that.
Just my two cents.
Since your query involves a love relationship, see also this thread:

Please read this thread from the beginning.
As you can see, it is not recommended to perform cursing or revenge spells while pregnant, but spells of blessing for the child to be are considered safe and even beneficial.

Cat- I see how serious your feelings are about spell casting during pregnancy. I'm 100% in agreeing HOWEVER, I don't know what is considered to be a bad or negative spell. Someone is causing grief during my pregnancy and I need to hotfoot them or a moving cut and clear spell. Is that considered negative work? I need them gone or at least hushed for the next 5mos.

Hello Hailey09,
Absolutely yes, doing Hot Foot work on someone is negative work. I'd advise you to hire a rootworker to do that work for you—you don't want that energy marking your baby.
You can find a reputable worker here:

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hi!
I'm really glad I stumbled upon this thread! I'm a bit at a loss. I am currently 18wks pregnant and had been considering doing a binding spell on my ex and his family (He is the father of my oldest child, not the current) to keep them from doing us all harm. I won't get into those details, but I have pursued all other avenues and have been unable to determine any other way to get them to stop. Is binding considered more negative or protection? And should I consider having someone else do it for me? It never even occurred to me that negative work could "mark" the baby. I definitely welcome advice.

Hello CheekyZauberin,
I think you could do protection work worry-free while pregnant, and I recommend you do so ASAP if you believe someone is out to harm you.
http://www.luckymojo.com/protectionspells.html
http://www.luckymojo.com/fierywall.html
And if we're talking about physical harm here, don't hesitate, just call the police.
Any work considered coercive or heavy I'd take to a professional. Here is a list of reputable workers:

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hi Desti,
Welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your time here.
To answer your questions,
1. Yes you can do work towards a marriage proposal while pregnant. Read through this thread to see that we only advise against doing negative work (cursing, etc.) while pregnant.
2. St Martha doesn't suffer men's foolishness, so she can assist you in your proposal work if your man is particularly stubborn.
http://www.luckymojo.com/products-saint-martha.html
For a safe pregnancy and delivery, carry an angelica root in a white flannel bag dressed with Blessing oil to protect you and your baby. You can then keep this near your baby after it is born.
http://www.herbmagic.com/angelica-root.html
http://www.luckymojo.com/blessing.html
If you work with saints, pray to Archangel Michael for protection.
I am not aware of any hoodoo spell to affect the color of a baby's eyes. That sounds more like Hollywood fiction to me.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Desti,
Among folk magic workers all around the world, it is commonly recommended that although blessing and safe childbirth spells are fine, most women refrain from or avoid doing negative spell work while pregnant. You can get a helper to cast a negative spell for you. Reading this thread from the beginning may give you additional ideas.
An herb that is used for getting a proposal is deers tongue herb: http://www.herbmagic.com/deers-tongue.html
Here is the link to forum topic on marriage proposals: spells-for-commitment-moving-in-engagem ... t9109.html
Lucky Mojo published a great book for women in regards to hoodoo and I think it would also be an asset to you with this work and being pregnant:

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Desti,
An example of a positive and beneficial safe-childbirth spell that pregnant women use with confidence is the German folk-magical "True Length of Mary" spell which is found in my book, "Paper in My Shoe." It consists of a series of strips of prayer-papers (which you can photocopy from the book), cut apart, and glued together to make a single long strip. You are to position it on your body from head to foot when laying down to go into labour. A prayer is then said that you will deliver your child as easily as Mary delivered Jesus.
See the entire prayer-paper here:

An example of a positive and beneficial safe-childbirth spell that pregnant women use with confidence is the German folk-magical "True Length of Mary" spell which is found in my book, "Paper in My Shoe." It consists of a series of strips of prayer-papers (which you can photocopy from the book), cut apart, and glued together to make a single long strip. You are to position it on your body from head to foot when laying down to go into labour. A prayer is then said that you will deliver your child as easily as Mary delivered Jesus.
See the entire prayer-paper here:

I hope this is the right thread for this question. If not, please move it to the most appropriate thread.
While I am not currently pregnant, I am working to prepare my body so that I can become pregnant as quickly as possible when I feel ready to try. I was wondering if all products in the love lines are safe while pregnant/trying to conceive and, if not, which should be avoided? Also the whether or not the rose cologne is safe?

NaidaBelle,
I don't know of any love herbs that would prevent pregnancy if applied to the skin. Most condition oils have carrier oils added to help prevent skin irritation. However, if you are concerned about a specific product you would like to work with like Love Me oil, I would call the shop and ask directly.

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hello NaidaBelle,
If you are referring to skin safety, then this is unique to each individual regardless of pregnancy. Do a small skin patch test first to ensure you do not have contact allergies to the ingredients.
I presume you would not be ingesting something like a condition oil so you wouldn't be concerned about toxicity. You may be more sensitive to the smoke of incense while pregnant, but that is more about irritation vs. safety.
If in doubt about any of this, speak to your GP or OB/GYN and proceed accordingly. They can provide you with medical advice that we can't offer on the forum.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hello
Does a name paper in the left shoe fall into the negative category?
I placed someone's name in my shoe when she started misbehaving towards me.
(Her name encircled with I dominate you, and she no longer gives me dirty looks, so it's been effective.)
I have since learned that I am pregnant.
Is this considered domination or controlling? Is it to be avoided while pregnant? If yes, what should I do (of course after removing it)?
Thanks in advance

queenofcups,
Very interesting question and congratulations by the way! It is controlling and dominating however, I wouldn't consider it dark work. I would still do uncrossing work like bathing in hyssop weekly or a run of baths during the waning moon to take off any negativity from the dominating spell. If this is a lot (everything can seem like a lot of work when pregnant) then I would suggest doing protective work instead. If she is a gossip, you could use Stop Gossip and there is a full spell here: https://www.luckymojo.com/stopgossip.html
I would also use Fiery Wall of Protection if you haven't already.

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Good day.
I have been gathering supplies to perform the erectile dysfunction/die penis work for the husband. I’m just waiting for the arrival of the black penis candle and 4 thieves vinegar.
I’ve written the ritual step-by-step. He continues to outsmart me in order to sleep with other women. I found out yesterday that I am pregnant. I feel as I can justify my reasons for doing this in front of God, if it ever came down to it.
I realize pregnant women should not be doing negative spells but I cannot stand to see his continuous promiscuity. It hurts and angers me deeply. I’ve forgiven him before for this thinking & hoping he would stop. I’m not cursing a person, rather his private area, in order to save the family. Now that I’m pregnant, I want my child to grow up with both of the parents in the house. I didn’t get to have that, so I only want what’s best for my unborn baby.
I appreciate any advice...

Hi Vendetta,
I'm so sorry you're going through this (but congratulations on the pregnancy!). If it's justified and you'd like it done, I'd suggest hiring a rootworker who can assist you, but also keep that negative energy away from you and your little one.
You can find workers here who help with justified cursing: www.readersandrootworkers.org.
Best of luck with everything!

Vendetta,
I read your post earlier and I thought of two ideas that may help. Are you familiar or open to working with saints? Saint Martha is known for making people and especially wandering men do as you will. Is is also known as Saint Martha the Dominator if that gives you any idea how she works. You would want to take the time to build up a relationship with her first and let her know your situation before asking for help.
You can read more about working with her and see how many people she has helped here: saint-martha-spiritual-supplies-questio ... 2-180.html
If you start in the beginning, there is some history on how to work with her and then on page 4 and 5 they there give other details about working with her like offerings and petitions. A vigil candle to her with your petition would be a great way to work. You could also have the candle burned at the Missionary Independent Spiritual Church if you prefer.
For a candle burned for you at the MISC: http://www.missionaryindependent.org/ca ... l#catholic
If working with Saints isn't for you, I would simply light a white candle with a petition to God to help you set him straight and do right by you.
Just some ideas, I hope this helps.

Fiachna Cybele,
The erectile dysfunction spell work requires his personal things, like semen, pubic hair, and possibly underwear. Do you think any of the Rootworkers would agree agree to receive and handle these items?

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Terra Rising,
I have actually worked with Saint Martha before. The individual actually got dominated by someone else versus me. In fact, the person who dominated him kind of looked like the dark-haired version of Saint Martha. So, I’m not sure what happened there, I followed all of the instructions.
I also ordered a white candle, which was more for a meditation and head clearing purposes but I will petition God for protection and to lead me in the right direction.
What’s interesting is the timing of about-to-be-done negative spell and the pregnancy. We’ve been trying for a baby for the past 10 months and it happened right when I was about to perform the erectile dysfunction ritual.
I would still have a Rootworker perform it, if he/she agrees.

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hello, Vendetta,
As a woman who lived with the cruelty of a cheating husband, and had to walk away from it, i feel for you.
However, your username -- Vendetta -- sounds like your main interest in folk magic is as a way to get even. It also indicates that you were under tremendous mental stress when you joined this forum.
As a practicing root doctor with a traditional bent, i would like to tell you that performing an erectile dysfunction spell on your husband while you are carrying your mutual child is an act of desperation that not many rootworkers will sign on to as collaborators. The way i was taught, it will "mark the baby" -- and you may end up with a child who cannot reproduce. I know that i would not take such a case while a woman was pregnant.
I believe that you are in need of support and comfort, and a calm place to pause and consider what this pregnancy means to you, given his cheating.
If birthng the child of a known cheater -- and rewarding him wihth offspring -- is your rational choice, then your next requirement is a physically and emotionally safe place to bring the pregnancy to term, with loving family members and friends to help you during the birth and afterward.
Please make those your priorities, and do not let vengeance set the tone of your pregnancy.

Thank you for your reply, ms Catherine.
I realize that staying with him will just feed my hate. I believe I'll move back to my home state, prior to giving birth, to raise my child there. He will have to fly 3,000 miles to see the child.
Is it normal for my hate to grow daily? I couldn't help it today but soak his shirt in vinegar and throw it in the trash. I know it's wrong but why did it feel so good and so right?
I'll make sure to sage myself tonight...

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hi Vendetta,
I'm not Miss cat, but if I may, I can't speak to what's "normal," but I do think your rage is completely understandable. It feels good because feeding that kind of anger is stimulating and satisfying, even if it's not necessarily best for the baby. Your anger is justified, even if it's not particularly helpful to your pregnancy, if that makes sense.
I think the best thing you can do since you're moving away and getting a fresh start somewhere safe and loving, is look into a Cut and Clear, as well as cleansing baths, to get rid of all that built-up negativity.
You can read more about Cut and Clear spells here:
https://www.luckymojo.com/cutandclear.html
Note on cleansing: Please make sure any herbs you want to use are pregnancy safe. You can consult with your doctor as well as any certified herbalist, if you're unsure. Hyssop is one that may not be 100% safe while you're carrying, so please be mindful.
You can read about cleansing baths here:
cleansing-before-and-or-after-performin ... 54-60.html
I think you're so strong and courageous getting away from that man and starting a new life far away. Wishing you and your baby the absolute best!

Hi Fiachna Cybele,
Thank you for recommending the cleansing baths. I have also ordered Florida water bar soaps.
The pregnancy hormones are definitely not helping my rage:) I feel so empowered, for some reason.
I truly wished and dreamed that my child grows up in a family with both parents present, instead of a single parent like I was.. I have forgiven him not once but multiple times. I really gave it my best. I'll get to be close to my mom again: the only person, who will never betray me and will love me unconditionally until the end of time. Darn, typing this just made me cry.. 8 more months of the emotional rollercoaster:)

Hi Vendetta,
Bless you, hon. This is a very powerful time for you, and I have a really strong feeling that this is the beginning of a beautiful new chapter. I'm so glad you have someone who you know loves and supports you, no matter what. That's exactly the kind of environment to really use this power you have right now to focus on what kind of life you want you little girl or boy to have and use that strong intent to bless them, as well as yourself.
I really think those baths will help you feel fresher and more focused. We're all rooting for you. Best of luck to you and your little one!

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Good morning.
The husband apparently got up in the middle of the night last night itching all over. He took a Benadryl and went back to bed. He has never done this before.
I find it strange after I had just poured vinegar on his shirt and threw it away earlier in the day.... Could this just be a coincidence?

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hi Vendetta,
Interesting! Vinegar is usually used to sour someone's life, so he could definitely be getting uncomfortable from the anger that you put into dunking and tossing his shirt.
You can read more about Vinegar Jar Spells here, to see how other people's works affected their targets: general-vinegar-jar-questions-and-answers-t5581.html
Again, though, please be careful not to do negative work while pregnant, as it can "mark" the baby.

Vendetta,
When you do a powerful work like soaking his shirt in vinegar and then he wakes up itching, do not undercut youself by asking a forum board of random helpers, all of whom are magicians, root doctors, conjure women, and spell-casters -- " Could this just be a coincidence?"
We are here, in this life, in this traditioon, because we believe in the power of prayer, the power of magical work, and the power of throwing roots. My advice is -- if you get a result like that, thank your god, your ancestors, and the spirits that attend upon you, and walk on in power and strength.

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hi all, I am new here.
Currently pregnant and feel like I need to protect myself because a lot of bad stuff has been happening. The father of my child went missing in action, my mother not talking to me for months, feels like I have nobody left and I know there is a lot of jealous females in my life. I feel like I might be getting attacked.
I bought a spell/curse remover candle online but a friend of mine who is a meduim said I should not be using it now because I am pregnant. Is this true? and if so, why not? I just want protection and peace.
Thank u

Re: Spell-Casting While Pregnant Questions and Answers
Hello, Anita34,
Welcome to the Lucky Mojo Forum. I have moved your post to the topic-thread in which it belongs. Please do not make "loose" posts. Always find and use an existing topic thread. You can then go back and READ THE THREAD FROM THE BEGINNING and see if your question has already been asked and answered. In this case it has been -- several times.
The only extra issue you bring before us is the question of an unknown candle purchased online from an unknown seller. I will address that, and i will also, for once and for all, give a long, definitive, and "quotable" reply to the underlying question of spell-casting during pregnancy.
1) THE TOXICITY OF CERTAIN HERBS WITH RESPECT TO PREGNANCY:
While we cannot comment on the candle you bought since it apparently was not made or prepared by our shop -- and this is the Lucky Mojo Curio Co. customer forum -- i will try to respond cogently:
We have no idea how the candle you bought was fixed with herbs or oils -- or, more importantly, with what it was prepared.
There are herbs that are contra-indicated for use in pregnancy, and even if burning them on a candle will not be medically toxic, it will certainly bring their spiritual essence into your pregnancy, which would be a spiritually dangerous idea.
Here's an example:
One of the most often used herbs for protection against spiritual attack is Black Snake Root, also known as Black Cohosh. It is crushed and crumbled and sprinkled on candles for this purpose by thousands of people every year. However, Black Snake Root is also an abortifacient. That means it was used in the old days to "protect" a woman from an unwanted pregnancy as a medical decoction to bring about the death of the fetus and a subsequent miscarriage.
So if a protection candle was dressed with such a herb, it may not bring about a matter of medical complication, but spiritually speaking, that would be a very unfortunate choice for you.
You need to know your supplier and read up on folk magic, not simply buy things online. If you are pregnant, call the company -- every reputable spiritual supplier will have a phone number, an email address, or a forum such as ours -- and ASK BEFORE YOU BUY. The companies will not give you their full formulas, of course, but they will be able to respect and honestly reply to the question, "Is there Black Snake Root in this product?"
So, basically, your friend urged caution, and i agree.
2) THE SPIRITUAL FOLKLORE OF PREGNANCY
For reasons of toxicity like the above -- and for ANOTHER reason -- it is widely believed and advocated in world-wide folklore and folk magic of many cultures, that pregnant women should not cast ANY spells. It is widely believed that their only and sole spiritual work should be to nurture the growing fetus and bring the baby safely into the world.
Unless you bought the candle from one of those fake spiritual stores that just sends you factory-made candles straight off a shelf, with no preparation, the prayers said over a candle when it is prepared for a client have meaning, and they attach to the candle. Some prayers of protection are mild, some are harsh. Some are for protection or cleansing only, and some also contain a counter-curse that will rebuke or damage the sender of an attack.
As a pregnant woman, i think you would not want a protection candle that included a counter-curse, especially one that involved the death of the people attacking you -- but unless you ask, or trust, the supplier, you have no clue as to what they pray (or don't pray) over their candles.
For example, we make a number of protective candles, such as Guardian Angel, Protection, Fiery Wall of Protection, Revering, Destruction, Damnation, and DUME (Death Unto My Enemies). We also make two candles that take off curses -- Uncrossing and Jinx-Killer. Each of these candles is different from the others.
For a pregnant woman, i personally would only recommend the Guardian Angel candle, which is protective, and also shows a pair of children being guarded by the angel.
Now, you may not know it (i assume you do not, or you would not have questioned us as to why your friend said what she did), but it is told in many cultures, that if a pregnant woman acts out of fear, anger, anxiety, or other negative emotion, it will "mark the baby." This "mark" can be physical (a birth-mark or deformity), mental (a child who is fearful, angry, or anxious), or spiritual (a child who has moral or ethical troubles).
This belief is so widespread that i was taught it by both of my grandmothers and my mother while i was still a child, and reminded of it while i was pregnant by my mother as well as a dozen of my friends. Over my decades as a reader, rootworker, and manufacturer in the spiritual supply business, i have heard the same belief stated by hundreds of my female clients and customers.
If you do not have a belief in folklore, then attending to this forum and discussing folk magic with us here would be useless to you, but it is a very deep-rooted belief that during a pregnancy, a time when you already have enough on your hands remaining calm, properly fed, well exercised, and emotionally unstressed, it is a great mistake to actively seek out a space of spiritual ambiguity, not to mention vulnerability, such as spell-casting against known enemies, even if only for protection and not for revenge.
Prayer to God, however, is encouraged. Among Catholics, prayers to Mother Mary (The Blessed Virgin Mother); to Jesus, Mary, and, Joseph (The Holy Family); to the Angels and Archangels; and to certain Saints, such as Saint Raymond Nonatus (who ensures an easy delivery) are prescribed and encouraged. In addition, there are two special Psalms recited by Jews as well as by Protestant, Orthodox, and Catholic Christians, and two special Surahs recited by Muslims for the safety of a pregnancy. See these Association of Independent Readers and Rootworkers (AIRR) pages for more on that topic, and use your browser's "find" function to search on the keyword "pregnancy":

Category:The Benefits of the Recitation of Certain Surahs at AIRR
http://readersandrootworkers.org/wiki/C ... ain_Surahs
Additionally, the wearing of protective talismans is prescribed for pregnant women in many cultures -- but the making of such talismans is generally hired out to a professional
So, whether you believe me and my family folklore or not, since you are here, let me function as a stand-in for your grandmother or great-grandmother: "Don't cast spells while you are pregnant, honey -- you'll mark the baby!"
Hire a rootworker or have your friend light the candle.
Good luck!
P.S. To the Forum Moderators: I spent quite a while on this reply, not just for the sake of this querent, but for the good of the Forum. If anyone asks a similar question in the future, just refer them to this message, okay? Thanks.
