I'm just putting this out there: I am an unashamed Deacon fangirl. He's a really soothing and caring person. He's been patient and helpful at showing me how to adapt things for my allergies and asthma (everything makes me cough, itch, or break out). There aren't a lot of people who can or will do that. He'll even remind me not to do stuff that will be too physically harsh.
He also encourages you to learn how to trust your own spiritual intuition. This does not mean that you can cut corners everywhere, deciding that this or that part of a spell is unnecessary. He's too steeped in the tradition to do that. What I mean is that you can ask him "does this seem like a logical next step?" "Should I try X next?" and he'll let you know and provide some guidance. You'll come away feeling not just as though you learned something for that specific situation, but something in general. Next time, you'll have this little extra bit of knowledge and you'll have gone a bit further along the path.
I really like the deck of cards he uses. It's interesting, and so are the interpretations. I think topmost is that he's optimistic, by which I mean that he'll help you find the best path out of a situation. You may not get everything you thought you ever wanted, especially since that can be a kind of curse in itself. He may be the Reconciliation Dude, but if he tells you to cut bait, cut it. You WILL be better off. Anyway, I'm happy with the work I've done with him so far. I'm looking forward to building on it in the future.
EDIT: Also, read his books.
Thank you, St. Michael, for your protection.
