Wholesale Ordering Questions and Answers

Unread postby Malefic » Thu Dec 31, 2009 4:39 pm

When buying wholesale, it says goods manufactured by LMCC are discounted 50% and items distributed are discounted 30%

My question is, do herbs and curios count as distributed goods or manufactured goods? Also, are spellkits considered manufactured?

Hi, Malefic.

I'm guessing you should probably call the shop with this question. I once asked a question here regarding an order I'd placed and learned this forum is run by volunteers, not the LM staff. Give them a call or send an email to orders@luckymojo.com to get in touch with someone who can answer this query.

If I had to guess I would say the herbs and curios are manufactured (since LM actually makes those themselves) and items like books that are made elsewhere would be distributed.

Hi Varuni-

You will need to contact Lucky Mojo directly. This forum is not customer service for the company, so none of us here can help you with setting that up. Give the shop a call. :)

Hello, Varuni,

I will try to answer yur questions as best i can.

First, our email address -- order@luckymojo.com -- has been working for about 14 years and should not produce a failure notice.

Second, we do have overseas / foreign wholesale accounts, so that is not going to be a problem, provided that you understand the cost of shipping and customs / duties, which are not under our control.

Third, for Wholesale Terms, including minimum orders, minimum quantities, etc. please go here:

http://luckymojo.com/wholesale.html

Thank you and good luck!

Hi, Varuni..I'd suggest that you give them a call if it's especially urgent. This might means to trouble yourself further just to get to them but trust me, they WILL pick up the call and provide you the services you'll be needing. I've got through on my 1st call. Sometimes emailing may be faulty when the servers are unstable. I did call them once regarding a cancellation and they've helped me much on it..but I do have to stress this though. If it's a cancellation, do what you can to get to them fast. Otherwise, some charges will incur..but that's just how the procedures go..and I certainly respected that.

resale to other countries

Unread postby amandine » Tue Jun 14, 2011 10:06 am

I am selling clothes online to Japanese customers, and was considering marketing hoodoo products to them as well. Would I be stepping on any toes at LM to sell their products to a country where I don't have a brick-and-mortar store? I would put a lot of work into translating and editing the information for this audience. At the very least I want to open an affiliate site to do this.

Check out this link where you can read some prerequisites of re-sale, such as:

"If you are too far away to visit the LUCKY MOJO CURIO CO. shop in Forestville, California, but you live near one of these other fine hoodoo stores, you can find our LUCKY MOJO BRAND SPIRITUAL SUPPLIES, occult goods, and metaphysical curios right on their shelves.

The Student ID# under the shop owner's name means that he or she has enrolled in cat yronwode's year-long Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course. The (G) after the Student ID# means that the proprietor has graduated from the course with honours.

The Hoodoo Rootwork Course Student ID# and (G) are your guarantee that your local store not only carries genuine Lucky Mojo hoodoo spiritual supplies, but that it is under the direction of a conjure practitioner who has been trained in authentic and traditional root doctoring techniques. "

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Joseph. I've actually been looking at the terms listed here:
http://www.luckymojo.com/wholesale.html
I don't think one needs to be a student or graduate in order to do resale (I am interested in taking the course sometime though!). And LM is much in need of retailers to Asia (although not located there, I have experience doing business and interacting with those cultures) and in my home city of Chicago. So I thought this would be a great business to do. :)

Dear Senora 63,

Thank you kindly for your interest in becoming a Lucky Mojo wholesale customer. We will be glad to serve you when the time comes.

As to your question about the possibility of naming your new shop LuckyHoodoo or MojoRoot:

LuckyHoodoo is already taken -- Big Lucky Hoodoo is Karma Zain's shop and blog and reading site.

MojoRoot is already taken and is not in use, but a whois lookup determines that somebody owns it and it is registered at GoDaddy.

Not only is it not available, it is so generic that people will not be able to tell you from 3 dozen other places with similar names like CongoRoots, ConjureRoots, HoodooRoots, MilagroRoots, and so forth, the owners of which are all my students, all of whose sites all have been online for years, and all of whose shops will be better known than your site.

Make your OWN name.

Back in the day, people had originality, but everybody found their shops anyway. What follows is a list of varied and dynamic shop names i have liked -- some defunct, some brand new, some long-time in business. I am not endorsing their products or the lines they sell or the work they do or did, but i want you to see how wonderful a name can really be.

Sonny Boy Products,
Skippy's Candles,
The Lama Temple,
Triple Crown Conjure,
Keystone Laboratories,
Grandma's Candle Shop,
King Novelty Co.,
Clover Horn Company,
Oracle Products,
Egypt Candle Shop,
Lucky Heart Laboratories,
Candles and Curios,
Dr. Pryor's Products,
Rondo's Temple Sales Co.,
Phoenix Candle Shop,
Bichon's Drug Store,
Ar-Jax Products,
Church Goods,
The Hindu Mysterious Store,
Lucky Mojo Curio Co.,
Athenian Candle Co.,
Stanley Drug Store,
Fulton Religious Supply,
Craft and Conjure,
Wisdom Products,
Rajah Rabo,
Lady Luck Candle Shop,
Curio Sales Co.,
Miller's Rexall,
Lady Dale's Curio Shop,
Mysteria Products,
The Cracker Jack Drug Store,
Sovereign Products Supply Co.
Green and White Grocery,
Black Cat Root Shack,
Guidance House,
The Dixie Drug Store,
Harry's Occult Shop,
Indian Sales Co.,
Lucky Star Candles,
etc.

These are and/or were actual hoodoo, conjure, and rootwork shops. Notice how varied and original the names are.

Go forth and do likewise!

You can do it!

Hello Lucky Mojo

I would like to buy wholesale and sell your items here in Australia on Ebay but I don't have a licence.

Is a licence required for foreign wholesale orders as Ebay Australia doesnt require a licence to sell.

pls help would love to supply your products here down under.

Kindest Regards :)

Hello, Witchmail --

The reason we need a copy of your business license is that we do not charge California state sales tax to our wholesale customers and our state, California, requires that we keep business licenses of all of our wholesale customers on file so we can prove that we had a legitimate and legal reason to not collect sales tax from them, either because they do business in another state or because they are actual wholesale customers.

Here is the place i found to check for business licensing requirements in Australia:

Business Licence Information Service
http://www.bli.net.au/
The Business Licence Information Service (BLIS) is a free service that provides details of all licences you may require to operate your business in Australia, including Commonwealth, State/Territory and Local Government requirements.

From there you pick your state or territory and you will be directed to addresses, phone numbers, web sites, and free information packets to download.

Good luck, and i hope you succeed in your plan! We would love to see our goods carried in Australia

Hello, i have submitted my wholesale information. I was told it has been accepted. the name of my company is The Indigo Door LLC
Prior to becoming a distributor i have placed many personal orders. My questions are, do i have to create a new account under my company name when i am using the shopping cart and may I place wholesale orders by telephone?
Thank you for all of your good work

Hi, shellysweet --

Thanks for your interest in carrying our products.

1) We will automatically create a new WHOLESALE account number for you if you tell us to. Please be sure to note this in the message area of your order. Say something like:

"This is my first WHOLESALE ORDER and i need a NEW ACCOUNT NUMBER for this order. Do not connect this order to my previous retail account."

The reason you need to be so specific is that the discount is taken in the database based on whether the account number itself is flagged as wholesale or retail -- so if the order were to be added to your extant retail account, the wholesale discount would not be taken.

2) We do not accept wholesale orders by phone or email. We make little, if any, profit on wholesale orders and must streamline them to the max -- just order with the shopping cart and the entire order will be automatically flowed over to the database for invoicing, using the minimal employee work time.

3) Remember that we do not (yet) have a wholesale shopping cart. Your wholesale discount will not show up in your total. The wholesale discount will be taken when the order is transferred to our database.

4) Also, the shipping amount shown on your shopping cart will not be correct (yet) because it will be a flat rate based on your (supposed) retail order. The actual wholesale shipping charge will be calculated after the box is packed and weighed and it will be charged to your card as a second charge.

Thanks again for carrying our goods. We really appreciate it!

Hi everyone. I just registered today, but my wife and I have been ordering products from Lucky Mojo for several years now. We love the products as they have been very helpful too us both. I have found interest in my area from friends and others regarding various amulets and the like. I want to know is it possible to not have the label of the address at the bottom stating it is from lucky mojo on the candle and only what it does on it instead ? can you print personal labels with my name and address on it if i provide information instead of having lucky mojo's address and name on it?

Thank you,

Having the Lucky Mojo label is to your advantage, as they have a reputation for top quality. Putting your name on the products would imply that you made them and is rather insulting to the people at Lucky Mojo who put so much effort into putting out some of the best products I have ever used.

Thanks for your replies and let me explain why I asked the question. I love the labels and Lucky Mojo and would be proud to have them. The reason I asked the question is in regards to residual customers. If I sell a lotion or such with the Lucky Mojo info on it they would have no need to buy from me anymore when they could buy directly from Lucky Mojo. I would like to build a clientele that I build locally, but if they have access to the main company it might be hard to do so. I meant no disrespect at all and again, I do appreciate the replies, I was just curious as to the best way of keeping the people I sell too as my personal customers.

Thanks again

I don't work for LuckyMojo, and hopefully Miss Cat will step in and give up the final word on this, but if I was in Luckymojo's position, I certainly would not sell you anything without the company information on it. The people buying the products have a right to know who actually made them and how to get in touch with them. It is a bit dishonest to try and sell a luckymojo product without all the information on its label, as you then imply that you made it.

I would think not, you did not make the candle, and if is a prepared candle you had no hand in dressing it. Why should it have your contact information on it?

tdp 450 --

Funny how no grocery store objects to cans of Coca Cola having the corporate address for Coke on the cans, and no feed store objects to the address for Purina Hen Scratch being on the 50 lb. sack. I buy my Coca Cola at a Safeway and my hen scratch at Frizelle Enos Feed Store -- not from the manufacturer.

How do you keep customers if you sell another company's products? Why, the old-fashioned way, with great service, a good selection, and plenty of personal information and assistance. We do it ourselves, selling McLean's liniment, Chinese herbal pharamceuticals, Indian brands of incense, Hoyt's Cologne, and Murray & Lanman's Colognes. We don't pretend they are ours!

We think that if you establish a good, local customer base, you will do quite well selling Lucky Mojo supplies. Plenty of people do!

Hi there.

I am currently located in Japan where there are either no metaphysical stores or none that speak English. I am American but while my husband is here for military duty, I am looking to open up a small business out of my home to sell products and I know a lot of my friends have been trying to get their hands on LM products but are turned off by not only the international shipping charge but the fact that because it is international, it is impossible for the products to get here within the same week, let alone overnight. I want to be able to supply it out of a little shop in my home.

I do have an EIN... would that be enough to qualify to sell wholesale? I am honestly not sure how to go about getting a reseller license as I am not Japanese and my citizenship is in America and my clientele are military or their spouses.

You might well want to call the shop directly to ask - it's certainly the fastest way to get a complete answer on the subject! Good luck and success setting up shop :)

Each state has its own differing system of state tax ID numbers, business license numbers, etc. for which they collect fees -- and some cities have additional licenses and fees -- but In your case, a US EIN number should be enough, since you are on a US Federal military base and not operating within or subject to the laws of any particular state's business licensing procedures. I am sure that if this is wrong, a tax collector will eventually knock on your door and tell you so. :-)

I would also like to apply for a wholesale account with Lucky Mojo. I just got my approval from the City to do it at home and would love to get going on this. My business will be home based and located in Wyoming for the meantime, because we are planning on moving to Pennsylvania next July. So, what do I need to do to apply for a wholesale account?

Hello,

I have a question about reselling Lucky Mojo products, but do not have any plans at current to become a wholesaler. This is just something I want to do earn enough money to pay for my own products and perhaps help ends meet at home. I plan to begin making and selling small candle ritual kits on Etsy. I have an idea for an oil blend that I'd like to include in the package. This would be a combination of Lucky Mojo oils as I love, love, love them!

Can I purchase the blends in the 4 ounce size and then include them in smaller rectangular capped bottles, one in each kit? If so, how would I label them? I will list which oils are in the blend and where they come from in the listing details. But people will lose the listing eventually, so I want to label the bottles so that they don't forget they are Lucky Mojo oils, not my own. Is doing something like this allowed?

Thanks,
Jordan

conjurerheart,

I do not think we have had a Canadian reseller in the past 5 or 6 years. We may have more resellers in Singapore and Taiwan!

This thread is not about resellers, however, it is actually about how to BECOME a reseller. It is a thread FOR wholesale sales, not about who buys wholesale. The thread you are looking for is here:

Hi all,

This is potentially putting the cart before the horse, but I've sampled the quality of products and witnessed some impressive results... I would eventually like to become a reseller! I have a few questions which would help me through the thought process.

1. I have a business which I've operated for 20 years. Just as a plumber couldn't purchase Cubeb berries and call it a "supply," I'm assuming I would require a new EIN to operate a completely unrelated business?

2. I noticed the possibility of an online storefront with Lucky Mojo handling order fulfillment. This would be perfect for oils, candles, and other items I wouldn't intend to create or supply myself. Perhaps the timing of my first order wasn't ideal- I ordered right on the heels of the Hoodoo festival and it took a while for the order to arrive. I also understand there might have been unusual circumstances at play, delaying the order. I'm ok with that, but online customers might not be so understanding... Especially on, say, an Etsy or other online store where purchasers leave feedback. What would I be able to offer customers in terms of estimates for order fulfillment if I chose to have Lucky Mojo fulfill orders rather than keep stock on hand? Would it be better to keep items in stock or was the delay unusual?

3. Does Lucky Mojo wholesale herbs in bulk? I am fortunate to live in an area where Mother Nature supports a vast supply of diverse little plant babies and have a handful of my own mixes I currently wholesale to a couple of shops. Now that I've been reading Ms. Cat's book, I'd like to modify my recipes and many of the items aren't available here or may not grow well. For personal use, I have absolutely no qualms with purchasing herbs retail, but it isn't cost effective if I'm purchasing for use in mixes which I would also wholesale. I'm weighing this issue most carefully. For now, I'm simply testing new herbs with the new knowledge I'm gaining, but it's clear I will need to consider the cost should I decide to make the new herb changes a permanent addition.

4. I may also have herbs/plants available to sell or trade. I harvest responsibly, trying not to leave evidence I've been sniffing around and make sure little plant babies will return strong the following year. I'm not a commercial grower by any standard, but could likely supplement the LM catalog with leaves, flowers, berries- some roots depending on the plant. I refuse to disturb the roots of my blackhaw, hence the recent purchase of devil's shoe strings. Is there anything you need from the south? Are there certain plants you usually obtain from multiple sources which I might be able to supply and what are you most interested in obtaining or having someone grow specifically for Lucky Mojo? (This question might be better suited in a different thread I saw somewhere, but for me ties into the question of whether herbs can be purchased in bulk wholesale or some other arrangement can be established.)

This is a HUGE decision and one I'm not approaching lightly. I have always enjoyed trekking the woods, mainly for edible/medicinal natives, and to supply sweetgrass/cedar/random mixes of healing herbs to friends as a HOBBY only. It is completely unrelated to my current profession, but I see ways to incorporate my current skills into the practice of Hoodoo and change directions completely. It's scary and exciting. Under current circumstances I see myself moving more in the direction of Hoodoo and Conjure, and hanging the same ol' grind out to dry. I will certainly be responsible about the decision- I can't think of anything else day or night, it consumes every spare minute, and seems worth it to explore where the interest might lead.

Interestingly, despite multiple purchases, my bank account balance has never dipped. Money keeps arriving from unexpected sources, sometimes for nearly the same amount and on the same day as an LM order! I take it as a gift and a sign I've been moving in the right direction! I have Clarity oil coming with my next purchase, I'm gonna need it, but your answers to some of these questions will help tremendously.

Thanks in advance...

You're just everywhere, aren't you!? Lol! Thanks, I'm glad we keep crossing paths. I'm considering getting a reading to help me really set a direction/course while using my current strengths to set what I'd like to do apart from the crowd. My head is literally spinning with ideas, and this isn't a negative thing AT ALL, just a bit overwhelming for it all to uncork at one time. I'm very interested to hear how I may be of service, help others and help myself in the process. Thank you for always being so quick to jump in wherever I may post, it's made me feel very comfortable here. :D

Hello, amithyzt ,

Actually, you really ought to call the shop and talk to Leslie, the manager. She's a sweetheart and very nice.

She would know the answers and handle these matters and can better help you.

Thanks!

Thank you for the advice,

I'm going to tuck that nugget of info away until I've spoken to my accountant about tax considerations (the EIN issue as well) and there may be a few more (or fewer) questions afterwards. I may also be asking questions which won't really need answers for six months to a year from now. I've considered sitting with the idea to let it settle in, see if it still feels the same next week, the week after? What about a week after that? If I still feel as strongly after I've taken time to sleep & pray on it, I'll be on the horn faster than you can say "reseller!"

Hello, Amithist,

Here are some answers to your questions:

1. Yes, your business license and EIN must reflect the business that you are actually engaged in.

2. We are not currently offering new storefronts. The extant ones -- Spiritual Spells, Black Cat Root Shack, and Candles and Curios -- are all that we can handle at the present time. All other wholesales simply purchase and resell.

3. We do not sell herbs in bulk. Our herbs are sold by he packet and each packet comes with a useful label containing a free spell. See the complete line of products we carry here:

http://luckymojo.com/inventory.html

4. We do indeed create trades with trusted herb growers. We would have to talk about these matters individually as we do not maintain a specific want list. Herbs are seasonal and go in and out of stock regularly.

Thanks for your interest.

Thank you for answering my questions. I'd come to the same conclusion about the EIN. There's no honest way to say any purchases I would make from Lucky Mojo could fit into my current supply materials... Not by any stretch of imagination! There are still multiple options and considerations to discuss with others, but your answers have helped tremendously. I appreciate your thorough response, and thank you with all my heart!

I have a couple more questions, is it indicated online when an herb goes out of stock or is it removed from the catalog and reappears later as it becomes available? How might we be made aware of anything in short supply?

Thank you again...

Hello, amithyzt ,

Sometimes it will say out of stock and other times it doesn't.

But they won't notify you when back in stock online.

They will give you an idea if you call
