I find Sunday and Friday great days to work money spells especially during the waxing moon. But remember money is always needed...

Depends how deperate you are. If you need to eat and you have no food int he house and no money to buy any, then the best day for money work is TODAY. If you're not in that bad a situation, then you can worry more about which day of the week.

Sunday is the day of success, healing, etc - it's a good all-purpose day for good intents.

I would not get wrapped up in the days of the week too much. However, sunday is a good day to start multiple things. Each day is powerful in its own right. If you wanted the work started on a monday or Friday, then you should request for the worker to do so.

FYI you can start work on any day of the week. So I am not sure what is to be confused about, but you can start the work on certain days if you want. If you wanted it started on a particular day then email him back.

Remember that not every worker works by the days of the week. Timing of spells are done in a dozen different ways and sometimes just based on need alone. When you need something done no day's better than the present.

That's interesting. I was just confused bc I thought it was more powerful to start reconcilliation on certain days. Thanks for clearing this up. Also, I have a question, but is off topic. I'm wondering, can children be a target of someone, like hurting them or cursing them? I've been told God won't let that happen but just want to make sure. This other woman is very evil. Thanks.

Kids can be a target, although I've always believed that they're naturally more protected from magical influences than adults. If this is about your children though I'd do some protection work just to be safe.

Children can indeed be the target of magical attack, and its very often easier to affect them.

This is a little off topic, but I was wondering if there was a link anyone could share about a timeline for reconciliation. I know it varies how long it could take but what is the average time to have reconciliation work start happening? Thanks.

It varies by your situation. There is not an "average" time. Matter of fact there isnt an average time for any spell. What might be 5 weeks for someone else it might be 6 months for another. It depends on a lot of factors. If you want and after then it should be 3 days for signs, 3 weeks for movement, and 3 months towards final outcome.

Unread post by Rainbow95 » Thu Jun 10, 2010 8:43 am

i want to perform a attraction/ love spell but don't know which day is the best.

some people are saying sunday, some are saying friday??

i prefer to do this during the waxing moon.
also there's a dark moon tomorrow (friday) and a new moon this saturday (but i read that Saturdays are for destruction so i don't want to do it then lol)

You have about a 2 day window in the dark and full moon, where you get basically the same effect - so you can wiggle a bit if you're working with planetary and lunar timing.

Friday is always a prime day for love work, as it is linked to Venus.

Remember - not every working takes timing into consideration. If it's causing a problem for you, then don't.

If I was working by the moon, I would do cleansing & road opening work during the dark moon. I would wait until it was waxing to do drawing work.

Best day of the week for nailing down your home?

Unread post by Maljen » Thu Jun 17, 2010 3:38 pm

I just ordered my railroad spikes to nail down my home and secure a civilian lease here in housing. Now my question is this. what day of the week is best to do this? I know cursing/reversing/destruction is Tues/Sat and love is Mon/Weds/Friday. But what day would be best for the home?

Love is not Mon-Wednesday-Friday, that is the days cited to be used to work a love honey jar due to the various planetary associations with those days are conducive to love work (which is generally a Friday activity, since that is Venus' day). For example, Wednesday is in there as it is Mercury's day, which is good for fostering positive and constructive communications, which are useful when pursuing love, but also business, success, court case or anything else where good communication could be useful. Monday (moon) is good for emotions, intuition, etc, which plays into many different pursuits, including love, but also psychicism, etc. Tuesdays are related to Mars, and so enemy work is done then, but you can also use it for protection, or for extra confidence/agression, etc. Friday, which is Venus' day, can also be used for money because Venus rules luxury and all kinds of sensual pleasure...and money helps you get those things.

The thing is every planet can be used for any purpose, you just have to know how that planet works so you'll know how to get that energy to work for your cause.

I would nail down my house on a Tuesday to protect it. But you could choose other planets if you were looking for a different way to approach the problem. Sunday is another good day, as it's related to success - so you could go about it as successfully defending your home, or remaining in your home successfully, etc.

Which Day of the Week for Love Candles?

Unread post by bounsyphom » Wed Jul 07, 2010 1:44 pm

As far as Vigil candles go, can I buy the Lucky Mojo oils and dress my own candles, or do they have to be candles that are specifically already dressed from LM?

And also when can I start burning the candles? I heard Friday is good for love work.

You can dress any candles yourself. Friday is an ideal day for love work as it is linked to the planet Venus.

I have a Fire of Love Vigil candle that I have waiting to burn on the new moon (July 11) and I had a plain red jar candle that I decided to make into a Follow Me Boy Vigil candle with a picture of Me and beneath that a picture of the "target". On the top of the candle I imbedded appropriate herbs, and dressed it with Follow Me Boy and Love Me and Kiss Me Now oils. I don't have the shinney little stuff on top like the one I got from LM, but it's not bad for a first attempt.

Would it be better to light a Vigil candle this Friday while the moon is still waning, or wait for the new moon on Sunday?

Here's a link to forum moderator Lara Rivera''s ebay guide. You can merge this with what Mama Micki said as well.

http://reviews.ebay.com/The-Schedule-of ... 0012027514

I cut and pasted it below and I added some things in bold

Sunday: Success; Achievement; Goals; Purificationuncrossing work, saint work if you do not know what day is their particular day, job getting work
Monday: Emotional Healing; Nurturing; Calming; Fertility Reconciliation work
Tuesday: Protection; Conflict; War, crossing, break up work, domination
Wednesday: Communications; Speed, Reversing Spells, Artistic; Creativity; Road Opener job getting work
Thursday: Healing; Protection; Money, controlling, commanding, domination
Friday: Love, and Drawing (often money drawing - because Venus is associated with the color green, and Friday was and is associated with payday) Reconciliation
Saturday: Crossing, Cursing, Debaucherybanishing, if you want to get rid of something, break up work

There are no set particular days that will yield you better results. There are however days when certain work can be done according to planetary influence if you choose to work by that. There is actually no steadfast rule in hoodoo about doing spell work according to days of the week, times or moon phases - you can basically do the work when you need to and still get good results.

Also, Friday is actually a better day for love work. Tuesday is more in line with cursing, conflict, etc.

I missed today being good for love work can I do anything?

Unread post by ShadowyEmbrace » Fri Aug 13, 2010 9:39 pm

Well I had today off and had planned on working a special candle for her but b/c of my schedual I hadn't slept alot lately I laid down to take a nap before starting work so I'd feel refreshed but then a friend called me and woke me up she (and no this is another girl that's just a good friend) was upset about something so I couldn't just be like "yo I'm taking a nap call me back later" I had to talk to to her tohelp her sort out her problems. The problem was I had set my alarm for like an hour after I laid down and in talking to her it went off and I turned it off on my phone. I laid back down but forgot to reset my alarm and slept till like 11 pm! I started and got my honey jar working before midnight but is all lost now that its technicially saturday?

I think because you STARTED it'll be fine. Lemme check my astrology calendar real quick.
Yeah, depending on your time zone (I'm PST) you should be good astrologically till tomorrow afternoon/evening. And even if you missed a what you think was a narrow window of opportunity, it doesn't really matter, all isn't "lost" because you didn't set your clock by the stars.

Shadowy Embrace, I'm a novice; but you still made it in by --working, lighting, starting and praying on a Friday--even if for just 20 minutes going into the Saturday AM. Whatever you were working on must not have involved sunrise or sunset, but days of the week like Mon, Wed, and Fri. Just because it is burning for a 2-4 hour candle should not make a difference going into the wee hours of Saturday morning-IF IT INVOLVES DAYS OF THE WEEK. (you did burn "start" on Friday) I know you like attention to detail, as do I. Now, as your candle is lit and I mean this sincerely, not sarcastically or jokingly-- don't burn the house down!
I work my honey Jars during the day with "hands of the clock". I do any banishing work at sundown.I have left protection candles burning WITH EXTREME CAUTION TAKEN UNTIL THEY GO OUT.
Stay confident in you and your work. It is Ok. Just becareful if you are burning while asleep if you are... I have gone to bed with candles burning I took drastic measures to insure safety!
going to check out and nap out soon myself... early day tomorrow!

Oh okay cool thanks Eilis, I've been wondering about that because of my schedual I have to do most my work at night and I've been wondering like with my honey jar I usually do it long before midnight but I know in some traditions a "day" is the time from sun up to sun up so when I'm doing work at night and it crosses over to midnight is that really the next day or not? I know this is a simple newbie question but I've been wondering in Hoodoo how the days are counted.

I was taught that the day consists of sunrise til sunrise considering the first hour of the day is after the day of the week it is anyways. So based on that technically even if its after midnight, it is still okay to do something for that day. So lets say the previous day was Friday, but it turns midnight it is still Friday until the sunrises the next day, which would be saturday. I know techincally at midnight it would be Saturday, but I was taught from sunrise to sunrise based on the planetary hours.

*shrug* I'll go by astrology, time of day, day of week, or sometimes when I feel the extreme need to. I don't believe timing ever hinders, but it can help, you know? I know that in pst time the planets that made Friday (well, its still today for me for half an hour) epic for love don't move out of their positions till about 4pm tomorrow. I've done uncrossing baths in the middle of the day because I just felt like it absolutely had to be done NOW. Every so often I'll get my guides telling me to do a spell or work on a spell at the most seemingly random point in time. A lot of people work exclusively after dark. Currently I'm doing money and healing work first thing in the morning, even before breakfast, and dominating love work at twilight as I was taught that at twilight people are easier to manipulate.

Hey Shadowy Embrace, you can do the spell until tomorrow afternoon. Don't you worry. If you feel lost, ask Orpheus to help you. Love and Light.

Ellis19, I had a humbling thought this morning (daylight now)... I just noticed when I gave Kudos, that it might have come across as if I were impuning your work, not the case I assure you. I was glad Stars dropped in--that's it. I also should make it a point to stay off the board after 1:00AM because I babble when I am tired.

I tried to stress two things to SE last night (early this am) 1. don't over think it and 2. careful with the fire because I knew those candles were going to be burning for a bit, in case she was going back to sleep.

And to add you probably missed a day as you would call it, because you are spiritually drained. This lack of focus is the exact reason (along with others) why you need to take a break.

Nah, I agree, Stars is a 'wise one.' I know what I'm doing in regards to the New Age-y Neo Pagan systems, but I'm still new to hoodoo so I'm more useful off the boards than on them ;) . I do prefer the hoodoo system though, which is why I'm here and not throwing glitter...anymore lol.

Re: astrology in hoodoo

Hoodoo practitioners certainly do work in accord with natural signs and that includes astrological / astronomical phenomena. I myself teach a bi-annual workshop on astrology for rootworkers.

The Moon signs, the Moon's appearance of of waxing and waning, and so forth are strong in hoodoo, and zodiacal and sun-sign candles and oils have been available through conjure shops since the 1920s, and astrological charts have been cast by hoodoo practitioners since the 19th or early 20th century, as can be documented through seeing their advertisements.

However, specific turns of phrase such as "an herb of Jupiter" that describe the ascription of herbs to planets are not found in old-school hoodoo. These ideas come from the Western Esoteric Tradition.

Many African American conjure doctors, including Edward Lowe in Chicago in the 1920s practiced "working with the power of the stars" -- but "working with the power of the stars" is not the same as maintaining long lists of herbal ascriptions to planets. For instance, we often select special days to start a working based on the planetary ruler of that day -- but so did the ancient Africans. That is not the same as adopting the entire regimen of ascriptions utilized in European grimoires.

Could an old-time Black conjure doctor have learned about and wisely employed the Western Esoteric Tradition? Of COURSE -- just the same as an old-time White astrologer could have learned about and wisely employed the African American Conjure Tradition. This is called socio-cultural blending.

Socio-cultural blending of this type is as old as global transportation, which goes back to pre-history!

But in this case, socio-cultural blending has not proceeded to the point that astrological planetary ascriptions of herbs, according to systems of symbology that derive from old European grimoires, are part of the general magical practices of African American culture.

Yes, the grimoires and planetary plant lists derived from primary European sources and secondary Euro-American writers (Agrippa, Gerard, Culpepper, Crowley, Grieve, Cunningham, etc.) are available in book stores to any hoodoo doctor who wants to purchase one.

Yes, many root doctors have read and applied the principles set forth in these grimoires. But that's an individual choice, always, and no one root doctor speaks for the whole lot of us.

And truly, most workers in the hoodoo tradition -- family practitioners and professional spiritual doctors alike -- do not select herbs for use based on astrological ascriptions derived from European sources. We have our own ways of working, and we pass these along by oral tradition, and not by making students consult book-lists of herbal ascriptions to planets.

I have written a page on the use of planetary influences here:

http://luckymojo.com/planetary.html

Planetary timing is just one of several methods of timing for spell-work that are found in hoodoo.

I have read the books that you have mationed, and I found out that the hoodoo in America did adopt some western occult knowledge. {For example the "the sixth and seventh book of Moses" uses astrological sigils and the angel names are in correspondence with the planets, as does the "Seals of Solomon".)

I understand that when it comes to herbs, practitioners of hoodoo rely on 'word to mouth' knowledge. but I think hoodoo was always evolving since it came to America.

If there is condition oils (which are herb based) for sun and other astrological plants, why cant we also add some astrological information for the herbs themselves on top of the folk knowledge?

Time of day, day of the week and all that stuff is optional when doing any kind of spell work. Some people prefer to do work in accordance with astrology, etc., but it's not a steadfast rule or even a requirement. In hoodoo, you do the work when you need to do it.
