I just wanted to chime in on your first question. Miss Cat's answer was perfect but in case you needed any convincing I've a short story for you.
Years ago I was working on a skull candle for a client. I folded my petition paper (parchment paper mind you) ever so tightly and loaded it into the bottom CENTER of the skull candle.
It was also on a glass plate. Well, I came home to find my place all smokey, my smoke alarm was screaming for dear life...the candle had melted pretty much completely and my petition paper, which was dressed with a few herbs and oils, was on fire. I froze momentarily not knowing what to do and as I began to walk towards it try and extinguish it, KaBLAM! The fire had exploded the plate and scared the beJEEZES out of me. I thought I was a goner that night, lol.
I can laugh at it now but fires are nothing to play with. Seeing how it was a skull candle, it may have been okay to load it in another region of the candle like the chin or the back of the head but definitely not anywhere near the wick.
Learn from my mistake, chère

Thanks for your response!!
I would’ve freaked out as well if that had happened to me. I will definitely NOT do that again lol.
May I ask how the results of your spell went (out of curiosity)?

Not a problem!
And sure you can ask. That's what I'm here for.
So believe it or not, the spell was WONDERFULLY successful LOL.
The thing is, this was a client who's husband kept leaving her for his ex-wife and bouncing back between the two.
She was determined to save her marriage so I had been working on him for a long time using several methods and "cocktail treatments".
I had been burning that particular candle in sections for 7 days straight...speaking to the target every night at the same time like clockwork, instructing him to return home to his wife before allowing it to burn out on the seventh day. At the same time, I had a break-up jar and a lemon "Sour Pussy" Freezer Spell working on the ex-wife as well so all of this contributed to its success.

Oh wow! That’s awesome. It really sounds like you knew exactly what to do on that situation. She must’ve been so happy to get her lover back!
May I ask you how I can do a really good reconciliation spell on my ex? I already did one but it was a one day candle spell kind of thing.
I’m thinking of perhaps doing it again with a 7 day encased glassed candle.
Would it be a good idea to do it again and allow it to burn for a week?
I did the reconciliation spell first and then did a love drawing spell.

VenusRising777,
What you did is really good work. Even if it was only one day, that can prove very effective. After casting, I would look for signs and movement to gauge the success of the working. Reconciliation work, in my experience, tends to take time though so you must be patient.
I do love working with 7 day candles so I think it's a great idea. What I find most useful in reconciliation spells though are moving candle spells and rituals.
In case you're not familiar, in the case of reconciliation, these are spells where you have two candles to represent both parties (and sometimes a third if we want to move an intruder away from another party...AND even sometimes a 4th to draw the intruder closer to a NEW person) that are moved closer together day by day, inch by inch while reciting specific passages of scripture..usuallly from the book of Psalms or the Song of Solomon, the latter being my preference for these.
There's a lot of energy, respect, and discipline that goes into performing moving candle spells.
I'd also back up the work by doing a sweeneting spell such as a honey jar upon which I'd burn a pink candle on top of every Mon Wed and Friday.
You should really invest in Deacon Millett's "Hoodoo Return and Reconciliation Spells" it's a lucky mojo brand book therefore available right here. It's jam packed with a wealth of information on the matter. I love it.

Thank you soooo much for all the info!
Are the candles that you are referring to figural?
Also, would I need a new pink candle for each day I do the sweetening work? Or can I just use the same candle?
What I’ve noticed about him is that he isn’t particularly mean or anything if I contact him about something. Even when I was telling him about my new job and how well it was going... he seemed genuinely happy for me through text. So he isn’t being terribly cold or showing anger.... he’s just answering things in a pretty normal way.
(This was his behavior before doing any of the spells though)
Not sure how he would behave now that I did the spells...but I’m really not thinking of contacting him any time soon... unless it’s just to exchange things.

VenusRising777 ,
He mentioned both 7 day candles and figure candles.
I would use a new 4 inch chime candle for each day. Carve your petition around it from top to bottom, dress it with the oils, put it on the jar and pray over it while also reading the psalms I mentioned in your other post.
It is important to keep contact open, many people come to reconciliation work when its dead and gone. however this does not mean blow up their phone lol, you sound judgement

Yes. I'm talking about figural candles for the moving candle spell. You could use one central vigil light to serve as the purpose candle and move the lights toward that one if you like.
As JayDee has mentioned, the chime lights is the best way to go for the honey jar. Occasionally i will use the 6in ones though.
Also, i completely agree with him on thw ipen line of communication. It can be something as simple as making sure you're clear on the location you will meet. Find a way to keep communication open without harassment lol

Thanks!
Also, does it count if day I burn the candle at midnight on a Friday? I’m thinking of starting the spells tonight at midnight. This will ensure that I can burn the candles/repeat the chant at the same time every night (I get off work at 11 and don’t get home until 12). Can I also back up the reconciliation and sweetening work with a love drawing spell?

Also, since I’m burning them every mon, wed, and fri... when do I actually stop the work? After a week or two?
Re: Candles: Trim, Carve, Load, Petition, Pray, Dress, Light
VenusRising777,
You can burn the candles on it as long as you like. A honey jar is a mix of two spells, a honey jar, which is a container spell, and a candle spell on top of it. They work great together and often are used together. I would work it till you get the results you want. Some people burn a candle for a while, a few times a week, then move to once a week, then once a month. Option is yours.

I have what may sound like a dumb question because I'm new. I ordered a glass-encased candle, do I burn it 24/7?

That is up to you and depends on how safe the candle will be if you are not around to attend to it. For instance, folks with a fireplace often light the candle in the fireplace, so it is vented and the smoke goes up the chimney. But if you expect to light it and put it out repeatedly, you will need long fireplace matches or some other means of conveying the fire down inside as the wax gets low.

I have ordered both an intranquility candle and oil, can I use them together? If not can I send the candle back and pay to have it burned there at your store?

Our candles come already dressed, so you can use the oil some other way -- go to the section of the forum on oils for tips -- but i recommend you not try to send the candle back; it's just too fussy and complicated. we can burn another one for you, if you like -- and there is a section of the forum about that topic as well.

Re: Candles: Trim, Carve, Load, Petition, Pray, Dress, Light
Hi all!
I apologise if this has been asked before but I have a question about dressing candles and colours.
Basically I want to work with the waning moon which I have never done before, so ideally banishing things away. My question. Is how to structure candle burnings to harmonise with this?
For example:
To bring in money/remove blocks, would you use an uncrossing oil on a green candle?
Or burn a banishing candle for the debt and burn an attraction candle as you normally would with it?
Or for love would you do like a love uncrossing on a pink candle with an uncrossing or clearing/healing oil solo and and then do something to draw love in come the new moon?
I guess it’s best not to ‘cross the wires’ but i am just asking as I am trying to be more creative with my workings as I learn and not just sit twiddling my thumbs for the new moon each time I want to bring something in. I know moon phase working aren’t strictly hoodoo, but I figure if I can maximise my efforts by working with the flow as much as I can then It can’t hurt.
Thank you for your help and all input is appreciated

Re: Candles: Trim, Carve, Load, Petition, Pray, Dress, Light
Hey there, Tphillips16
That's a very good question and I like that you're trying to be creative with your workings. I think I have an answer you may find satisfactory.
If you are wanting to work with the waning moon for love, per se, you could burn candles to banish bad habits that you may be self-aware of. For example, attitudinal problems, stubbornness, resentment, abandonment, temperament issues and even unresolved relationships or people in your life that might impede your new lover from entering into your life or cause problems in a new relationship. Anything that would be of detriment to a blossoming love affair you could work to rid yourself of. Clear the path of obstacles and debris so that the one you draw to you will have a clear road to you.
If you are working on money situations, you could burn to banish bad spending habits such as impulse buying and excessive spending. You would want to banish any foreseeable challenges that could stand in the way of you and your desires.
One method would be to inscribe a black candle with the name of what you want to do away with written from top to bottom. You can dress it with banishing oils like Banishing, D.U.M.E., Hot Foot, etc in the same manner or you can use the the more common method of dressing them according to their polarity, taking special care to anoint the two ends of the candle pointed AWAY from you.
Another method is similar but instead of using a black candle you could get a candle of a colour that represents that which you want to banish. So for instance, impulse spending or splurging has to do with passions. Passions are represented by the colour red. So you can get a red candle and write from top to bottom what those passions are that you have little to no control over, dress in the same manner as you would the black, and burn.
I hope this helps.

Question about figural candles and lottery tickets/petitions:
If I'm doing a green devil candle burning, am I rubbing the oil up toward the wick or down toward the ticket? It seems like normally it would be upward for attraction and downward for banishment but I'm not sure what the attraction element is in this case. I'm using Good Luck Oil, Lady Luck Oil and Lucky 13 Oil.

A green devil candle can be dressed by pouring the oil over its head and onto the body or dress it from the bottom to top to draw to you. Then I would place it on the petition paper, tickets or gambling item.

Hi all
I have a question regarding dressing candles. I'd like to work a candle spell to supplement my honey jar, but my oils and powders aren't here yet (LM's current turn around is 3 wks + intl. shipping, patience, patience). I know that you can't replace condition oils, but I have herbs and was wondering if I could use them without the oils at this point? Perhaps by dressing the candle with olive oil and rolling it in crushed herbs?

You can roll a candle in crushed herbs, even melt wax and roll it in herbs as a method of preparing it, then add olive oil that was prayed over Psalms 23 into the oil. In general its called double dressing candles: take a candle dress it with oil then roll it in powder, then triple dress it to roll in wax and herbs, fun to make but can be a messy project.

Hi JayDee
Thank you for your advice! Sorry I'm a bit dense.. but what did you mean by melt wax and roll it in herbs? Like melting another candle and letting the wax pool so I can add herbs then envelope this wax sheet around the offertory candle?

pollen,
Well yes, you can do it that way, or melt wax in a pan and then roll it in wax roll it in the herb or powder. I sometimes use throw away pan to do that makes clean up easy. You can buy wax or melt a candle to do it, or use left over wax from other candles.

Re: Candles: Trim, Carve, Load, Petition, Pray, Dress, Light
My black back to back divorce candle has a heart shaped base but no candle in the middle( like what is sold on luckymojo), so I can't go by the instructions here. Do I still break the candles apart right before it goes out or anytime in the middle of the candles burning? The space in the middle of the candles is too small for me to write on their backs so I write the names on their side, right? Then his (my lover) name on the opposite side of the other candle? Thank you

Hello, Musclequeen378.
I hope you are in good spirits. You can use the same instructions, but tailor it to your situation. One of the great parts of hoodoo is that you can fit any ritual to meet your needs. Go with your intuition. Good luck!

Why would you want to fit in, when you were BORN TO STAND OUT?

So do I break them apart at the heart base before I light it up?

Hello musclequeen378,
No, if this is the candle I believe it is, it will have a wick on top of the heads of both people. Light those, don't break the candle apart.
Write alongside the sides of the people in the candle. You have that part right.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Yes Ms. Athena. this is the one with a wick on top of both black figures, on a heart base. Thanks for the clarification!

Thanks Miss Athena! I'm done with the spell, and I forgot where I found the disposal info, but I read somewhere to dispose of break up spells at abandoned railroad tracks? Is there any truth to this? Thank you

Hello musclequeen378,
You can deploy it by burying it where your target will walk over it. Alternatively, deploy it in running water.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

sorry let me clarify the situation: This is a separation spell to get the target who is my ex (but we're still romantically linked) to stay away from other females. Also, he currently lives 2000 miles away, so I can't put it where he walks unfortunately.

Hello musclequeen378,,
In that case, deploy it in running water to send away their relationship.
Good luck.

Can I buy a whole bunch of white tea light candles and dress them with block buster oil to make mini block buster candles?

Yes, you can!
My favourite way to dress tea lights is to
1) Pop the candle wax out of the cup, write my petition directly in the inside of the cup, rub the inside of the cup with oil.
2) Take the wick out of the wax, dip it in the oil, then insert the wick back in the wax and the wax back in the cup.
3) Finish by drawing or writing on the surface of the wax with a needle and running oil into that as well.
That is a TRIPLE-DRESSED candle!

Miss Cat
Thank you for the information, sounds like a very powerfully dressed tea light, even if it is very small.

Hello nino_x3,
You baptize it in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and give it the name of your target. Carve their name and birthdate on the back neck of the candle.
You do not need to use water or sage to do it but can use these items if desired. Go back and read through this thread starting from the beginning and you will see that this question has already been asked and answered several times.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Re: Candles: Trim, Carve, Load, Petition, Pray, Dress, Light
I wanted to stop to post about dressing my candles and my petition papers with both herbs and oils.
Back when i was a kid my grandmother wold teach me about what sertain herbs do as far as cooking goes or how to use a simple mineral like Salt, i fear without her teachings i would have jinxed myself along time ago. Ive learned that you can dressing anything that you use no matter if you are conjuring something or simply using it in a tea or food. I've seen the difference in my workings when and if i don't use them at all. They seem to be diluted in power.
Since I've ordered Candle magic in hoodoo i have been able to watch and observe how the flame reacts to the oil or powder. Now, with that being said i say this, when i dress my candles with herbs are they supposed to be in a grounded down form or so i leave them whole when i roll my candle into the herbs?
I will say that so far im learning alot about what you can do with different herbs dried or fresh.
Thank you for your book Hoodoo Herb and Root magic

Cinammon12,
Welcome to the forum. I moved your post to this thread on working with candles. I have to ask that you do not create new topics. Instead, please use the search bar to find the correct thread on your subject of interest. If you still have questions after you read it through, use the Quick Reply at the bottom of the page. We will be glad to help.
Herbs should be ground down or else may become a fire hazard. If you have a fat candle it is less of a worry but if the herbs will be close to the wick like on a taper candle, you may see them start to burn as well. The end result is a huge flaming mess.
One way to work is to melt extra wax on some foil using the oven. Sprinkle in herbs and powders before it hardens and roll the regular candle in it to form an extra layer around it. Please read this thread for more ideas on working with candles.
Good Luck!
