Can the same petition paper be used again for the same spell?

My vigil candle has burnt out so I would like to light another one this week for the same purpose. Can I use the same petition or would I need to write out a fresh one?

Vibe77,

There are little ways to do a petition "wrong" per se however you haven't given much information about your spell to go off of.

- How exactly did you write the name?

- Which direction did you then the paper?

-What exactly is the purpose of the jar? ( I know you want this person to love you but is this a jar for the two of you to become closer are only for this person to love you more?)

All of these things will determine how you will write out your petition.

If you are attempting to sweeten your target to you then only their name will do. If you wish to draw the two of you closer together or really turn up the romance (or create it) between the two of you, you may use both your names.

You want to turn petitions of these sorts to the right to draw r attract something to you.

Also, did you place herbs in the actual jar? Any herbs used you generally want even to be inside of the petition paper in case you want to use the honey to feed to your target at some point.

All of this information and more is available in Miss Cat's classic "Paper In My Shoe". You can order right here in the Forum by clicking on the blue Add To Cart button.

The honey jar is to bring an old lover back to me, we are in contact with each other at the moment but living apart from each other. So I thought this jar will help sweeten him to me.

I wrote his name 7 times, each line below the last. turned the paper clockwise. Then crossed the names with my command of 'love me' 7 times. Anointed the paper with love oil, put love herbs in the jar, stirred it.

I will be working on a baby doll soon but thought the honey jar will help till I get the doll sorted.

Thank you

Vibe77,

Your petition seems pretty good to me but personally, I would remake the jar.

Again, in Hoodoo we generally don't put herbs loose in the jar. They are put inside the petition paper which you would fold in the form of a packet to ensure that the herbs don't get loose. Folding and wrapping is part of the tradition. This is also in the book I posted above. Lastly, we definitely do not stir them, unless the herbs are edible and we intend to cook with the sweetener.

You can work it for a while and see if it has any positive affects or if things turn in your favor if you wish but again, this is the thread for petitions and you seem to have a good handle on that.

Check out the following threads on honey jars and return and reconciliation spells.

Thanks for your input. I'm a bit worried now.

I will try to work it for a bit, how long would you say I would work it to see if things are happening. Thank you

I have a question. I am doing a blockbuster candle for a job.

I want to know when you write a petition for a blockbuster should you be a little precise or general?

Example 1) Remove blocks and resistance that prevents me from securing a stable job with an annual salary of more than xx, flexible, with good progression opportunities and gives me good work life balance.

Example 2) Remove blocks and resistance that prevents me from securing a stable job.

Pegasus,

Either petition works, but the second one can bring any stable job, which may not meet the requirements you need to take a job. Depending on money needs you may do a job a to get a good stable job, then while working use the time to get the more specific job you seek. ME for an example to leave my job I have to make X more money and would have to be similar job or upgrade, so I would include those in my petition, otherwise I am wasting time going on interviews for jobs that dont meet those minimal requirements. Consider using steady work products in conjunction, along with crown of success and money drawing products in job seeking work.

Hi everyone!

I would like to order an attraction candle from the church, but it's to attract readers, reviews and money for my novels and also clients for my freelance writing gigs. How would I word that petition? Should I do separate ones? One specifically for my author pen name and the other for freelancing gigs under my own name? Thank you!

Hi CuriouslilThing,

I've moved your query here to its more appropriate forum and topic discussion.

You can consolidate this into one petition paper. I use this method all the time as I have a couple of professional aliases.
"May I receive business/money/recognition/etc from all lines of business/sources of income" or "I draw to myself a steady stream of income, customers, etc for (such and such business) and (first name, last name of alias). You can just use your legal name as well as that is who you were born and regardless of which professional alias or business name you use, the money will end up in or benefit you (The legal name, you) lol

Hope this helps

Hi,

I am not sure if this is the appropriate thread for this type of question. I couldn't find any particular thread dedicated to petitions in particular so this is the most relevant thread I can find. My apologies.

Anyway, I have a question regarding the use of wordings in stating a petition. Ok, so it has been stated within magick circles that when one casts a spell it is best to use phrases such as “I will” and “It is my will to” or “I have” instead of phrases such as “I want” or "I wish".

The logic behind this is that when you state that you will do something or you will have something, then that is telling the universe that such desire is already in the process of manifesting. But when you state that you want something then you are just going to continue to want it and it will never happen. However, my experience has been a bit different......

When I casted my first spell just a few months ago I used phrases such as “I want” and “I desire”. I had done some online research at least a month prior to casting my first spell and I learned quite a bit, but apparently not enough because at the time I didn’t know that it was not recommended to use such phrases in spellcasting, for the reasons stated above.

HOWEVER

The spell began to work fast and after about 2 weeks after watching the movement the spell was close to manifesting, but it was almost working too well! I began to see that I put too much power into it so I actually had to stop it before it did any harm (Whew! They say be careful with love spells!).

So from my experience I found that using “I want” and “I desire” worked just as good. To me, when you’re stating your petition and you say “I want this to happen so bad. It is my desire to have this”, that seems to put more drive and energy into the spell because it comes more from the heart. Especially when you combine the phrases and use it as "I want this to happen and it WILL".

Conversely, when I finally got into the habit of writing my petitions using the phrases “I have” as if it is in the present, I noticed that I didn’t get any results. In my experiences, doing it that way seemed to take away that primal desire and passion. After all, I read somewhere that magick is all about having a strong need and desire in order for something to manifest in the physical.

Again, this is just in my experience. Maybe for some reason I am just backwards. I dunno. Maybe both methods work but it just depends on how much emotional drive you put behind the intention and the mundane effort you put along with it.

Overall, what are your thoughts on this? What are your experiences? I’d say just do whatever works but I still would like your input.

Thank you.

Hi jdsmooth85,

I have moved your post to the thread discussing petition papers. You can read through these posts to see how others have handled petitions, and the advice of forum moderators and administrators.

I'm glad you are getting good results with your method of wording petitions. If it works for you, then there's no reason to question or change it.

As you pointed out, it's generally advisable to state petitions in the affirmative, as opposed to using language like "I wish" or "I want" as one can be left wishing and wanting for a lifetime.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with the forum.

jdsmooth85 ,

You should pick up the Lucky Mojo book on Bible Magic, it discusses the different types of prayers which also relate to petitions. Sometimes it makes sense to say " Lord if it be your will", other times " If my prayer is justified", other times "Lord thank you for blessing me with". In the Bible Jesus instructs us to pray as though we have it and our prayer was answered Mark 11:24: Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. I would also agree that if it is working for you then keep working it.

Miss Athena – Thanks for moving my post to the appropriate thread. For some reason I wasn’t able to directly find it on the board index. I will definitely go through it to gather info from other users’ experiences.

Jay Dee – Thanks for recommending the book. I went to the product page and it instantly reminded me of a book my father owned many years ago called ‘Powers of the Psalms’ by Anna Riva. That was also a good book too. My father said it was powerful stuff, so I’d definitely like to check out the book published by Lucky Mojo too.

All I can say is that I will continue to do whatever works in regards to petitioning. Whatever feels right in the moment, whether the words I want" or "I desire" is what the heart feels, is the energy I will use. I still think those words, said with passion along with the muscle of intention is still stronger than simply "wishing" though.

Hello,

I recently purchased the 4 oz. rootworker's special oil combination of domination, essence of bend over, kiss me now, and follow me boy.

However I’ve really struggled with my petition. I feel like I need to have multiple intentions down and it’s coming out jumbled. Like I want to dominate him and make him do what I want like actually answering me when I text, doing what I want him to do, and then the sexual component.

Are there any suggestions on how exactly to do a command or petition with this combination of oils? I think where I am getting stuck is that I have a petition for each oil individually and if they were separate I would just do 4 separate petition spells. Im sorry if this is the wrong thread for this.

Hello Drabind,

What exactly do you want him to do? Obey your commands and be passionate only to you? There's your petition.

You don't need to go into great detail, such as "answer my texts" or other specifics when you are already petitioning for his obedience. The details would already be covered.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hello everybody, hope this message finds you well.
I was advised to work with Queen Elizabeth root to increase my personal power. I will be performing a simple candle spell, however I am struggling with the petition. What I am trying to achieve is to be more powerful, charismatic and just overall impossible to say no to, being treated like a Goddess on a pedestal if you will, and ultimately have the upper hand in my romantic relationship and successfully get what I want from my man.
So here is my confusion: should I keep the petition strictly general about me (as in "May i be irresistible etc"), or include my main target in it (as in "may i always have the upper hand with X, etc.").
And how can I successfully word it?
I apologise if I'm not clear, this is my first time doing something of this nature. Thanks in advance to whoever would like to help! :)

whatsthep0intanyway ,

I would word the petition based on how and what exactly you want to happen. If you are specifically working to increase personal power in the relationship then included the partner. If this is being done in general to increase personal power than I would state it that way. " With Gods blessing may my personal power and magnetism increase, may I be more charismatic to the people i meet and know, and be treated like a queen by the men in my life amen". Or " By the grace of God may John Doe see me as the queen of his universe, who he showers with love, affection, attention, John Doe finds me charismatic, charming and beautiful, now and forever amen".

Hi everyone, I'm struggling really bad with my Petition on wanting to get two people to see how unhappy they are in their marriage and that they shouldn't stay married just because of their kids. It's a marriage that has had a lot of problems, manipulation and cheating involved but then because of the kids, they are unhappily together and can't seem to have the strength to part ways because of their kids. Can anyone help me with a petition to get both of them to see that they shouldn't stay in a loveless and miserable marriage just because of the kids? It's actually causing a lot of issues for their kids instead of bringing them happiness.

Hello Literary Grasp,

I have moved your post to the thread on petition papers, so you can read through the posts here for more advice.

Just keep it simple. You want them to recognize that their marriage is loveless and miserable and bad for everyone involved. That's what you want them to recognize, so that is what you should say.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

So if I have a word document on a computer from someone I know and I know that this person had personally typed this word document, can I use this word document as a link to the person? Usually I try to get a paper with things written by my targets, but I just had the idea that word documents typed by a particular person with their names on it is a great link too. I can work it like a normal petition paper.

What do you guys think?

Hello mastersirius678,

The point of personal concerns is that they are personal to that individual and likely carry a bit of their DNA through touch (like something they have handled) or bodily attachment (like a hair or fingernail), etc.

If they simply typed a document and it sits on your computer, it's not a personal concern. It's only an electronic connection to them, a very weak link altogether.

Stick with handwriting or personal items for your strongest link to them.

Good luck.

Hello. I enjoyed reading this forum. Also learning new ideas to writing petition. But my question is: how do you write one for “getting a job in administration assistant, office assistant, customer service”? Also how do I say it on the petition?
Please advise. Thanks. :)

Also do you think I should purchase the Paper in My Shoe book or not?

Hello loststar67,

It is up to you if you want to state a desired salary in your petition. You could just petition for the job you want that pays you what you need and provides you joy, or whatever words reflect your desired new position.

Paper in My Shoe is a wonderful book and can teach you the various approaches to crafting petitions. It is well worth the small investment of $9.

loststar67,

If you are learning how to write a petition and name papers than this book is essential to you. A great book to go with it is the hoodoo bible book by Lucky Mojo as well, it teaches the use of scripture in the Bible and also the different types of prayers that are used in Churches and hoodoo. It is not uncommon to use Scripture language in a petition, or to tie the work to scripture. Miss Athena answered how to write the petition. A petition is what you desire and how you ask for it, more specific can sometimes be helpful other times get in the way. I do believe that you need a standard to pay and live comfortable then I would use that amount. If you just want a job and know the standard pay and are more focused on the work environment, healthcare etc than focus on that. The petition will vary based on the individuals needs. Hope that helps.

Hello everyone, I need assistance in writing a petition.

The work I plan on doing involves burying the "enemies" ideas and plots and plans to harm me in any way. This is one of several works i am doing - as miss cat always says, you do work until you get satisfaction -when it comes to protection and enemy work.

My conflict is that I don't want to use my name or business name in the petition because I feel uneasy "burying" my information in the box I am about to put this evil one   . For example how can I say: I want to bury your ideas to harm me in anyway shape or form".

I would appreciate any input. I know miss cat always composes the most amazing petitions with such ease and grace, so any help from miss cat or others would be most helpful.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,, Juventas,

I understand your interest in avoiding naming yourself in a box spell to bind and bury an enemy.

As a side-note, there is a Jewish tradition of "divorcing" the enemy by name in a written petition inscribed into a shallow clay bowl, and then breaking the bowl. The point of contrasting this tradition with the work you are doing is that the bowl spell is broken, to release the connection with the enemy, and you are boxing up the enemy in what is essentially a coffin, and you surely do not want your name in that.

Okay, so with that understood, here is a sample of the language i might use to bury an enemy's name.

The prayer:

Lord, i come to you today, humble in heart and with head bowed low, and ask for your aid in my time of need. My enemy, [Name], has caused me trouble in many ways (list them) and is known unto you. Lord, [Name] is intent on my destruction, and thus i implore you, for the safety of my life and my soul, to look with favour on the work i am about to do. If i have erred, Lord, forgive me, and show me another way to regain the happiness that [Name] has denied me. But, Lord, if my case is justified, hear my plea and strike with your mighty hand the enemy [Name] until [he or she] is seen no more upon this Earth. Amen.

The petition paper:

May the evil-hearted, evil-minded, and evil-bodied [Name], enemy and foe of all that is just and true in this world, who is well known to God as a [specify crime, such as thief, abuser, gossip, liar] and oppressor of my soul, be herewith bound, tied, captured, and confined to a prison of [his or her] own making, and may this punishment continue without let, every day of [his or her] life, even unto death, if [he or she] does not sincerely repent and make amends to me and to all of the others whom [he or she] has caused to suffer. May God's punishment be swift and sure. May [Name] be removed from my life, and God willing, from the lives of all on Earth. Amen.

I hope that helps. If it seems too "strong" for you, modify it by removing the references to death and the references to all of the other people.

Good luck.

Hello Miss Cat,

Thank you so much for your time, and immense assistance with this petition. Your time is always appreciated.
As always your writing is eloquent and luminous.
This prayer and petition is perfect and just what I needed. And as you so wisely surmised I will make a slight change to the "death" references.
Thank you again.
Blessings always.

Hi all

I would like to know in general when writing petitions, should you do it with an end goal in mind or the nearest possible advancement? For example if employed in a corporate structure, would you petition for the next level up or the top hierarchy (desired) from the get-go?

I know for love spells, if broken up you'd want to first work on reconciliation before even thinking of marriage. So I suppose it's the same step-by-step process, but I wanted to be sure and not assume :)

Asteria ,

It depends on the working to me, for career advancement I may do a jar specific to the next job I want, that will help me move up, but I would have a mojo made for success in my career to reach the top of my field. In love work I may do an attraction to draw suitable lovers, then when I meet someone a specific spell to make them commit to love with me. My workings I may do a spell to stop spending money, to save money and to bring in money, but also a money alter to draw in wealth.

Thank you for your insights JayDee. So in my honey jar for career, I intend to place a print-out of the uniform (which are all different according to hierarchy: asst. manager → manager → director) and write the petition behind it, crossing with my name. Then when I achieve that, I'll remove and replace it with the next advancement uniform print-out in the same manner. Does it sound right?

Is it necessary to have to "activate" or physically write down petitions with your target's name in cases like breakup spells when you're using candles?

I've worked with a reader who told me that prayers inside your head or just to yourself "don't mean shit," lol and so ever since I've made sure to speak aloud my intentions.

In the past, I used a candle in order to break up a volatile couple in my family, used some physical ingredients like peppers, mustard seed, etc. in a bowl but it ended up that they ended up going out of town and I got laryngitis! This was a spell where I totally just lit the candle, sprinkled my ingredients and basically left it alone without physically stating or writing a petition.

Can spells like this have a "bleed out" effect if you only pray in your head?

I'll always wonder- what was the real result of that because they didn't actually break up, but from what I hear it was volatile between them- but it seems I was also affected negatively.

Thanks!!!

Hello Serena_17,

I have moved your post because you were posting in the thread on Black Arts sachet powder and your questions do not pertain to that subject. Please be mindful of where you post on the forum, as this creates extra work for our moderators.

I've moved your post to the topic on petitions, and you should read through the posts here to learn the correct way to write and state petitions.

You would also be well-served in reading Miss cat's wonderful book on petitions, Paper In My Shoe:

I can't speak for the reader you contacted but it sounds like this was not a qualified reader from the Association of Readers and Rootworkers (AIRR). Prayers in your head are meaningful in their own right, so do not discount their energy.

Writing petitions for any kind of spell work such as candles and break up jars is an important part of the work, so do learn how and when they are to be used.

The break up spell you described sounds incomplete and incompatible with traditional hoodoo practice. For properly constructing a break up spell, please read the following thread:
general-break-up-separation-hot-foot-qu ... 23938.html

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Serena_17 --

Magical spell-casting is not a monolithic "system" that has "right and wrong" ways to work. It is more like a series of culturally identifiable art forms, with preferred techniques and methods that arise from culturally specific beliefs. In this Forum we deal primarily with African-American rootwork, which is an American form of folk magic that has its roots in African magic, but has also incorporated elements from European, Native American, Middle Eastern, and even Asian forms of magic -- and has done so on a regional basis. For example, where there were Asian (primarily Chinese) immigrants in urban America, Chinese elements were added to African American practices, but in rural areas with no "Chinatown," there was no cultural exchange around those ways of working. Likewise, The Native American additions to hoodoo grew up primarily in the South East, and there is not much of an admixture of Native American customs from west of the Rockies.

Once you understand this, then the whole picture of what folk magic is becomes clearer to you, and you will also come to appreciate the unity and diversity of African American conjure. It is a cultural style of magic, not a "system."

The worker who told you that prayers in your head are not effective was expressing a distinct opinion, but it is by no means a universal opinion. Some will recommend petition papers, but others do not, and, of course, the art of written language, while ancient, does not extend back to prehistoric times (which is precisely why those times are called prehistoric).

Perhaps the best analogy i know is to think of magic as being an art like cookery or music. There are certain ingredients, certain melodic scale, likewise certain forms of cooking (that is, baking, roasting, frying, and so forth) and certain forms of instruments (such as trumpets, harmonicas, pianos, guitars, and banjos. The kind of music you produce is much like the kind of cookery you may choose to study or the kind of music you may wish to play, or to compose. Much of it will be based on your family traditions, if any, or your cultural traditions, and some of it will be learned, like studying music or cooking in an informal or formal setting.

There is more than one way to prepare a soup and more than one way to play the blues. Some are more traditional than others, and some just taste (or sound) better. We wim to teach you traditional methods and let you select your way of working based on your own tastes and inclinations. That does not mean that "anything goes," but it means that as you learn this work, you will come to realize more than just the "do" or "don't" rules that some teachers rely on. You will come to know the history, the historical variations, the regions, the regional variations, and the role that personal choice plays in the art of magic.

Good luck.

Petition Paper

Unread post by profcurtis » Sun Jul 28, 2019 3:28 pm

Hi all,

I am really new to this work and did a simple candle spell using a petition paper. After a lot more studying and reading, I am thinking I did not prepare my petition paper effectively and think I should redo the whole thing with a new petition paper. My question is what do I do with the old one (the one I think I kinda messed up). I don’t want to do anything to cancel out the work. Anyhow, sorry if this is a really dumb question. Like I said, I’m very new to this practice and would appreciate any advice from those of you who have much more experience than me. Thanks in advance.

Hello profcurtis,

Welcome to the Lucky Mojo forum. We're happy to have you here.

I have moved your post to the thread on petition papers, so please read through the posts here for advice that can help you.

If this were me and I wrote a petition incorrectly, I would burn it and start again.

Also, scroll up a few posts and you will see a link to Miss cat's wonderful book on writing petitions, "Paper in My Shoe". It is an excellent resource for how to construct petition papers of all kinds, so I recommend it for anyone getting started in hoodoo.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

I have read paper in my shoe but I still have questions about writing a petition.

1. Healing petition. Heal and release .... x 7 times. Do I cross my name over it or is the petition written over the name. I always get confused with this.

2. Blockbuster petition. Unblock money ... x 9 times. Do I turn to the left and write my name over the statement or is it written over the name?

3. Self love petition or one to develop courage - Do you write the petition over the name or does the name cross the petition?

4. Job petition - If you write about the job would you turn to the right and sign your name over the petition a few times?

Pegasus --

1) It has nothing to do with the objective of the work, healing or otherwise. If it is your command, your name goes over. If you are commanding work to be done unto another, your command goes over. Ask yourself, "Who has the last word here? That is the name to go over.

2. It has nothing to do with the objective of the work, block buster or otherwise. You can do it either way, your choice.

3. It has nothing to do with the objective of the work, self-love, courage, or otherwise. If it is your command, your name goes over. If you are commanding work to be done unto another, your command goes over. Ask yourself, "Who has the last word here? That is the name to go over.

4. It has nothing to do with the objective of the work, job-getting or otherwise. You can do it either way, your choice.
