General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Hiya Cheshanna
Ideally if you can wait for your order to come, then that will be better than setting up a temp jar!
However if your still persistent on making a temp jar, Then go ahead.
When i do my Honey jar which have always been a great success, i burn which ever color candle im using on the jar for seven days straight, after i have done that i then burn the correct color candle on the jar every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Hope that helps.

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
So I've been working my jar for over a month now, and definitely seeing some positive signs. As I stated before he is a difficult person and has completely turned cold but yesterday, exactly 6 weeks from when I started it, and after over a month of no communication, I contacted him and got a response. This was after our last conversation was screaming and arguing and he said he never wanted to speak to me again. It was simple conversation but went on in to today, so have to wait and see if that continues. I know it won't be immediate changer and I will continue working the jar, but since he's a hard person to work with I'm wondering if I should do something along with the jar? For an extra umphh. I will take any advice on this subject. Thank you!

I have a honey Jar for my spouse that I have not burned a candel on in several months, but he need some sweetin rgt now!
At this point not sure what to do with it. Candel wax is on the lid it would be hard to get a candle to sit on it safely.
Should I make a new one or empty this one & use what I already have & put in new jar, Burry it ?
I want it to keep working !!! Do honey jars stop working if you stop buring cadels on them?

If making a sugar jar i am assuming you still prepare the same way ?! But dou you at least burn a candle with oil during preparation of jar?by ConjureMan Ali » Fri Dec 17, 2010 5:49 pm
Candles aren't always burned on top of jar spells. You can make it in a sugar box with the herbs and petition added in, or you can use sugar and place it in a jar. You can pray over, shake it up, or bury it in your front yard or backyard.
OH! What is a honey photo please ???? & what exactly is done!

Just use a lighter to soften some of the wax on the lid so that you can put a new candle on top.
If you quit working your honey jar it won't "quit" working, but it will slow waaaaaaaay down, and may even sort of go dormant.
To warm that honey jar back up again, just work it daily for a week or two to get it cooking again, and then stay diligent about some kind of maintenance schedule, such as candles on M-W-F.

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Learning719: Most workers continue to work the honey or sugar jar for a long while, always burning the new candles on top of the old wax from each candle that has come before it. As Devi said, taking a flame to the bottom of the new candle will soften out the wax of the candle allowing it to be "glued" to the remaining wax on the lid.
If you are having trouble with that and simply can't get it to work you may try the small star candle holders that Lucky Mojo sells for the top of your jar:
http://www.luckymojo.com/mojocattools.html#holders
These little guys are great and will allow you to keep placing a new candle in the holder, while allowing the wax to still build up on your jar!

Hi LEARNING719,
the techniques for honey jars and sugar jars are discussed in many of the HITAP (Hoodoo in Theory and Practice) and Forum threads. Read through ALL of this information (yes it's a long read, I guarantee it's worth it) as it should answer your querries. Here are the links:

Hi.
I'm sorry but I can't work out how to add quotes to messages.
I've just read up to page 68 of this forum and found a post from Miss Cat, in response to someone who made a honey jar and ate some honey before adding the packet of personal conerns, herbs etc. In the post she says that the honey should be eaten after the packet has been pushed into the honey.
I made a started a honey jar just over a week ago, following the spell instructions, printed on pink paper, included with a recent order from LM, and ate some honey, as directed, before adding the packet - do I need to start a new honey jar as I seem to have done this the wrong way round?

No you do not need to start it again. If yours have not worked well after three months, then make a new one the way it was supposed to be in that instruction and see if it changes things.

Thank you starsinthesky. That is exactly what my rootworker said. She told me to leave the stones alone in the jar and just keep shaking it without any worry. I asked quickly on LM because it was hard to get in touch with my rootworker. Thanks again for your help.

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Hello All,
I'm wanting to start a few honey jar spells, but I can't afford to buy food at the moment
*However* I was given a big bag of sugared raisins at the food bank
Since sugar and molasses are part of the honey jar family, I assume sugared raisins could also be used in the same way? I'd need to modify the spell slightly as I cannot eat sugar, so I was thinking of topping off the sugared raisins with a few non-sugared raisins at the top of the jar to eat when I say "As these raisins are sweet to me so shall I be sweet to so-and-so".
Any thoughts?
Best Wishes,
Wild Rose

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
You could try it out and see how it works for you. In addition, you can use any kind of sweet syrup in a honey jar spell, so whatever you could get at a food bank would work in a honey jar: honey, molasses, Karo Syrup, or even pancake syrup.
Good luck

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Ammonia is a VERY strong energy stripper - meaning it strips away everything, the good with the bad. I would absolutely NOT use it in a honey jar spell.
For one thing, it's TOXIC, and in honey jar work you eat a bit of the honey as you craft it. Putting ammonia in it would poison the honey!
When ammonia is used for strong cleansing work, we have to be very careful to only use a tiny bit, and then replace the energy we strip away with something else. If you need to cleanse the person you're working the honey jar on for some reason, then do that work separately.

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Greetings all,
I am a beginner as far as practicing magick of any kind and even newer to the concept of hoodoo. I am planning a honey jar but after having read the entire honey jar section on the forum, am still not sure what the best course of action for my situation is.
My issue is not complicated. I have known a man for 12 years; we live in different countries but were incredible close for many years and had planned to meet, but unfortunately I have been ill for a long time and it was not feasible. In the last 5 years we kind of lost contact except for Facebook, but 2 months ago a tragedy in his life brought us together with the same intense connection that I truly believe we have not and will not, experience with anyone else. Unfortunately 6 weeks ago he just stopped talking to me again, there was no argument, no issue, no problem… nothing. He has a live in girlfriend and I am assuming something happened like she saw our conversations and as a fellow woman I can understand she would not like seeing some of the things he said to me. I do not wish to end their relationship or get him to love me romantically. All I want is to have our amazing connection and friendship on a frequent basis and to enjoy the support and affection we share.
This being said, I wanted to know the best oil for my situation to anoint the candle with. The spell recommends special oil #20 but I have not heard anyone else talking about that particular oil in the 85 pages of honey jar spells. Would olive oil suffice or should I order a particular conjure oil?
Thanks for your time and attention.

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Hi,
I'm guessing this is a variation of the 'honey jar' but felt wrong putting it there cos it isn't about the spell kit (which I actually ordered and waiting for it to arrive as it was missing at the shop).
I was told this spell by a friend, where you take a red apple, make a hole in it, put your name paper in the hole (I've used 3 LM oils on the name paper), pour honey on the apple, sprinkle cinnamon and then put a pink altar candle (LM one of course) on top and while it burns you say the 33rd psalm 5 times.. you stop the candle and do this again for the next 5 days then the person told me to put the remains of the candle (?!!) in pink cloth and bury it under a small tree.. I suppose it makes more sense he meant the apple and not the candle lol, any idea?

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
You can also bury the apple in a potted plant and gift the plant to your target. From what I understand, the roots of the plant will intertwine with the apple and absorb its energy and intent. Then as the plant grows and flourishes, so does the spell. It's typically a good idea to bury the apple in a plant that shares the same qualities of the spell, such as a mini-rose plant for love, etc...
Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
You can read it in Miss cat's "Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic" under the letter "A" for "Apple."
Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
lalyil...this seems like a variation of the Apple spell in cat's book, 'Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic' (http://www.luckymojo.com/hoodooherbmagic.html). I recommend that you purchase the book to get a clearer understanding of this spell and its purpose.

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Hi everyone. I've been working a honeyjar for almost two weeks to try and get my ex partner back with me. We've been talking and I've found out that his 14 year old daughter hates me, she thinks I told lies about her to her father. I would like to do a friendship honey jar for her but can't find anything about which herbs might be suitable. I've got balm of gilead buds, cloves, lavender, catnip, deers tongue, liquorice root and a few others - are any of these suitable - I've got mainly love herbs.
Hope someone will point me in the right direction.

Love herbs are fine - just put the petition for platonic love. Lavendar is good as it is for loving cooperation and harmonious relationships, balm of gilead is good for forgiveness and soothing emotional wounds, cloves are good for friendship, and throw some rose petals in there are they are the love herb par excellence. Vanilla would also be a good choice, as it helps bring sweetness.

Thank you so much Devi for your swift reply.
Could you mix vanilla extract, or a piece of vanilla pod, with olive oil to put on the peition paper and dress the candle - I don't have many LM oils yet as I'm fairly new to this.
Also which colour candle would better white or pink.
Thanks.

Thank you Dr Johannes, thats very helpful. From reading the posts I had assumed 'road opening' was more for when there was a specific obstacle and I thought 'return to me' was for lost love matters. I appreciate you clarifying it for me.Dr Johannes wrote:Special Oil No. 20 is a very good all purpose oil.

QUESTION ABOUT UPDATING A HONEY JAR
I started a honey jar in October to sweeten someone to me for love. I followed the directions from lucky mojo but didnt have access to any of his hairs at the time. Ive been faithfully working the jar (even if it had to travel with me) every monday, wednesday and friday. Usually on the days im working the jar those tend to be the days with the best talks and "sweetest" intentions which I directly attribute to the honey jar working. So the jar is working and Im quite pleased with the appearance of the jar with all the wax melted around it it feels positive and good. This week as I visited I was able to obtain personal concerns (hair from his baseball cap, a pair of socks and foot track dirt).
So my question:
Now that I have hairs, I want to put a piece of the sock, some foot track dirt and the hair (with mine across the top) into a piece of paper (folding towards me) and adding to the jar already in progress.....my intention is to strengthen the jars power with the concerns I now have. Will this work to strengthen an already working jar or do I need to start all over?
Thank you all! I love this site, so much useful information!!!

You can add the concerns to the current jar. However, I'd just add the hair with your hair. Save the other concerns for other work. You don't need to overload it with a million different concerns, so don't waste your valuable resource of concerns all in one place!

Hi, I made a Boss fix honey jar about two days ago and my honey has settled, leaving me about 25% of the jar honeyless
...Is it okay to open and fill my jar being that I Have NOT started lighting candles on it? Thanks!

I love you Jesus!
Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
The jar doesn't have to be full of honey, just enough to cover your petition paper and herbs.

My original message is quoted above, thanks Devi Spring for your advice on the use of herbs (see message below my original one).
Could someone advise me on the best colour of candle to use and, as Devi advised me to add vanilla, if I should add some vanilla seeds to olive oil (I'm waiting for LM supplies) to use on the petition and candle.
Also which day would be the best for starting it.
Thanks

Hey, I was wondering - do you clean burnt wicks from the metal lid of your honey jar? And if so, how? What do you use to clean it?
I haven't done so yet and I have quite a collection of them lol

If the work is ongoing I do not clean the jar at all. The remains contain energy , thoughts and prayers from previous candles and I want them to stick to the target at hand until result is reached.
Some people wipe the lids with a moistened cloth. If so, be sure to collect the remains, save them or dispose of them in a proper way.

Ok thank you very much Dr Johannes. I have no wax leftover at all as I only had a bit and that got cleaned off by another candle a few days ago which I'm very happy about.. only wicks remains so good to know it's ok to leave them

Hi Cheshanna,
I'd start the work on Sunday or Monday personally, going for the Solar brightness and energy or the family ties associated with the moon. Wednesday would also be appropriate since it's associated with Mercury who rules communication.
Candle-wise, I'd work with white since it covers a spectrum of issues that can affect a friendship. Blue for tranquility, peace and fidelity would work as well. Pink is usually associated with romance so....
Blessings and best of luck.

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Hi there. I have just ordered a honey jar love spell kit from Lucky Mojo and I wondered if, instead of just eating some of the honey myself I could use it in an apple and honey cake I was already planning to send to my intended (and in which I am thinking I'll include some menstrual blood). To my mind getting him to eat some of the spell jar honey would only help but I wanted to see if anyone more knowledgeable could see a possible unintended negative consequence of my plan.
Thanks for your help and advice!

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Hi all,
I made a Love me LM honey jar few weeks ago. I've been lighting candles on it few times a week and shaking it.
Now, in the past few days when I go to shake the jar the honey inside wont move and seems like its carmelized.
I can't make another one because I dont have any more hair from the target and used all I had in this jar.
Is my honey jar Ok and should I just continue lighting candles and praying over it?
Thank you.

As I've actually read all pages of this thread (seriously) I can tell you it's ok it's caramalized, it doesn't affect the jar. But I think if you make it a little warmer it'll become liquid again.

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
You may want to work in a slightly different style if you want to cook with your spelled-up sweetener. If you can frequently cook for him, then I would make a sugar jar on him for that purpose. Make a petition paper for your cause and place it at the bottom of your sugar container at home, and pray over that sugar container at least once a day. You can add a vanilla bean into the sugar too - it adds a delightful layer of flavour to the sugar, and also contributes to the love work. So his name will surrounded by the fixed sugar, and then you can use that sugar to cook with! Just top off the sugar as you normally would, but in a prayerful manner.
You may wish to get a copy of the Hoodoo Cookbook that Lucky Mojo sells, as there are some great recipes for love that you can use, and whole batches can be cooked up with conjure for your petitions.
You can still have the Love Me honey jar, of course, but the honey jars are pretty small, and you don't want to be depleting them by taking honey out all the time - just keep working that with the candles and prayers.
Best of luck!

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Devi,
Thanks for your reply. I hadn't thought about making a sugar jar as well and keeping on cooking for him with that specific tool in mind but I'll certainly do that. If you don't see any problems with using the honey jar contents just the once, as well, then I think I'll do that too. It just so happens I need honey and sugar to top this cake!
Thanks also for the recommendation of the LM cookbooks. I had read about them elsewhere on this forum and I'll think about picking them up in the future if this kind of work seems to go well for me -- it should do, since in my day to day life I'm a keen and reasonably accomplished cook but we'll see if my magical ability matches my cooking skill!

I have cooked with honey from a honey jar, but i did not add anything to that jar which was toxic (e.g. Calamus root) or anthing that could rot or spoil (e.g. menstrual blood).

Thank you for your reponse. I tried to warm up the jar but the honey is crystalized. perhaps because the weather is so cold? Im sure its fine though still is honey inside right? I'll continue lighting candles on it and praying.

Many kinds of honey will crystalize - it's fine and there's no reason to nuke your honey.

Vanilla would also be a good choice, as it helps bring sweetness.Quote
I did my honey jar tonight at 7 pm, the petition, herbs etc are, however, floating in the honey i.e. not submerged, does this make a difference to the effectiveness of the jar?
Also, I've read somewhere in the forums that the day begins a dawn and not at midnight - this is confusing me as I'd like to burn the candles when my target is sleeping. Does Monday begin at dawn on Morning or at Midnight (between 00.00 and 00:01am) i.e. between Sunday and Monday. I hope you understand what I mean.
Thanks
Anna

Well, astrologically, the day begins at dawn, when the sun crests the horizon. Bureaucratically it begins at midnight. Some people work one way or the other, I personally was taught that a day begins at dawn, and this seems much closer to the natural world then counting midnight as the start of a new day.

Cheshanna - with honey jars the herbs are folded into the petition paper to make a little packet, which is then pushed down into the honey. Generally speaking, unless herbs escaped the packet (as they sometimes do) there would not be a bunch of herbs just hanging out in the honey.
If however, you did fold everything into a packet, pushed it down completely into the honey, and it has floated back up to the top, that is fine.

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Hi there!
It doesn't hurt your work to light a candle on your honey jar more frequently than Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I would start out by lighting a candle on the jar every day until you see movement or change in the relationship with your boss, then switch to burning candles on the jar Three times a week to keep things steady.
The time of day is up to you, although lighting it just before you go to work gets you focused on your boss. So, in that respect, lighting it just before you start work would be a good choice.
Good luck,
Mary Bee

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Yes, shaking up a sugar jar while praying on your intention really "heats up" the work! But you can absolutely keep burning candles on your honey jar. Either jar does the same thing: sweetening up your petition so it comes to pass.
Good luck,

I forgot to ask, do I have to set a new candle with boss fix oil every time?
Thank you so much for your input MaryBee!

What I do, when I work my sugar jars either for myself or for a client, is to shake the jar up *first* (while praying my petition) and then light a candle on it. I dress the candle with an appropriate oil, depending on what the jar is for.

Yes, you always dress your candles before burning them on top.
