Throwing the Bones Book Questions and Answers

Unread postby Psychic Mimi » Sat Dec 29, 2012 1:53 pm

I have a question about the Gypsy domino oracle mentioned in the Throwing the Bones book. The book says not to consult the dominoes more than three times, and maybe I'm over analyzing it, but I'm confused as to what that means. Does the three times mean three questions during any one consultation, or does it mean three consultations (with any number of questions) in a given week?

Also, is there any other book in the catalog with more info on this type of divination method?

It says that you must not consult them more than 3 times in a week. I read it as three actual consultation sessions in one week, no matter the number of questions asked.

...and here is a forum discussion (need-a-book-on-throwing-the-bones-t9864.html) on the subject.

jwmcclin: I believe that Psychic Mimi is referencing cat's book in the body of her first sentence. She is specifically asking for clarification of a specific direction mentioned in the chapter section regarding the Gypsy Domino Divination. I checked my copy of the book, found the section in question, and answered her to the best of my understanding. Hopefully cat will be able to add her definitive stamp to this conversation thread.

As I see it, a "consultation" generally consists of one question but you could ask a couple of subsidiary or related questions at that time. It would be unreasonable to try to extract replies to, say, 20 different questions during a single consultation session. So, perhaps a good guideline would be 3 questions per week, or at the most, 3 related groups of questions per week.

Thank you so much for your replies. I was hoping to hear otherwise, but I guess this means my hands better not touch those dominoes more than three times in a week. :D

What will happen if you throw them more than 3 times in one week?

Hello, Skone,

I don't think that anything bad will happen if that's what you're asking.

People who read the bones for a living throw them more that once a day!

If you're asking the same question over and over then, it's not a good idea to do that.

Take care
