HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
Good evening,
I am very interested in eventually taking the Hoodoo course. I have been immersing myself in the online "Theory and Practice" material, I have also read Hoodoo Rootwork and Hoodoo Candlework by Catherine. I have made several orders, and I am currently reading through the Black Folder (which by te way is amazing). I am also reading a book not related to the course at hand (The Magical Power of Saints). I have been an avid reader of books on tarot, astrology, and mythology in the past, and I really feel I would benefit from this course. I plan to begin posting more in regards to the items I have already purchased within other threads.
A question for those who have taken the course, are there certain products or books you recommend reading working with other than the items listed as mandatory?
When should I contact the shop and express interest in the course?
Thanks for any help!

Hi jbbollma, the required purchases are really a wide array of products to give you a feel, sense, smell, etc. of the different types of products and how they work. You get a really nice cross section of information. If you are looking for other products I would suggest that you see what you feel called to and go from there.
Best of luck!

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
Hello, I'm interested in the correspondence coursework. I have a question, because I didn't know about the store until late last night.
I plan on buying some herbs and other things. However, for the correspondence course, do I call Catherine or do I have her call me to interview me to see if I'm accepted?
I take religion very serious and would love to learn from her. However, I'm not sure what is the first step: Customer first or interview? Can someone let me know?

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
Hello,
In order to take my course you must be a customer for at least four months and you must purchase not only "some herbs" but all of the required books, CD, and spiritual supplies listed. You should click all of the links on the course page and read those pages too, about the homework, the method of teaching, and a few other topics of interest. You should have some connection to the African American community; for instance, if you are not black yourself, you should have black friends on Facebook.
Once you have made the required purchases and read the material, you can call the shop and an interview with me will be scheduled. The interview will take about one hour. I usually do two course interviews per week, which means i take on about 104 new students per year.
If you are interested in my course, then the next time you order any of the required materials, just add a note in the message area saying that you wish to be marked as a "prospective student." There is no obligation to become a student, but if you mention that, then any items you order from my shop will be check-marked as meeting the course requirements for materials.

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
I must mention that I would love to attend this course, because I feel in my heart its something that will give me what I felt I lost from my Santeria Initiation. I lost myself when I was initiated, it was never what I had envisioned it would be. In fact, talking to my husband I feel that its what I am meant to do. I was always spiritual ever since I was little and my family were all curanderos and espiritistas.
Anyway, I spoke with my husband and said, that perhaps this course is what I need to get back to what I lost 7 years ago. I don't have my mom or grandparents here to guide me anymore but I feel that as I read through the forum and the books that its exactly what I need. I love learning and I love herbs, candles, incense, and to be honest, when I saw graveyard dirt, it made me tickle, because prior to my initiation I would go to the graveyard late at night to do rituals prior to my initiation, but now I'm told I can't because I'm the daughter of Yemaya. So, I crave to be able to learn something that will bring my sense of spiritualism back.
I won't let you down, and I won't do anything that will bring shame to you, because its something that means a lot to me.

Miss cat has the patience of a Saint and she's an incredible teacher.
Many of us on the forum are in the Santeria Religion. And, as a forum rule, we don't say anything about other religions. Therefore, I have edited your post.

Thank you I'm eager to start!
Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
Hello, I am preparing myself in order to begin taking the Correspondence Course and Apprenticeship Program. I was reading through the various topics and noticed that it has been quite sometime since anyone made a reference in most of the topics. I have grown up around a few practices that in my earlier years hearing the word root-worker for practices in which were performed both in our home and in the community. As a young child this can be quite confusing and being raised between my mother and grandparents I use to think my mother evil for involving herself in such practices.
As I continued to grow into adult-hood I began secretly visiting various practitioners whether psychic or root-workers to get a handle of the ups and downs I was always faced with in my own life. To make a long long story short,
something really spiritual has began to evolve in my life, i find myself more open and more serious concerning my spirituality I was divorced in may and from there I started searching I did not want the divorce and was devastated, I believe myself to be a great person extremely intelligent always putting others first and the first to want to provide the greater good for another human. I have a non profit organization geared to provide transitional housing for ex offender, my husband did everything he could to destroy my business and it seems me.
A few months ago I began to have dreams premonition dreams and everyday something more supernatural takes place in my life. I have frequented the Lucky Mojo site for a number of years not really understanding why, I understand now and I think it's times for me to really tap into who I am becoming. Not only will this experience prepare me for continued spiritual growth; it will give me the channel to do what is driven by passion and that is to help others who don't know how to help themselves. I don't know if my marriage could have been saved or if I could have prevented the many obstacles that I have faced in this life. maybe those things have prepared me for this very moment, what I know today is that I am more than excited to journey on into a new existence.
I have purchased all other the reading material from the course and I am amazed at the vastness of it all, I find myself staying up late into the night just reading. There are a few more items that I need to purchase, small things and I know that you have to purchase these items over a four month period. My question is are there any exceptions to this rule. I could have read the answer someplace else but since there is such a wide gap in the questions I thought it can't hurt to ask again.
Respectfully

Hi Ronda,
To my knowledge there are no exceptions to the rule. Part of the time lapse gives you time to start doing some work on your own and become familiar with the forum, the on-line resources and the products. It's worth the wait: I promise
Blessings and Success.

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
Hello folks! So I've found myself interested in enrolling for the Correspondence Course. I've been reading the books and getting good feeling moving forward. I want to just check myself that I'm not missing any blaring points of the required purchases. I'm looking at it as trying different product types and categories and seeing how they could meet my needs (keeping in mind what other folks' needs might be). So I've avoided getting things of the same line and have explored products that aren't necessarily my main life concerns at the moment. For example, I purchased uncrossing oil and tried a ritual for uncrossing myself that I had read in the online book. I definitely felt some shifts within myself. I'm excited to explore the other products out there and see what they can do for me.
I fully understand and respect establishing a purchase history and quite frankly I find the service and quality provided by Lucky Mojo preferable to my local options. If nothing else, I have respect for the quality. When I read the bit about "greens for greens" I was dumbfounded. I'm thankful I've never experienced anyone making such a substitution. As a shamanic practitioner I fully agree that greens for greens and browns for browns is ludicrous and offensive.
Anyhoot I digress. So my question is this, while I'm exploring possibilities and folk lore, is there anything else I should keep in mind while I make the 'required purchases' in addition to my own?
Thanks much!

Hello, Anais,
Your IP address is 174.61.49.41, which indicates that your location is in or around Miami, Florida.
If you are not a black American, then for homework number two, you will be required to meet, make friends with, and talk about folklore, family customs, and folk magic with an African American.

I was looking at the required reading list for the course... I haven't bought the books through this site. I actually got them off Amazon. Is that alright or do I have to buy it from this website directly?

The Curios and Spiritual Supply items on the list must be purchased from my shop, not from a reseller.
The books i have written may have been purchased elsewhere, and all are available at Amazon and from a wide variety of occult and metaphysical book stores who purchase them from us at wholesale.

Sorry, I just wanted to clarify, I may be reading too deeply into this-
When you say the books may have been purchased elsewhere, you are saying it is ok I didn't buy them from this website?
I understand I need to buy the curios and spiritual supplies from here directly, I was just making sure I didn't have to repurchase the books

As long as you are making your required purchases at the rate of one invoice per month over the course of four months as indicated at http://www.luckymojo.com/mojocourse.htm ... _PURCHASES, I wouldn't hesitate to place my fourth order. With regard to the third order, assuming that you placed it online, you might want to log in on the shopping cart page, click on the View/Edit Account link, click the Orders button, get the order number for your last order and call the store and inquire about the status.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes,

Greetings everyone
I am a newbie and I'm not sure if this is the thread for this post, so my apologies in advance, as I'm excited.
I just placed my order for ordering the required items for the Course, and I have learned so much from just doing that,
I enjoyed going through the inventory and researching the items. I just called the shop because
I had a few questions regarding my order and Angela was very helpful and patient. I'm proud to be a member of this
beautiful community!
Peace and Blessings

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
I am almost certain the answer will be yes, but Law Keep Away would work for one of the repelling products, right? It will definitely take some time for me to purchase enough items for me to be eligible for the class, but I'm compiling a list now. The only parts that have been difficult are the negative/repelling items. It would take a hell of a lot for me to want to curse somebody, and it is exceedingly rare that I want to remove someone from my life, as I tend to not let those kinds of people into my life in the first place. I've listed Banishing oil as one of my products, as I figure I can use it to remove things like bad habits, and Law Keep Away is one of the few that I think would be useful to me personally, as I am less than fond of the police and would like to avoid any and all contact with them whatsoever. Does anyone else have some suggestions for a third repelling product? I suppose I can get some Hot Foot powder just in case I may need it, but I'm open to other suggestions. Thank you!

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
After reading some of the other posts more closely, which I should have done in the first place (shame on me), I don't think I really need help in choosing repelling products, as there are a few that slipped my mind. However, I would like to know if a couple items I recently purchased fulfill some of the requirements. I recently bought Steady Work Sachet powder, lodestone grit, pyrite grit, High John the Conqueror root chips and pieces, and Bayberry root chips. Since I read somewhere on here that Miss Cat suggested buying grit-sized lodestone and pyrite for use in mojo bags, I'm assuming I've already fulfilled the mineral requirement. As for the bayberry, since it is technically a root, but not a whole one suitable for a mojo bag, does this fulfill part of the herb requirement? If not, there are a few others I added to my list. And as for the Steady Work sachet powder, since it is supposed to attract a new job, would this be an appropriate attracting powder? I hope I don't give the impression that I'm trying to rush into this, because that is not the case. I am a 25 year old broke college student, so it will definitely take me a while before I'm ready for the class. Thankfully, this should give me enough time to learn as much as I can until I am ready. I just want to be sure I'm on the right track and buy things that both align with the work I want/need to do *and* fulfill the purchasing requirements for the class.

Hello, veggiekiller420 ,
I think your best bet is to call the shop and ask them (707) 887-1521
If you live out of the country, then e-mail them: order@luckymojo.com
They can best answer these questions.
But I do believe that Miss cat is requiring whole roots
Take care

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
Thank you, Miss Aida!
I believe you're right, I remember reading that whole roots were required, so I assumed that the High John root pieces I ordered would not fulfill the root requirement. I was just not sure if Bayberry, since it is a root sold in chip form, fulfilled the herb requirement. I may just be overthinking things, as I often do. For the root requirement, I was planning on getting a whole High John the Conqueror root, and I haven't quite decided on the second. Though I've never worked with High John, I am aware of its extensive use in rootwork, and am eager to start working with it.

Hi veggiekiller420,
High John is a great choice. As a second, an Angelica root is a wonderful choice (and has a very different energy); alternatively, a lucky hand root can be nice to complement the High John.

veggiekiller420, yes you want to make sure that you get a whole root and not chipped root. There is a slightly different energetic and this is why it is required for you to work with a whole root. If you have questions call the shop and speak to Mother Katrina, she will be able to answer any of your questions.

I am planning on making a big LM purchase with my refund and would really like to be in the course but does Miss Cat accept people of all faiths? I see alot of mention about hoodoo being connected to protestants are catholics like myself acceptable?

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
Sure, i teach all faiths. What is important, though is that you are coming to hoodoo as a cultural guest -- not trying to change it to suit you.
I mean, i would not go to a Buddhist picnic and tell the folks there to confess the Lord Jesus, nor would i go to a Christian day care center and tell the staff that my kid was going to be attending but would have to be treated according to Muslim sharia law.
Likewise, if you use Facebook, but none of your Facebook friends are black Americans, you probably should not attempt to take this course.
In other words, use good sense. You know by now what this course is about (if not, read this thread from page 1 onward). If it does not seem like a good fit for you, just don;t take the course.

Hello, Machito,
Just from the top of my head:
Repelling: Hot foot; Banishing; Run Devil Run
Negative: Crossing; Double Cross, Jinx, Damnation
Harming: Destruction; D.U.M.E., Revenge
These are just a few. Take a looks at the oils and you'll get a list of everything they do (the incense and the sachets serve the same purpose)

Have fun in the course!

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
First, I hope everyone who is there is having a wonderful Hoodoo Heritage Festival. I live in Minnesota and was prevented from being there, which was particularly a bummer because I am very excited about the release of Johannes Gardbak's book on Trolldom
I would like to take Miss Cat's course. I have bought most of the supplies and I'm about to send off the order to get the rest of the supplies and books on the list (as well as a few extra things like the Trolldom book!). I would like to know if I should schedule a reading with Miss Cat before I try to finally sign up or schedule an interview. I already know I definitely want to do this (from thinking about it for the past few months and some Tarot readings and I Ching throws I have done myself) and I am prepared to finish all the lessons on schedule. I don't have religious reservations or any others (if anything else, trying out Hoodoo has made me a little more religious than I have been for a long time, which has been good), and as I white guy I am ready to talk to black friends about any folk practices in their background. Thanks!

Hello, dave peterson ,
Acquiring a reading from Miss cat is not required for matriculation.
HOWEVER, I would highly suggest a reading from her because she is PHENOMENAL!
So, it's up to you. But, I say: GO FOR IT!!
Anyway, you'll love the course. Miss cat is the world's best teacher and mentor with the patience of a Saint. She is always there for us whether folks are in the program or have graduated.
I'm excited for you!!

So excited! I just placed my final order to qualify to take the Correspondence Course. Now to get the orders and schedule an interview with Ms. Cat. I've been waiting a while to reach here and now I'm one step closer. Thanks to you all for your hard work and continued support! Without you this would not have come as quickly as it has. Sharing is caring

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
Greetings
I have read, up in the thread above how the "Required Reading" is not necessarily "needed' to be purchased from the LMCC shop, or online, but Amazon purchases cover this as well. Do we need to provide any sort of documentation? And also, do we need to buy 2 copies of each book if 2 people in the same household wish to take the course at the same time? The other piece in question is the Conjure Toolbox CD, do we need to buy that again as well?
Thanks for the time on this, just trying to be clear.

It is my understanding that you do not have to purchase the "required reading" again if previously purchased. You just have to have them and at read them by the time you're accepted into the course. As far as purchasing 2 copies of each book or the toolbox, I'm not sure. I would think not, but you both would have to purchase items separately to establish your purchase history in order to qualify to take the course. You can always call the shop and speak to one of those wonderful workers who can give a definite answer. I hope this help.
Until next time,
TawanaNicole (SatinIce1)

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
Hi TawanaNicole
Yes, I actually called the shop yesterday ad confirmed that one only has to OWN the books, from whatever source. Two of mine were purchased through the shop (and signed by Miss Cat!) and the rest were bought through Amazon, or at the shop in May a few weeks ago. Same with the CD, we got that at Amazon. They were able to pull, and pool my invoices in less than 2 minutes, and answering any questions cheerfully and efficiently. So we are clear on the required purchases. 2 more orders and we're good.
thanks!

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
I'm really excited. I still need to call and confirm things with the shop, but I'm pretty sure I will be eligible for an interview after one more order. It will probably be at least another couple of months, but I have made definite progress and learned a great deal since I started ordering. Thanks to all in the forum who have offered their guidance and advice. I really appreciate it, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to be considered for the course.

Re: HRCC: Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course
Hi! I was recently accepted as a student for the Correspondence course and I submitted a request to join the student yahoo group. When I log on it says I am a member (on the general yahoo groups page) but I haven't been added to the group as of yet. I've tried a couple of emails that are listed for group moderator and such but haven't gotten anywhere. Does it generally take a few weeks to be added? Thanks, Michelle
