Ok, these folks just keep getting more creative. Le sigh...

So, here's the short version, had a new customer approach me in early January about purchasing a dollie from me, she asked a few questions, naturally, I gave her some advice but she never really explained to me her situation. After some time she never ordered the doll, then this morning I received an email from her again, asking more questions on hexing someone, so assuming she was still referring to the dollie (mind you she was very cut and dry so the tone wasn't typical of a prospective client). I again replied before it dawned on me, so I opened my email client to check her signature name and email address.

She calls herself Mama Joesph and her email address is realhoodooservices70@gmail.com which is when the red flag went up.

I do not know who this person is, however, I googled the name and this youtube video pops right up in which she is without permission using my images but also I believe Lucky Mojo's Hot Foot images and possibly other LM photos and while I know she's taken mine, it could very well be a other graduates here with websites in which she may have stolen from as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2vAM7mbvrI

I plan to contact her tomorrow with a link and kindly tell her to remove the images from You Tube and then contact you tube to be sure it's flagged or whatever they do. I can't find anything else on her, but I haven't had time today to really dig any further into it. Does anyone recognize this email address or her?

Sent her an email this morning, no response yet. You can certainly send her an email if you would like. I think the more she sees eyes on her, the more she will rethink her strategy of doing business.

If you scroll about a quarter of the way down the page you will see Miss Cat's Correspondence Course book offered as an ebook, as well as all of the Hyatt books, Dion Fortune, etrc, etc, etc.

http://occultebooks4sale.blogspot.com/p/hoodoo.html

Both of Conjureman Ali's books are listed in the Ebook pricing as 10 bucks each...which is MORE than I paid for the actual books themselves, even if you include shipping from the UK. Terrible.

Mama Starr's work is in that list as well.

the owner of the site, and presumably the seller of the pirated books, lists "his" email as alangomes742@yahoo.com -- possible Alan Gomes.

If you search for this it turns up this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw84O3Mxlug -- by enigmaticredrose.

Jesus Christ, Joseph! You posted that in the PUBLIC FORUM!

I have moved it to the Admin section.

Thank you very much for the information, but please, allow us the time to get it removed and don't ADVERTISE it!

The site is one associated with International Guild of Sorcery / IGOS -- which means Darren Fox -- who has sold illegal photocopies of Hyatt books in the past.

Blogspot is a google domain and google honours DMCA takedown notices.

Youtube is owned by google as well, and honours DMCA takedown notices.

I will post a file about Darren Fox for the aid of those who participate in the DMCA Takedown work. It is long, ad will thus appear in several successive posts.

Part One

STRAY FACTS ABOUT AFRICAN DIASPORIC RELIGION:
WHO IS BROTHER MOLOCH 969?

by catherine yronwode

I am occasionally asked about the identity of a person who
posts to pagan, occult, and folkloric newsgroups and elists
under the name "Brother Moloch" or "Moloch969" and offers
online courses in Vodoun (Voodoo), Obeah, and hoodoo. Here
is all i know about him; i have placed it online to avoid
having to send out repeated email messages. I have no intent
to slander or defame him, merely to provide answers to the
questions, "Who is this guy?," "Why is he attacking you?,"
and "Is he really what he claims to be?"

------------------------------------------------------------------------
MY ONLINE ENCOUNTERS WITH MOLOCH
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had run into Moloch in various internet newsgroups and
e-mists for a few years and did not think much about him
until in the year 2002 he began a series of disruptive
personal attacks on me in two different e-lists. During the
course of his second attack, he made the bizarre charge that
all i know about hoodoo (African-American folk magic, also
known as conjure) came from "books published by Chicago
perfume companies in the early 1900s." There are no such
books -- the implication being that i know nothing.

At the same time, Moloch also charged that his own Obeah,
Voodoo, and conjure teacher, Bill, had assured him that the
almost 5,000 pages of "Hoodoo - Conjuration - Witchcraft -
Rootwork, (the 5 volumes of recorded and transcribed
interviews that Harry Hyatt had collected from more than
1,600 African American rootworkers and hoodoo practitioners
during four years in the South from 1936 - 1940 and again in
the 1970s) contained "bullshit" and that Hyatt had been
misled by these informants. He claimed that Hyatt's books
were of little value to study. This was odd, because the
charge was being made in an elist devoted to conversation
about and study of the spells that Hyatt had collected and
published.

In addition, Moloch's charge was tantamount to a charge of
conspiracy, since Hyatt's informants gave virtually the same
information as the people who contributed to the similar (if
less far-reaching) collections of African-American folklore
by Newbell Niles Puckett and Zora Neale Hurston. Believing
Moloch was right and about 2,000 African-American informants
lied would require one to throw out Occam's razor and
install Moloch as the Arbiter of Hoodoo Truth.

Once i found Moloch's home page (thanks to a tip from Joseph
B. Wilson), i came to believe that the high price Moloch
charges for his own "secret" conjure lessons may be behind
why he is trying to convince people on the e-list that Hyatt
(and more recent authors, such as myself) are not valid
teachers of hoodoo.

After all, i am giving one-hour free consultations every
day, posting free spells to usenet and elists, teaching
students for free in my shop, putting entire books i have
written online for free, teaching a 52-week correspondence
course for 50 cents per 4,000-word lesson, and offering my
224 page book for a mere $14.95.

Who would pay Moloch $120.00 for a "secret" 7-lesson course,
hoping to learn how to make a gris-gris bag when they could
get the information for free online or very inexpensively in
print?

Marketing what Moloch calls "Root Work and down home Conjure
methods" for big bucks presents a serious problem to
money-grubbers and "guru" types, because it is a
family-based oral tradition within the African-American
community, and people are generally willing to pass along
what they know to folks whom they like. After all, even i --
a skinny Jewish teen-ager in the 1960s -- was taken into
people's homes and taught this stuff!

In order to charge $120.00 for 7 lessons, Moloch has to stop
people from getting the information for free from the
community or online, and also stop them from paying me
$26.00 for 52 lessons -- and one way to do this is by
convincing them that what is offered for free or at a
reasonable price is spurious and invalid -- that Harry Hyatt
was given "bullshit" by his informants, that i learned all i
know from "perfume companies," and that only he, the Great
Moloch, with his $120.00 "secret information" correspondence
course, knows how to "Unlock the Power of Voodoo Magic and
Root Work and Down Home Conjure Methods" !!!

With these thoughts in mind, i decided to learn as much as
i could about Moloch. I had politely asked him his name and
he had curtly refused to give it, so i started by uncovering
the secret of his taxonomic binomial, as it were.

In less than an hour, using the google.com search engine, i
had these answers:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
IDENTITY OF DARREN FOX / BROTHER MOLOCH
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brother Moloch 969, a.k.a. Moloch is

Darren Fox,
TWL, [an acronym of unknown meaning]
P.O.Box 546,
Middlefield, OH 44062-0546

His web site is
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Parthenon/3203

E-mail addresses he has used:

brothermoloch@hotmail.com

bm969@yahoo.com

guildofsorcery@yahoo.com

UNPROVEN BUT HIGHLY LIKELY:
A "Darren Fox from Ohio" (darrenfox@yahoo.com)
[note the same yahoo isp] has reviewed several books at
amazon.com -- all of them about salesmanship. Could be a
different Darren Fox from Ohio, of course, but Moloch is
quite the money-grubber :-) This Darren Fox says, "I sell
bulk delivered foods direct to consumers in-home" -- and i
believe he is Moloch.

UNPROVEN:
A "Moloch" -- Moloch (occams_laser@hotmail.com) --
[note the same hotmail isp] posted anti-feminist rants to
soc.men, 1999. This is consistent with Darren Fox's
anti-female biases in other venues.

UNPROVEN:

EEP! That was not my intention AT ALL!

Thank you for catching it so soon and moving it.

I saw the "Copyright Theft Reports" forum and surmised that this was exactly were the alert should go. From now on I will post these in the Admin Help area.

Sorry about that. Glad you caught the mistake so soon.

Part Two

------------------------------------------------------------------------
WEB CITATIONS REGARDING DARREN FOX / BROTHER MOLOCH
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following citations are roughly in chronological order.
They are helpful in tracking Darren's evolution from vaguely
Nordic "occultist" leanings, through his Lovecraftian
pastiche period, and into his current incarnation as a
self-anointed Voodoo priest with his own hounfort (temple)
and the power to teach African American conjure and
rootwork:

1994

At http://www.rosencomet.com/starwood/1994/STWDXIV_3.html
the line-up for the 1994 Starwood (neo-pagan and Wicca)
gathering lists among the guests "Darren Fox, published
occultist with the International Guild of Occult Sciences"
-- note the similarity of this organization to Thor Templar's
International Guild of Advanced Sciences Research Society,
and note that later Moloch retains the IGOS acronym but
changes the words to International Guild of Sorcery. (More
on Thor Templar below)

1995

At http://www.rosencomet.com/starwood/1995/STXV4.html
the lineup for the 1995 Starwood gathering lists among the
guests "Darren Fox: Sorcerer, Author of several books on
magic, [who] reveals Intermediate Sorcery 202."

1996

Darren's postal address, given above, is from 1996 and is found at
http://www.sentence-ov-desire.net/volum ... le-16.html
where, for the first time writing as Brother Moloch, he offers
his own publications for sale and asks that buyers "include a
money order or bank draft (NO PERSONAL CHECKS) for $15 made out
to Darren Fox." This is the only web page on which the two names
are found interchangeably and in propinquity. After 1996, Darren
Fox disappears and all subsequent references are to Brother Moloch
696 or just plain Moloch.

The page cited is half a belligerent rant against "SCA
retards" (the SCA is the Society for Creative Anachronism,
an organization of historic reinactment focussed on Medieval
and Renaissance northern European culture) and half a list of
simple African-American hoodoo jinxes, which he is still
calling "hexes" (a German term) at this stage in his career.

The page gives more personal details:

1) He refers to "our ancient Northern European forebears."

2) He reviles "authors who do nothing but spew forth Eastern philosophies
about Karmic nonsense and all of that rot."

3) He reviles "the inconsistencies and nonsense [of] these New Agey authors"
who claim that "Northern European witches & sorcerers were initiated
by Atlanteans" (see more Norse Atlanteans under "Associations," below).

4) He notes that "Purists from the Norse tradition will scoff at his
combination of Norse runes with Voodoun low magic."

5) He says he is living over the domicile of a female friend who runs an
occult shop and that she had a run-in with "an SCA retard" -- he
describes her use of Reversing Oil, but seems not to be using hoodoo
himself at this point.

This is his first mention of "Voodoun" (the Voodoo religion
of Benin, West Africa and Haiti in the Caribbean) --- and
rather than referring to it as a religion, which it is, he
disrespectfully calls it "low magic."

1997

At http://www5.chathouse.com/GBoccult/guestbook.html
on Tuesday, July 15, 1997 he signed a guest book, "May the
Gods of the Sidhe and ancestors bless you!" so he is
identifying as a Celt for the nonce.

1998

At http://www.witchvox.com/passages/farrar12.html - 32k
-- now for the first time as Brother Moloch -- he says he
lives in Middlefield, OH, and attended the Starwood
neo-pagan and Wicca gathering in 1996. More importantly, he
suddenly claims to have a hounfort (a temple in the Voodoo
religion, which only an initiated houngan or priest of that
religion would have) and he claims knowledge of the Jewish
mystical system of "Qabala" [he uses the awkward hermetic
spelling popularized by Aleister Crowley, not the Jewish
spelling Kabbalah] -- this is on the Stewart Farrar memorial
page. He met Farrar, a Wicca author, one time, he says.

If the claim on this page is true, and he really does have a
hounfort, then some time prior to 1998 he was initiated in
Voodoo. However, when asked his lineage in that religion, he
refuses to reveal it. Actual practitioners of Voodoo
generally name their lineage. This is because both the
African and the Haitian forms of Voodoo are ancestor
veneration religions, and hence one's biological and
spiritual lineage is important.

1999

At http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/10531?it=5
(a site on Christian occultism) on Sep 17, 1999 he states:
"An old acquaintance and practitioner of Obeah - the
Caribbean form of Witchcraft - stated that the Bible is full
herbal lore. He of course mentioned Hyssop and Frankincense
and Myrrh but have you done any research into the herbal
lore that the Bible holds?"

In late 2002, this message was only available via google's
web cache, meaning that the web page itself was down (404
error). Google caches are erased after three months, so
evidence of the page is probably gone now

As i interpret this 1999 message, now, in addition to the
1998 claim to have a hounfort or Voodoo temple, and thus to
be an initiated priest in Voodoo, Brother Moloch is claiming
to have studied Obeah (a Jamaican form of African-Caribbean
folk-magic and spirituality, not closely related to Voodoo).
His actual reason for posting, however, seems to me to be an
attempt to pick the web site owner's brains about the
Biblical uses of herbs.

2000

At least two of his posts from this year are archived at Lucky Mojo:

Sep 2000 http://www.luckymojo.com/esoteric/occul ... ocaton.txt
-- an invocation of the god Mercury, hermetic or
neo-classical in style

Oct 2000 http://www.luckymojo.com/esoteric/occul ... quares.txt
-- siva answers his query about why squares, not circles

2001

At http://www.vodou.org/fty/_disc/00000067.htm
on 11/10/01, he says "the best book out there" is "Bardon's
_Initiation Into Hermetics_" again indicating his hermetic
approach to magic.

At http://www.vodou.org/2001_guestbook.htm
also dated 11/10/01, he writes "I've been working within the
mystere of Legba [...] My teacher is both initiated into Vodu
and Obeah. I think he's got a few other initiations such as
from the Masons but he's not talking."

Moloch has now backed off from his 1998 claim to be a Voodoo
initiate with his own hounfort (temple), but refers to
having a "teacher." This teacher is not said to be a houngan
(priest), nor does Moloch refer to himself as a hounsi
(congregant), so he no longer seems to be claiming a
specific Voodoo initiation for himself, merely a casual
student relationship.

Legba is the crossroads god of the Fon and Ewe people of
West Africa, an important deity in African Voodoo as well as
in all African-Caribbean diaspora forms of the religion,
such as Haitian-style Voodoo. The term "the mystere of
Legba" is Creolized French and would refer to French-Haitian
Voodoo, not African Voodoo. Likewise, Moloch's earlier
spelling of Voodoo -- Vodoun -- is Creole French (the final
"n" is silent in French; the word is pronounced Voodoo). His
spelling in this instance, Vodu, is uncommon.

2002

Moloch offers a pirate edition of a copyright book by Harry
Middleton Hyatt for sale through an elist devoted to the
study of Hyatt's folklore research. The topic of the book is
African-American folk magic or hoodoo, also known as
conjure. See below under "Publications" for details. The
pirate book is published by the Brotherhood of the Northern
Light. See below under "Associations" for more on the BOTNL.

Part Three

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ASSOCIATIONS
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The groups that Darren Fox / Brother Moloch is associated with at his
own web site and through his editor/fellow traveller Thorguard (Thor)
Templar are as follows:

Thor Templar's Brotherhood of the Northern Light (BOTNL)
Thor Templar's International Guild of Advanced Sciences Research Society (IGASRS)
Moloch's International Guild of Occult Sciences (IGOS)
Moloch's International Guild of Sorcery (IGOS)
Darren Fox's TWL [an acronym of unknown meaning, part of his address in 1996]

Darren Fox's editor Thor Templar a.k.a. Thorguard Templar also
edited the "Wiccan Reader: An Anthology of Wicca by Paul V.
Beyerl," and "How to Get the Women You Desire into Bed" by Ross
Jefferies, among many other books. Most oddly. his name comes up
on several web pages about UFO aliens ("Thor Templar, who styles
himself the Lord Commander of the Earth Protectorate, and claims
to have killed more than ten aliens").

In 1994, he was listed as "Thor Templar, International Guild
of Advanced Sciences Research Society."

Thor Templar's BOTNL (Brotherhood of the Northern Light) is a
Nietzchean, conspiratorialist group, it seems. At
http://www.newdawnmagazine.com/articles ... vents.html
an article by Mehmet Sabeheddin touches on Darren Fox's /
Moloch's 1996 rant against the people who assert that Nordic
witches were "initiated by Atlanteans" (Moloch's words).

A few brief excerpts from this site will place Moloch's rant in
perspective. The site deals with "Atlantism Verses Eurasianism"
and brings up "Mystical Anarchism": "A radical political doctrine
aimed at reconciling individual freedom and social harmony,
Mystical Anarchism drew on the ideas of Friedrick Nietzsche.
[...] Mystical Anarchism is a thoroughly Eurasian sociopolitical
idea. Here we have a most arcane motif in a modern form: The
great struggle of the empirical, plutocratic Western
civilisation, against the mystical, sacrificial culture of
Eurasia. In occult terms it is the conflict of the impulse of
'Shambhala' with the renegades of 'Atlantean civilisation'. The
Brotherhood of the Northern Light battling it out with the
Brothers of the Shadow, external manifestation of the long war
between the agents of Being and Non-Being."

The author concludes that "Empowered by the wicked Magicians of
Atlantis, Western secret societies are in a state of occult
warfare with the Order of Eurasia. We await the arrival of the
New Era of Shambhala, the casting out of the Brothers of the
Shadow from the governmental and financial centres of the earth,
and the end of the evil karma inherited from the darkness of
Atlantis."

It seems that the BOTNL is viewed in this author's eyes as a
group of "Eurasian" Mystical Anarchists battling against the
"evil" Western plutocrats of Atlantean descent.

See more on BOTL publishing ventures below, with respect to
the pirate edition of Volume 3 of Harry Hyatt's "Hoodoo -
Conjuration - Witchcraft - Rootwork."

Part Four

------------------------------------------------------------------------
PUBLICATIONS AND REVIEWS / COPYRIGHT INFLRINGEMENTS
------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------
RITUAL MAGIC COURSE
------------------------------

At http://www.addall.com/Browse/Page/GAMES ... 552/3.html
there is a listing for
Pragmatic Magics
ISBN: 1571790438 - Hardcover - List Price: $45.00
Author: Darren Fox
Edited by: Thor Templar
Introduction by: Thor Templar
and one for
Ritual Magic Course
ISBN: 157179042X - Hardcover - List Price: $220.00
Author: Darren Fox
Edited by: Thor Templar
Introduction by: Thor Templar

These are the same books Moloch offers at his International Guild of
Sorcery page at geocities.com

At his site58880196 we find that Moloch is the author of this rather odd item:

------------------------------
VOODOO MAGIC COURSE
------------------------------

The Voodoo Magic Course
Each lesson is a step by step process on learning to contact the
individual LOA spirits. Papa Legba, the Lord of the Crossroads and
Guardian of the Gateways, is focused heavily upon in this course since
he is the first and last to be invoked at a typical Voodoo working. The
other LOA can be invoked using the same framework as is used for
Papa Legba.

Subject matter includes:

* Learn the modern ways of bloodless sacrifice!
* Create powerful talismans using Vevers for your needs!
* Learn to work with the 10 Voodoo Family Spirits!
* Learn how to work with a simple system of Sortilege!
* Test yourself at the end of the lesson and review with
open book quizzes!
* Learn about Root Work and down home Conjure methods
using Gris-Gris bags!
* All this and more in only "7" Lessons!

Learn the system that works! Then go out and use this secret information
to help you better your life and the lives of your loved ones! No longer
do you have to take it on the chin; now with the powers of Voodoo Magic,
you can alter your life, and those you care about, for the better!

Order the entire Seven Lesson Course and receive it not only bound under
one cover but also some extra information regarding Spirits that I use
daily for my own workings!

Price: $120.00 + $15.00 S&H

-------------------------------------

Personally, i find it wrong (yes, WRONG) that among all the rah-rah
promotion for the "secret information" and "powers of Voodoo" he will
teach you, Moloch fails to mention that Voodoo is an initiatic African
Caribbean *religion* featuring trance possession, that blood sacrifice
is a part of the standard liturgical ceremony, that the Loa are
*spiritual entities* and not servants whom you can "work" -- and that
Voodoo cannot be taught in the form of a correspondence course. No
houngan would do what he's doing. Only a phony-baloney cultural
exploiter would.

Moloch seems to be into shock-diabolism, selling African-Caribbean
religion as if it were "secret information," and grabbing after money.

The $120.00 he charges for his series of 7 "bloodless Voodoo" lessons is
rather amazing, i think. Of course, if folks want to pay that much for
the "secret information" behind "Root Work and down home Conjure methods"
-- well, that's their right.

There's more offered at his site -- for instance, a course on Medieval
European grimoire-style magic that he describes thus:
"Although it does NOT have any gore or blood aspects to it,
I would still classify it as somewhat diabolical."

I found that more amusing than shocking. It is a typical poseur's stance
-- bloodless Voodoo packaged as "magic,", bloodless Medieval magic
packaged as "diabolical," and lots of references to "secret
information," and "powers."

Part Five

------------------------------
NECRONIOMICON WORKBOOK
------------------------------

Moloch also offers The Necronomian: Workbook Guide To The Simon
Necronomicon" which promises "to unlock the true power of the Simon
Necronomicon." The "Simon Necronomican" referred to is a cobbled-together
Sumerian & Babylonian magic grimoire pastiche based on the horror
fiction of H. P. Lovecraft and written back in 1977 by a New York
City author pseudonymed "Simon."

Simon (real name: Peter Lavenda) was having a lark -- creating a fake
"real" version of a mysterious magical book that Lovecraft had mentioned
in several of his fictional stories in the 1920s. Now Moloch comes along
to "unlock the true power" of Simon's put-on book.

[By the way, i knew Simon and i even attended the unveiling party for
his clever Necronomicon pastiche in 1977. It was a truly odd party,
held in a BDSM sex nightclub in New York City called The Hellfire Club
(which was soon to be shut down due to the AIDS epidemic). Simon was an
okay guy -- but someone turned loose a lot of drugs at the party and i
ended up spending most of my time in the kitchen trying to calm down and
see to the physical needs of the folks who had taken PCP and were
freaking uncontrollably. But that's another story...]

Moloch's "Necronomian" is reviewed -- and charges of plagiarism are
levelled against him here:

I've seen _Necronomian_, and a friend of mine is getting me the _Hidden Key_.
Both of us agree that they're some of the lamest things we've ever seen
-- bad production values, poor scholarship, and a magick system that even
a non-practitioner such as myself could have improved upon with an hour's
work. Neither of these books is old -- they both came out in the last
few years. (Since you put so much value on their age, I should also note
that the Simon Necronomicon was almost definitely written in the 1970s,
and is in no way representative of ancient Sumerian mythology.)

you may have seen some information about a book called the Necronomicon
Workbook. The book's real title is the Necronomian, and retails from
the International Guild of Occult Sciences for $50 for non-members.
A friend of mine who practices magick picked it up and showed
it to myself and another friend who sometimes performs bookbinding.
None of us were impressed with the book's usefulness in magick,
Lovecraft-related scholarship, or binding. A couple of pages were omitted,
and that which remained needed to be proof-read. The book itself is
only 91 pages long, with a good deal of it being taken out of the Simon
_Necronomicon_. The last ten pages are material taken off the 'Net without
credit to the authors, and the book ends with a plate straight out of
Kenneth Grant.

Part Six

------------------------------
HARRY HYATT BOOKS
------------------------------

In December 2002, after decrying Harry Middleton Hyatt's
"Hoodoo - Conjuration - Witchcraft - Rootwork" (a 5 volume, 4,600
page oral history of African-American folklore and magic) as
"bullshit," Moloch began selling a pirate edition of Volume
3 of this work through the Brotherhood of the Northern Light
(BOTNL). The book in question is still protected by copyright.
Here is one of Moloch's advertisements for this book:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: Mon, 02 Dec 2002 22:36:54 -0000
From: "MOLOCH" <bm969@yahoo.com>
Subject: Special Offer for Hyatt's 3rd Volume

B.O.T.N.L. is offering a spiral bound copy of the 3rd volume
of the Hyatt "Hoodoo, Conjuration, Witchcraft & Rootwork"
book for only $65.00.

Note this is a xerographed copy bound with a plastic comb.
Thus the inexpensive price.

If you're interested, contact ValTyr at

botnl@earthlink.net

or fax/phone your order to 760-327-5582.

Just for you folks who're looking for a deal. ;o)

Good Luck

Moloch
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The phone number Moloch gave is in this advertisement is in
California and is spurious (or a typo?) -- it reaches the
non-published roll-over line of Integrated Commercial
Applications, a software company specializing in Accounting
programs.

The book "Hoodoo - Conjuration - Witchcraft - Rootwork" is
protected by copyright; at the death of Harry M. Hyatt,
ownership of his literary estate (The Hyatt Trust) was
transferred to the University of California at Los Angeles
(UCLA) which polices copyright infringements of the books
for which they hold the rights.

According to Patrick Polk of UCLA (Polk@arts.ucla.edu), the
sale of pirate editions of copyright materials controlled by
UCLA will be investigated and remedies pursued.

Hyatt was greatly opposed to any presentation of the data
other than via scholarly discourse [and] through the

I sent this to Lucky Mojo by email, but I'm also posting it here. I was hesitant to put a URL here for fear of generating traffic to his site, but I see in the pinned post that this is the preferred method of reporting and I trust the mods to remove the link.

Alan Gomes - alangomes742@yahoo.com - is selling pirated ebooks at {URL recorded by nagasiva} . These include cat's Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course and Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic.

The domain is registered through a privacy protection service, and the web site is hosted by ecatel in Amsterdam.

The last posts on these subjects were so long ago, and so I’m not sure I’m posting this in the correct place, but here goes anyway-

MysticMedusa.com

I don’t know how to post a picture but the LM Come to Me label is on that site.

Hi there, Looking at ‘Conjured Cardea’s’ site, the information re: Devils Shoestring is almost exactly as the LM site, with regards to placing 9 pieces into Hoyt’s cologne, etc. Just feel you may wish to check the wording of the text out on this website . Thank you

Aphrodite_Moon,

Citing work is often done in professional research and writing. I am not a sales expert, but to use this work she would have to have an agreement or permission by the source to use this information.

A poster with the same name from here posted information on the Intranquil Spirit on another site: https://forum.becomealivinggod.com/t/in ... ow/68508/4

He came here, gleaned as much information as he could while engaging with you then took it to another site, basically to act like an expert. The dates are very interesting.

Not sure what you can do about it, but a forum member (name redacted) is over on the previously mentioned board giving all the wrong information on the Intranquil Spirit and starting fights with people who give the right information. He mentioned and referred to LM so I would hate that anyone thinks that someone here let alone Miss Cat would lead anyone the wrong way.

Unrelated dealer, but a company from China called “Tabo Candle” is using using Lucky Mojo’s candle display to sell their product, with their website watermarked over the Photo. HUUUUUUGE theft.

Thank you. That is awful.

They are also spuriously watermarking the trademarked images of several other candle companies! We will contact Alibaba, the uploader site which the vendor is using for display.

THANK YOU.

Hi, SpellsnSuch.

Nope, that company is not an affiliate of the Lucky Mojo Curio Co. They are selling products with names similar to ours. There is no copyright theft in this case, but thank you for your concern for us. It is much appreciated.

The owner of that site is anonymous -- "Laura L'Angelle (aka Ms Laura) Proprietor / Practitioner Extraordinaire" -- and there seems to be no physical store and no means of contact beyond a web form-mail (a.k.a. "The Black Hole of Contact Forms").

The site is pretty and the writer states on her blog, "I first heard of this work back in 2005, when I was a student of Cat Yronwode. Unlike most of her students, I did not stay close, as we had a falling out early on."

Putting together the name "Laura" and the date 2005, i believe that this is Laura Profits a.k.a. Laura Hair, Student #0555G, who signed up for my course in 2005 and graduated in 2006. (She is Caucasian and she states on her web site that she first learned hoodoo from her black babysitter, "Ms. B" -- so i was not her only teacher.)

All of my graduates are invited to come and take free hands-on apprenticeship training classes with me. In 2007, she and i arranged that she would come out for a free one-on-one 3-week apprenticeship program. This was to involve me working with her 8 hours a day, for 15 work-days, at absolutely no cost to her, so that she would be able to set up her own shop. She lived in Arizona, and drove here. At the time, she was running Sister Moon Mystical Supplies out of of her suburban home, and was also developing companies under the names Black Cat Hoodoo, Black Cat Curios, and Noir Tees (a T-shirt company, with her husband).

As part of her free training, i asked her to sign a non-disclosure agreement. This is a stock, off-the-internet NDA, of the kind that is included in the standard practices of most businesses that involve the use of proprietary formulas.

All Lucky Mojo employees and all in-person apprentices i have ever had have signed the NDA. According to our database, 88 graduate students have completed the 3-week apprenticeship training program over the years, and another 76 apprentices have taken at least one of the 1-week segments but have not yet completed all 3 weeks. Out of all these people, Laura is the only person who has refused to sign the NDA. We were never sure why, and our guesses were that either she had somehow expected that the apprenticeship, which is about THE HISTORY AND TECHNIQUES OF MANUFACTURE, would result in her getting possession of my proprietary FORMULAS, or perhaps she thought that taking the apprenticeship would somehow legally obligate her to me beyond the simple terms of the NDA.

In any case, she phoned her husband in Arizona, and he told her it was a bad idea for her to sign the NDA, and she got very upset, told me she would have never come out if she had known she had to sign it, jumped into her car, and drove off on her second day here, spewing gravel on the driveway. We were left standing there, shaking our heads.

This is what she characterizes as "a falling out early on." From my perspective, we did not have a "falling out." From my perspective she drove away like a bat out of hell and i never heard from her again -- and, in my opinion, it was not "early on" in our relationship, either, because i had known her for two years, liked her, thought she was a good candidate to operate a shop of her own, and had offered her 120 hours of free training to help set her up.

According to my database records, 2,205 people have enrolled in my Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course, and of these, 568 have graduated. Of course not all of them have remained my friends. Some have died, some have moved far away, some have refashioned their lives in such a way as to exclude our former shared interests, some have succumbed to mental illnesses or addictions that preclude social contact, and some just don't like me anymore, if they ever did.

I am on the autism spectrum, so i do not actively seek out or pursue intense friendships (i prefer collegiality), but i am also a Taurus, so i never, ever discard friends or colleagues, and i remain loyal for life. As a result, i am always baffled when people choose to discard my friendship, and especially when they do so with hard feelings that remain in place, and which they bring up in public, after more than a decade. If i did something wrong, i apologize. If they did something wrong, i usually accept their apologies. Being colleagues and friends is a lot more pleasing to me than being foes or gossiping adversaries. (It leaves me more time to do my work!)

Friendships are so individualistic that there is no proof except the test of time when it comes to understanding which of my students will want to apprentice with me and which colleagues will remain as friends after one year, five years, a decade, or more.

Anyway, as Abraham Lincoln said, “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

So that is Laura Hair / Laura Profts. She makes her own oils. She is not associated with the Lucky Mojo Curio Co. in any way, and whatever went on between us in her mind, it did not go on in my mind. I bear her no ill will and i am very happy that she credited me for a spell i taught her, but i am also sad to see that my name is still a bad taste in her mouth as recently as June, 2019 -- a full 12 years after she drove out of our driveway and cut all ties with us.

People are strange ... and i include myself in that. I am strange too. We are all strange.

When I was researching mojo bags for the correspondance course, I ordered one of hers as part of the process. It was a competently made bag, from what I saw.

Shame about the drama...
