Greetings and Happy New Year!

Unread post by Tycelium » Thu Jan 06, 2022 8:27 pm

Hello all,

I'm pretty new to the forum though I've been lurking around this site for a while. I was lead to LM by one of the early students of the correspondence course and I'm floored by how much knowledge has accumulated here over the years.

Hoodoo is indigenous to my culture and since I don't have access to a local teacher (living in the hyper urban northeast U.S) I definitely intend to take the course this year. I currently work as an admin in a well-to-do school though I'm on track to move my family to a more rural setting to reconnect with the land and live directly from it. That spiritual bond is lacking in this huge city, because it was designed to mute the rhythm of the living, natural world. It's time to create a lifestyle and community that actually values life and not just the value of what I can produce for a corporate entity.

Anyway, cheers to you if you read this and have a safe 2022!

Tycelium --

Hello and welcome to the forum! Thank you for taking the time for us to get to know you better. You sound like someone of my own inclination -- hoping to reconnect to the land, and to practice natural magic as a part of that path. I am sometimes considered old-school or hard-core for my emphasis on hoodoo as having been based in country life, but i never want to lose sight of that.

Teaching students who have cultural and family connections to conjure is my particular interest, as a way of returning the favour shown to me when i was a young kid, learning from older people who had themselves been raised in the rural South and were making their own post-WWII adjustments to urban life. I often say that i feel that i was handed a gift and told to hold it and pass it along to the ones who would come for it later. You, and others like you, are the ones for whom i have been holding these treasured ways of working. When you are ready and have purchased the required books and products, i will be glad to speak with you and we can get you signed up as a student.

And thanks for being the first to make a post in our 2022 Public Forum Introductions thread.

I'm sure you have been exploring a lot on your own but these are links to general information on Hoodoo to give you a jumping off point:

Hoodoo History:

Mojo Hands:

Conditions and how we can address them:

Here is some info on how the forums are set up. It is divided into four major parts:

1) News and Announcements about the Lucky Mojo Curio Company and this site.

2) Lucky Mojo Spiritual Supplies and how to use them, listed in threads by product type and product title.

3) Life Conditions and Situations, with recommended Lucky Mojo products, spells, and advice.

4) The Online Hoodoo Community, including sites, events, and outreach sponsored by Lucky Mojo.

When you post, it helps your moderators, who are recompensed volunteers, if you post in the area of the board that is best suited to the archival of your question or comment. That way moderators will not have to move your post or merge it into ongoing threads.

If you can't find a post you made, it may have been moved or merged. Go to your profile by clicking on your name and "search recent posts" -- you will find it.

Within each board section there are STICKY threads -- ones that always stay "stuck" to the top. These are popular discussion-threads that you can read and add to if your questions or comments fall into one of these oft-broached topics. If you don't see a "sticky" that relates to your question, feel free to start a new thread in the relevant section.

We do have a few "thou shalt not" rules here, and they can be found in the Forum Rules link at the top of each page.

Most important for newbies are these five common errors to avoid:

1) Please do not come here asking for our formulas for conjure oils or for instructions on how to use spiritual supplies that you bought at a grocery store or at a competitor of ours; this is the Lucky Mojo Forum and is financially supported by the Lucky Mojo Curio Co.

2) Please do not post illegal copies of material from other web sites or from books.

3) Please do not post put-downs of any group of people based on their religion, race, or national origin, including derogatory comments about religions to which you may have previously been an adherent or comments in which you seek to falsely conflate any religion with the practice of evil sorcery.

4) Please do not start new topics; we have thousands of topic-threads already in place.

5) Please do not quote people by using the copy-paste function; it wastes space.

Thank you for the warm welcome and recommended reading, Ms. cat.

I'm grateful for your stewardship and research as it relates to these traditions. It's awesome that you had the good fortune of receiving these teachings in your early days! With much excitement I look forward to getting into the nitty-gritty of Hoodoo if approved.
