oh boy--we just got back from seeing this, and it was a lot of fun. And the only part I hated were the previews....ya go to a "horror movie" and they're gonna show horror movie previews. sigh.

wow--I've been meaning to ask the same thing!!!! I discovered these
books quite by accident, and from what I know of this period of time
they're pretty accurate. "Graveryard Dust" deals a lot with the
culture around vodou in New Orleans.

I've put aside all other summerreading ...

I just heard a tape version (books on tape) of Ruby Dee reading Mules
and Men by Zora Neale Hurston. I listened to most of it last night, and
it was FABULOUS! So much of it that was great on the page just bloomed
into something unspeakably magic.

I got it from the library, and it's available ...
