Do honey jars work if it's meant to be?

Like I've heard of it working out with people and their old lovers even if things ended pretty badly, and sometimes it doesn't work out at all.

What could that mean? That the relationship wasn't meant to be or they didn't work the honey jar right?

Is it okay to make a new one all together if it just feels right to do so?
