The practitioner said it's to keep the jar going as long as possible. But vinegar is a preservative.

Also I didn't think vodka would be something historically used.

Sorry I hadn't seen this reply. I apologize. I deployed the old jar. This Saturday after a good cleaning of the house and burning a road opener candle, I will be sitting down and working on a new jar.
