I was a little unclear in my question. With big flames melting old wax off the lid, there was never a pop. But this time the flame was very small and there was a very distinct pop. It is a metal lid.

I've been working my honey jar for over a month and had built up wax get completely meltd away quietly, even with the big flame. My last candle was on a wax free lid and with just the slightest bit of wax left and a small flame, the lid popped. Should I take that as some kind of sign?

I know now that it's common practice when doing name papers to turn clockwise for attracting and counter-clockwise for banishing, but I'm pretty sure I did it wrong with an earlier name paper. Is that enough to mess with my intent?
