Re: Crossroads and Crossroads Ritual: Questions and Answers
I feel silly that after posting this I found the Lucky Mojo article on the crossroads, with lots of helpful info. However, I would still welcome any additional info you feel is important or relevant.

Re: Crossroads and Crossroads Ritual: Questions and Answers
In my admittedly amateur studies of Hoodoo (and African-American folklore generally) I have come across the importance of the crossroads, and of a mysterious figure who can be encountered there, sometimes called "The Black Man," or "The Dark Man," or sometimes, bluntly, "The Devil." Of course, cross...

Re: Can anyone recommend some good scent incense?
I love the Abra Melin. It is very sweet and "mystical." I love to burn some of it when I'm prayng or meditating.

Re: Blending Two or More Lucky Mojo Oils: Questions and Answers
Since the Abra Melin oil is the same formula as the Holy Annointing Oil in the Hebrew Bible, I use it (and the incense or powder) anytime I want to just bless or express gratitude. I recently found that adding a touch of the oil or powder to other workings gave it a noticeable "boost." I like the id...

Abramelin Oil Questions and Answers
Just got an order of Abramelin in oil, incense, and powder. I was really drawn to this formula when I read that is based on the Jewish holy oil described in the Bible. I used already used the incense for trance work, and the effect was amazing! I'm writing for any suggestions of other ways I can use...

Re: Spell-Casting for Luck in Lottery Play
Would love some clarity on the differences between the various luck products. I have Lucky Hand oil, Van Van oil, Aunt Sally oil, Black Cat oil & incense, Lodestone oil, Five Finger Grass oil, Crown of Success powder, and Fast Luck oil. I've read the articles on these, but would love some personal a...

Re: How to Summon Invoke Test Banish or Work With a Spirit
Seeing that La Sirene appeals to you, and you've seen the mermaid, the very least doing some formal work with Her may be in order. Just always remember, when working with the Loa, to make offerings to Legba first, so He will open the door and help you communicate. I have found Him to be a big help w...

Re: Dream Books and Work-Out Books for Lottery and Policy Betting
So I bought Aunt Sally's Policy Player Dream Book from LM, as well as the Aunt Sally's Lucky Dream oil. I mostly bought the book for fun, but can't help but try it out for real. I welcome recommendations on how best to use the book, especially with the oil. I read the LM article on Aunt Sally, but w...

Re: An Introduction from Boston MA
Well, I'm a student of the Feri Tradition myself, and also looking into Hoodoo, so we should talk! :) I'm not a Feri initiate, but have been studying formally since this past August, and informally for longer; I very much consdier Feri my primary spiritual path. Hoodoo just sort of found me, but I'v...

Re: Deities, Angels, Spirits, Saints: Questions about Techniques
Thank you for the clarification. I can appreciate the difference between believing all things have a spirit, and personifieing those same spirits into "beings". There was a time in my personal practice when calling on or invoking deities or spirits to "bless" herbs or whatever seemed very important,...

Re: Deities, Angels, Spirits, Saints: Questions about Techniques
I know that Hoodoo is primarily Christian in its overall theology, but I've been reading the various articles on LM about good luck Gods and Saints, and the spirits of the dead,so it got me wondering: is there within Hoodoo any recognition of nature spirits, such as the Faeries, Dryads, Gnomes, etc....

Re: Hoodoo and Religion: Voodoo Wicca Santeria Witchcraft Christianity Atheism
I'm only beginning my formal journey into Hoodoo, so I can't address that, but I do have some experience with Shiva, and that I would like to share. Shiva is said by some to be the God of destruction, who consumes what is dead at the end of time so that the new world may be born. If things are as ba...

Re: Spells for Disrespectful Disobedient Troubled At-Risk Children
A little bit of my own story, if it helps. I'm gay, and I have seen the young, teenage gays who have made really BAD sexual decisions, and the ones who learned to behave in a healthy way. The ones who went along with the crowd, screwed up in school, and were sexually irresponsible were ALWAYS the on...

Re: Goofer Dust Questions and Answers
Thank you everyone for the responses. Based on your advice, and further personal meditation, I am not going to use the Goofer Dust in the protective work I'm planning. There is some Goofer Dust coming in my LM order, but I'll save it for when its needed for the work it was designed for.
Blessings!

Re: Ready to Learn AND practice
Thanks for the thread on Black Arts oil. Having read through it, I think I know why I was directed by Spirit to order it. Re: Goofer Dust. In a college course I took a couple years back we discussed Goofer Dust for an entire class period, believe it or not. The course was on Black Writers in America...

Re: I feel Suddenly Blessed and Saddened
Not to sound cliche, but we find these things when its the right time. That's been my experience. I am a new member of the forum, waiting for my first LM order to come in, and pondering a desire to study Hoodoo more seriously while realizing that this seems like the worst time in my life to study so...

Re: Goofer Dust Questions and Answers
A question on Goofer Dust. I know that this is a substance with primarily harmful uses (hence its name, "Killing Dust"), but can it be used for protection or other benevolent purposes? I ask this because so many jinxing substances can also be used for protection or hex-breaking, including many of th...

Re: Must We (and How Can We) Keep Rootwork Secret or Invisible?
Re: "portable altars" I was referring to my medicine bag; a small bag with a couple pouches that I keep in my backpack. It has a rosary, several totems, and usually a vial of oil and sometimes a small vial of powder. In other words, whatever I am working on magically, I keep some representation of i...

Re: Must We (and How Can We) Keep Rootwork Secret or Invisible?
I don't know all the details, so feel free to disregard this advice if it doesn't apply. It seems to me that if you can't have a stable and set spiritual working area, then what you may need to do is follow the example of the Native Americans and think of ways to use less supplies and keep them port...

Re: Ready to Learn AND practice
Just sent my first order in! How exciting! I ordered: * An extra-large Queen Elisabeth Root (I'm going to make a pendulum out of it) * Goofer Dust * Black Arts Oil (not sure what to use these last two items for, but they seemed to want me to order them) * Dixie Love Sachet Powder (again, just "felt"...

Re: Spells for Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Intersex Love
I appreciate the reminder about getting divination from someone else. I've been a professional Tarot reader and instructor for a couple years now, and can often do such work for myself; however, this is a case where the matter is so close to me I simply can't focus well enough to do the reading. Whi...

Re: Spells for Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Intersex Love
I feel very awkward asking this, but feel I have to. I have a very close friend, so close in fact that we've known each other 25 years, since we were children. We grew up in a very closed-off and ultra-conservative West Virginia church, and were both kinda odd so we bonded. In fact, we ended up as b...

Ready to Learn AND practice
Greetings! I go by Jibrael, and I'm from the Appalachian hills of West Virginia. Long story short, I am a practicing witch in the Feri Tradition, and am a lover of all things spiritual and magical. I recently acquired a copy of "Hoodoo Herb & Root Magic" from Amazon, and was deeply affected. In addi...

Re: General Honey / Sugar / Sweet Jar Questions and Answers
Question: I have two very close friends who have been at each other's throats lately, and the bad energy from that is radiating out and messing up all of us around them. They used to be really close, and the fight boils down to bad communication, IMO. Today the idea occured to me of using a honey ja...
