I've tried this, and I bypassed the nailing-to-the-door because I didn't have that option. I balanced them on top of the lintel and anoint them regularly with Fiery Wall of Protection. Nobody knows they're there and that suits me fine, I know it's not traditional but it works.

What gambling are you looking at?

I am in racing bets, personally, which has required some mixing and matching. Somebody suggested I carry a whole anointed horse shoe with me to races, and it's improved my luck somewhat.

I have an egg-shaped one that opens up so you can put things in it. It's very handy for luck work, but the downside is you NEED a stand for it or else it'll wobble all over the table. I use an old finger ring for it, but those egg/linga stands LM sell would probably be a much better solution... :-D
