Mandrake Root (Mayapple) Questions and Answers

Unread post by cecila » Sun Nov 10, 2013 8:02 pm

Hi,

1). Is the mandrake sold by Lucky Mojo Podophyllum peltatum or is Atropa mandragora ?

2). Could be Podophylum peltatum used for fertility spells?

Thank you

Thank you Catherine.
Is not very clear to me. In the page you gave it to me is nothing about fertility so I understand that I can not use Mayapple in a fertiliy mojo/spell. Is it correct?
Thank you again.

That is so. European Mandrake is used for fertility; American mandrake is used for love.

The magical qualities of this product are described in this book, with folkloric hoodoo spells for use in practical conjure,

Thanks for the information... With so many different/varied regional naming conventions, my head *may pop* ... Har har. (Groan)

I KNOW I've seen Ameriecan Mandrake/May Apple and/or Maypop (?) around here somewhere. This could be fun. The next time I drag my paw out to the woods, I'll ask him what he'd call it... if I were a betting woman, I'd bet he'd call it another thing to mow!
