Re: Tobacco (Cigarettes, Snuff, Cigars) Questions and Answers
ok ive definately heard of tobacco or cigars used in cleansing.
there was a definate excerpt on that in a book which was named "hoodoo mysteries." i believe oh the authors name is ray t marlborough.
I ask because he wasnt that clear in the different ways that they could be used, only having a small paragraph or so and just wanted more knowledge.

Re: Tobacco (Cigarettes, Snuff, Cigars) Questions and Answers
Tobacco is used in Hoodoo, but not necessarily cigars.
Cigars are far more common in Afro-Caribbean traditions.
Cigarette, pipe, and snuff tobacco can be used for control and cleaning purposes, and for contact with distant people.

I was once taught to smoke my money mojo in cigar smoke.
As for tobacco, you can fumigate yourself with it. Supposed to be good for physical protection and for freeing yourself from influences sent to you. You need a sincere prayer to go with it, of course.

Re: Tobacco (Cigarettes, Snuff, Cigars) Questions and Answers
Tobacco in African-American Hoodoo: Tobacco can be used in controlling people, clearing and pruifying spaces, for winning in court, and for contact with people who are not reachable by conventional means
Tobacco as a Native American Admixture: The use of Tobacco as a purification herb is found in hoodoo due to the overwhelming influence of the Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, and other South-East tribes of Native Americans who befriended runaway slaves, married with them, and even kept slaves themselves during the pre-Emancipation era. Tobacco was a saced herb among these people.
Cigarette and Pipe Tobacco: Most African American root doctors of the American South and also in the Northern cities used to smoke pipes until the rise of popularity of cigarettes during the 1920s. Now most who smoke use cigarettes, and some use roll-your-own, which is why many mojo bags used to be made in Bull Durham Tobacco sacks. Shred tobacco can be used to make wax-rolled fixed and prepared candles or as a top-dressing in vigil lights.
Tobacco Snuff: Snuff (not chaw, but powder snuff) is also a popular form of Tobacco in the hoodoo tradition. It may be added to mojo hands, sprinkled as (or with) a sachet powder, used to roll oil-dressed candles, to make wax-rolled fixed and prepared candle,to top-dress vigil lights, or burned as incense (or with) on charcoal.
Cigars: The use of cigars as a source of smoke (rather than as an herbal product per se, is Afro-Caribbean and probably derives from the cigar industry of Cuba. It has nothing to do with what we teach here, although some people in Florida have picked it up -- but most of those who have done so have also left behind their old Christian religion and adopted an Afro-Caribbean religion (like Santeria, Palo, or Voodoo). As such, they are outliers to this tradition, like former Christians who are now Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, or Wiccans.
Side-note to yoopylucks: The book "Hoodoo Mysteries" is a load of bollocks. The author has read a few books on Afro-Caribbean religio-magical practices and then fabricated the information that this is the same form of practice found among African American folk magicians in the USA. He is not the first to do this, but he ought to have known better, because everyone who has done it in the past has been exposed as a dreadful fraud, and now he is being exposed as one too.

I don't dislike Ray Malbrough -- i said that this one particular book of his is a load of bollocks and i said "he ought to have known better." I happen to like, promote, and sell two other books by him, namely "Magical Power of the Saints" and "Charms, Spells, and Formulas."

What is the Black Tobacco vigil candle or Black Tobacco? I read about this in the book "magical power of saints" - To be used with St Martha's vigil candle.

You can order a Black Vigil Candle to be dressed with Tobacco, or order a plain black vigil dressed for your purpose and then double-dress it with tobacco of your own, or with Black Candle Tobacco from the shop.

Hello.
I see a spell calling for the use of a black tobacco candle. When I looked it up on Lucky Mojo, I noticed that the tobacco looked like chips as opposed to an actual candle.
Since the spell calls for my name to be placed on the black tobacco candle, does anyone know how to use this tobacco candle?

Lucky Mojo sells black candle tobacco. And it sells black candles. Dress the black candle with the black candle tobacco herb and/or tobacco oil, and away you go.

Okay. Thank you I was not sure that that was the way to go to achieve the effects of a black tobacco candle. I want it to work in conjunction with St. Martha.

Hi,
Hope this helps....you can use the black tobacco candle....make your own candle and add black tobacco candle to it...or instead of writing your name on it you can use a clear glass(size your choice but not to large) olive oil add whatever else you desire e.g oils. paper or parchment with your name and the black tobacco candle....finish off with a floating wick...

Re: Tobacco (Cigarettes, Snuff, Cigars) Questions and Answers
I have also oiled a black six-inch household candle with Lucky Mojo Tobacco oil and then sprinkled it with Lucky Mojo Black Candle Tobacco or with snuff, dip, or chaw. This is messy but effective.

Hi all. can anyone tell me if they know of any good books on using Tobacco to cast spells, conjure and divination please???

Re: Tobacco (Cigarettes, Snuff, Cigars) Questions and Answers
LuckyMojo's selection of books is here : http://www.luckymojo.com/mojocatbooks.html (Of course since this forum is owned and run by luckymojo you're only going to get recommendations for books they carry)
I suggest you pick up Ms.Cat's book Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic and a few other books on herbal magic. Are you going to find "The Big Book Of Tobacco Magic!" no, no your not. I suggest you sit down with the plant and ask it what it will do for you and how it wants you to use it.

Speaking of Tobacco-
Can you use a cigarette for tobacco smoke to smoke a candle or something? If not I have a twist of plain tobacco that I could light and use as a smudge I believe.

I would use the twist tobacco, but personally I wouldn't use a cigarette unless it was a n organic one with no chemicals added. There's so much trash in cigarettes that I would NEVER use it as a smudge, or for anything good anyway.
Get pipe tobacco or a nice cigar if you can't get a real tobacco twist.

Re: Tobacco (Cigarettes, Snuff, Cigars) Questions and Answers
Lucky Mojo sells tobacco as an herb. Additive-free tobacco and cigarettes are also available in some areas.
Tobacco is used in Hoodoo for court cases, love-drawing, good luck, drawing trade to a whorehouse
, and jinxing, according to HHRM. It would be a good herb to work with if you are Native American, work with Native American spirits, or gamble at a Native American casino.

Re: Tobacco (Cigarettes, Snuff, Cigars) Questions and Answers
Generally you want to work with actual Tobacco, but several rootworkers merely unroll a cigarette or use the cigarette to blow smoke. Getting a cigar or using pipe tobacco in a pipe is another option.
Of course, Lucky Mojo has black Tobacco they sell that can be used quite well.

Tobacco is used for work of spiritual contact and controlling work. You can blow the smoke on the face of a skull candle, a picture, burn some on a name paper, or roll it onto a brown candle while calling out to your target.
There are even some tricks that involve sprinkling Tobacco in your mailbox or on your phone to get your target to contact you.

The trick can be effective on its own. If you want to do some candle work to further work towards your goal...then that is up to you. But the tricks that have been mentioned can stand on their own. As for the mail box, you sprinkle it into your mailbox, and what I would do in the case of a cell phone, I would get some tape and make a petition paper, and roll the tobacco in the name paper/petition then tape it to your phone.

Conjure Man,
For the trick w/the cell phone, can the tobacco be chewing tobacco or should I buy a cigar & open it up to get it out? Also, I've never heard of this trick before. Would you be so kind as to lay out how this trick is done or provide a link? It would be greatly appreciated
I'm home right now & have limited spiritual supplies on hand (alot on order from LM) & this trick sounds like a fairly easy one to do for now. Thanks!!!

I sound like a broken record
, but this is the Lucky Mojo forum...I highly recommend their black tobacco since it is a straight herb and nothing has been added to it, unlike store-bought cigarettes or cigars.

flamethrower
Thanks for your suggestion flamethrower & I truly would prefer to use LM's tobacco but I need to know what to use right now, in a pinch. I do recognize that this is a LM forum & I know that there are people who try to take advantage of the fact that this is a free forum & use it to get free advice, even if they're not a LM customer, but that's not the case here. In fact, unless LM doesn't carry it, I get ALL my spiritual supplies from LM.
Would someone please tell me how the trick that conjureman & stars described is done? I do plan to place another order soon & have a red skull candle & quite a few herbs on their way from LM now but I also need the directions for the mailbox/phone trick conjureman & stars were talking about.
Thanks to all

Re: Tobacco (Cigarettes, Snuff, Cigars) Questions and Answers
If you are talking about sprinkling the Tobacco on your phone or mailbox it's literally just that. You sprinkle the Tobacco while calling out to that person and telling them to contact you or praying your intent. Some people first burn a brown candle rolled in Tobacco then follow up by sprinkling. There are many many ways of using the Tobacco for spiritual contact and these are just a few of them.
I personally use a cigar to blow smoke on skull candles, but for everything else I use LM's Black Tobacco. I don't know where they get it from or if they grow it themselves, but it is extremely high quality. Just the smoke that it emitts when burning is of high quality. Its strong, pungent, and evocative.

It's not about whether or not the target likes smoking. It is about the power and property of thew herb, in this case tobacco's quality of aiding in spiritual communication.
There aren't any hard and fast rules about writing a petition. Just do it. You could write ont he back of the photo, on paper to place under a brown candle dressed with tobacco, on paper to tape inside your letterbox/to your phone... Whatever.
Don't put the cigar anywhere near the photo! The idea is to blow the smoke onto the photo. And there's no hard and fast way to do that and nothing in particular you have to say. You can make it as elaborate as a poem with swishy movements of the photo through the smoke, or you can just hold it there and say "CALL ME NOW!" Whatever works for you.
A good rule of thumb is to use the best quality ingedients you can afford. So buy the best cigar you can afford.

Can tobacco be used in a mojo?
I want to make a mojo dedicated to San Simon. Would tabacco be an appropriate choice?
Thanks,
S.M.

Hi Shadow:
According to Lucky Mojo's page on San Simon, which is right here: http://www.luckymojo.com/maximon.html, this saint is offered tobacco during his feast days, so that would be an appropriate item to put in a mojo bag dedicated to him. In general Hoodoo, tobacco is used as an offering to the dead and used to control and dominate people.
Good luck,
waterborn

Re: Tobacco (Cigarettes, Snuff, Cigars) Questions and Answers
I figured LM would have tobacco products but I couldn't find them. The oil sounds great to have but since you mention it's for dominating, would it be appropriate to use it to make and dedicate my own oil to him?
When this oil is used for dominating others, would you put it on yourself or on the person you want to dominate. I know some oils, like essence of bend over you can wear it yourself or you can put it on the person. I'd imagine that this one works the same but I rather ask than to end up making a mistake.
Thank you for posting that. I'm already making a list of items I want from LM.

You could, I suppose, but luckymojo makes and sells a perfume dedicated to San Simon here: http://www.luckymojo.com/mojocatperfumes.html which would be perfect for this.
They also sell a charm vile from Guatemala that is also dedicated to him and would make a very nice altar piece if you are going to work with him. http://www.luckymojo.com/mojocatamulets.html#guatemala

Thank you everyone for your information. Yes, actually I bought the oil a while back and I absolutely love it! I hope to get more because I'll go through this one pretty fast.
As for the vials, they are also a perfect addition to an Hermano Simon altar and thank you for showing me the link you posted HailDiscordia, I thought these weren't sold since I called and I was told that the San Simon Sachet was just an information page. I figured it was the same for these but now that I know that these are available for purchase I'll be placing an order soon for all of these awesome items ^_^.
Blessings and thanks to all who have contributed,
S.M.

Hi Shadow.Mandrake:
The LM San Simon Esencia perfume/cologne is excellent, I am glad you like it too! I wear it to work a lot.
Seems to help to make a little prayer to him and sniff before those tough customer calls..
He is offered cigarettes and cigars (liquor too) and many Guatemalan San Simon statues and masks are discolored or fire damaged from the lit tobacco placed in their mouths.
So you are on super solid ground to use tobacco in the mojo.
Another traditional offering is black copal, which LM also sells:

I've been reading about blowing tobacco at a picture or skull candle to get someone to hear your message more clearly. I have pipe tobacco and cigarettes, which would be the better one to use, also, should I add it to things like the box his dolly is in/the honey jar/in the herb mix for the candles?

I use cigars, but if you would like to use pipe tobacco or cigarettes that is up to you. I personally use it like an incense, and use it to blow in the faces of pictures as you stated.

Any kind of tobacco can work for you. Remember, though, that nicotine is toxic.

Re: Tobacco (Cigarettes, Snuff, Cigars) Questions and Answers
Hello everyone! Its only fair for all if i let everyone in on a little of the secrets of my ancestors,I have been learnin alot about hoodoo and well I have to say that I am very excited to be here. Well first thing first..... When we ask our "Grandfather" for any request for any situation,we first sage ourselves to rid of negativity, then with the opposite of our writing hand we grab tobacco and hold it while praying, if we do not use our native tounge we apologize first for not speakin our native tounge, then proceed to ask for what we need, be careful though,if it is not a good thing ,you or your family could become very sick if it is negative or selfish. when done praying tell "grandfather" thank you and place the tobacco at the base of a tree on the east side. This is very powerfull so caution is needed.
Thank you Saint Expedite for everything you have done for me and continue to do for all.
