Violet leaves are used in love spells. We sell violet leaves in two forms --cut and sifted, which is an economical way to get them for use in a bath, a sprinkle, or a mojo hand; and whole leaves, which are higher in cost (because each one is individually pressed) to wear in the shoe.

Hello,
I’m curious, considering that the associations with love come partially from the heart shape of violet leaves (and partially from the scent of the flower, if I understand correctly)- do the crushed leaves have different magical properties, or is it just a practical matter in regards to use (placing into one’s shoe vs bath)?
Thank you!

Veve,

It has the same properties. It is just that some spells like the one calling for a whole leave in the shoe is very specific in the ingredient's and in the purpose of the spell. An egg is an egg whether it's in a omelette for breakfast or a quiche for lunch. The recipe is what is different. That isn't to say it is interchangeable either. You wouldn't use a hard boiled egg for an omelette or a cake, right?

Terra Rising-
That was my suspicion; thanks for confirming! My understanding re: The Doctrine of Signatures is that the physical qualities of plants indicates their use, sort of like a “Ribs sold here!” sign. Although some spells get more specific (it’s not based on anything I’ve read, but I am intrigued by the idea that perhaps Spanish moss is used in doll babies because, though it may go dormant, it is in most cases still alive), it would be a huge pain if you had to preserve them in their pristine form in order to maintain their magical properties.
