Hello everyone, I am new to sharing on the forum here. Have been reading LMCC Forum and websites for years though....and am also from NJ northern Ocean County.
Hoodoo first appealed to me mostly because I was spiritually transitioning from a more orthodox view and practice in fundamentalist Christianity. I attended churches and bible studies from age 15 to about age 38. This includes over 15 years in southern Baptist, Pentacostal and Apostolic fellowships in which my involvement was on service level for about 5 years including 2 years of Theology, Biblical Greek and Hebrew.
I don't want to be too long winded here but feel a need to present where I come from. So prior to age 15 I was raised to be Jewish. Though my Mother came from a 100% Irish Catholic backround both my biological and my step father were Jewish and both also diceased now. I often had family get togethers where both Christmas and Hanukkah were celebrated...but I also had a lot of mystical experiences. But that is another long story. Made short, after having some troubles in life and not finding the answers I needed I began to explore Gnostic Judeo Christian Spirituality and Divine Magic, Intuitive Magic, Shamanism, and Hoodoo. I first found LMCC products at a flee market about 15 years ago while I still attended Church then started reading on LMCC websites about 10 years ago; prior to and during this time I have also practiced neo Pagan forms of spirituality and magic. . Hindsite being 20/20 I believe that all of the above was always meant to be as everything changed for the better since. It has been work ,and not easy either, but well worth it.
Having been a solitary eclectic for over a dozen years now I do feel a need for a supportive community where my faith can continue to evolve. I remember when I first made the decision to except the truth that magic was right for me and ritualizing it. My intentions were and still are to promote love, joy and peace, good health, long life and prosperity as well as to uncover hidden truths along my path. It's been a wonderful journey and I have no regrets. Even my enemies have been my teachers and I am grateful both for the experience which made me stronger and for surviving them...lol...as well as my own mistakes which I acknowledge humbly, and grateful to the Higher Power of my understanding for all of it...
It would be even better if I could meet some new, like minded friends. Thank you all for sharing on here. Peace
