Hello from Nebraska!

Hello hello
I'm new to the forum, though I have perused the site for a while now. I thought it was time to jump in and say hello.
I wandered here originally on a quest to get in touch with some family history; my great-grandmother had some manner of practice, but she died before I was born. However, stories were always told about her, and the book she kept all her notes in, that disappeared when she died. But people would come out to the house and ask for her help with various things, and she would make preparations for them to solve their issues. Sadly, no one followed directly in her footsteps (except that my family has always had a keen sense of herbs and we've relied on "traditional" medicine for as far back as I can remember), but I have always been drawn to the story of her. In my family we have a number of "gifts," (mostly pre-cognition, clairsentience, healing, and talking to spirits) and I wanted to get closer to her memory, and I thought studying things that she may have done in her practice would help me.
She was an African and Cherokee woman, so I've kind of been all over the map with my research, but I'm finding things that are comfortable to me, and finding my own practice - which I think is probably what she would've wanted me to do anyway. =p
Anyway, I'm just here, saying hello, and hoping to dive in and learn.
Have a lovely day, all
