Symbolism of Metals and Gemstones in Talismans

My question really comes down to whether or not the kind of metal used makes a difference in rootwork when one is creating amulets and talismans, and if so, what does rootwork say about pewter?

Lucylookingskyward,

With the exception of Lodestones and Pyrite, the symbolism associated with various kinds of metal is not as important in rootwork as in traditional European grimoire magic, since more of the work is done with roots and herbs.

However, when metals are used, their usual European grimoire associations to planets and signs of the zodiac are generally employed.

I am going to purchase one, I think they are beautiful, but I wanted to know if anyone had any personal testimonies to their powers.

Also, I see the variety of sizes, I don't want one too big or too small, and am confused as to what size would be appropriate. Any help is appreciated.

I couldn't stop thinking about this bracelet...I would think that the bracelet's size should compliment your wrist size.

Oh, i have two of them -- i like them a lot.

Some folks wear these bracelets to prevent or alleviate arthritis. That's why i started wearing mine. My mother had terrible arthritis and i hoped to avoid it by wearing the bracelets. They may have helped me, as i am 63 years old and have no arthritis at all, even though my mother had it from her mid forties onward.

Sadly, the man who made these metal bracelets for us and for others for the past 25 years passed away a couple of months ago. When our supply is gone, there will be no more.

I saw these bracelets and I liked the look of them. Although, I had a few questions about these bracelets.

I know they have sizes on the bracelets but how do you gauge what size will fit? I am a male but I do not have really large wrists so it is a bit hard to judge on what size to possibly get.

Also, how long do these bracelets last? Or do they need to be maintained a lot or cleaned regularly for use?

I was just curious about that.

Thanks.

To make the bracelets fit, you can literally squeeze them tighter or pull them farther apart.

You would not want the smallest size -- that's for kids and young girls -- but if you ask for one that will fit nagasiva -- a man with thinnish wrists -- he can select a good size for you.

How long do they last? HAHAHA! Almost forever! They are really, really heavy duty and sturdy. I have one that Tom made me 25 years ago! They do wear down, but slowly, very slowly.

To maintain them, you can shine them up with a silver cloth -- the kind of cloth you buy at the hardware store to polish silver. But they also get a nice patina, naturally. They are copper -- and if you sweat a lot, they will leave a greenish mark on your skin (it washes right off) -- which is a sign that the copper is being absorbed through your skin, or so folks say -- and that, the way it was told to me, is how and why they prevent arthritis -- the copper helps you somehow. Science says this is "just folklore" -- but millions of people swear it works, and i am one of those who swear it works, myself. :-)

Thank you, that is good to know. I was not sure if they moved too much since they were coiled metals.
Ok, I might do that. I also measured my wrist (lol) and it was about 6.5 inches so would that be like a size 5 or 6 maybe? Just curious.

That is great to hear that they will last or are sturdy. I might have to pick a few up (one for me and one for my mom).
Well thank you for the information on these I appreciate it.

Can this possibly help with other forms of chronic pain like nerve damage, adhesions, scar tissue caused from multiple surgeries or migraine head aches?
Thank you.

I agree with miss cat, I recently ordered one and it serves several purposes for me; as jewelry and as noted in cat's description (online) to prevent and alleviate diseases, for protection from demonic attack, and to enhance health and strength.

Hello,
Since miss cat made the comment about the smallest size of this bracelets are for children, I was wondering if it will be ok for me to purchase on for child. He is four and I would like to have something like this for him or is there any other type of protection for him
can anyone tell me what to use.
I am anointing him with Fiery Wall of Protection in the mean time (miss cat explained to me that is a little too strong, and because one of the ingredients in it, so Im waiting for the Protection oil for him).
My time some times is very busy and I may forget to anoint him, so that is the main reason I would like to have something on him so I don't have to worry on a daily basis for his protection. I think I am more incline towards a piece of jewerely for children, but any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Blessings.

We stock and carry many types of protection amulets of a size and style that are traditionally worn by children. If your four-year-old is old enough to wear a bracelet, we can select the smallest one we have.

Other very popular types of amulet for the protection of kids include evil eye beads that are inconspicuously sewn into their clothes, where they will not be seen; and flat religious medals, stamped amulets, and other metal charms slipped into the insoles of their shoes.

Thank you miss cat.

He is old enough to allow me to put jewelry on him, and does not fuss about it, as a matter of fact he likes to put things on him, he thinks they are cool. :)
Would you be so kind to help me select the most appropiate for him and maybe give me the link to it so I can purchase it?
Is that something you could prepare for him, as you prepare the silver lockets?
could a silver locket be appropriate for him?
Please advise.

Many, many thanks, and God bless you.

I got lucky with my first bracelet that I ordered for my six year old and it was perfect. I want to order one for myself and the baby boy. If I measure my wrist with a tape measure will anyone be at the shop who can check to see what size I need?

I've read that in Tibetan medicine, ALL the metals have benefits. I think the three metal bracelets are believed to have a synergistic effect, moreso than a simple copper bracelet. Whatever the case, they're beautiful...you can't lose. :)

Thanks to my Patrons, who contribute as little as $2.00 per week for an exclusive one-year sneak-peek behind the scenes, i am able to write a new web page every week on the history of folk magic and divination. After a year, these pages are given to the public to read for free. This week's released page is the "E. Nash Gem Birthday Series 1" -- a rare set of 12 gilded and embossed chromolitho postcards from 1908 that predict happiness and showcase a gemstone and a flower for every month of the year. Yes, no matter what your birth date, these cards will bring you nothing but joy, happiness, and doggerel poetry. Tons of scanning and cleanup went into this production and we hope you love it.

Go to:

to find the newly public page, and please consider supporting me on Patreon so i can keep on working on "It's All Ephemera!"

Thank you, Patrons, for making this possible.
