I cannot locate the place to add a signature file to my posts. I know that i am supposed to be able to find it in my User Control Panel (UPC) but am not able to find the place for a signature file within this control panel. help?

(this post looks funny now that it retroactively added the signature i made!])

The path is User Control Panel > Profile > Edit Signature. You cannot access an off-forum .sig (e.g. on your hard drive) but you can create a new .sig here and then select it for default usage.

Also note that it is against forum rules to place a URL (web site link) in your signature. It will be removed, and if you are using the signature line to spam the board, you will be banned.

And yay! Avatar images have been enabled as well.

Cat is correct, the forum wants the signature to essentially be a text file, so importing a .sig file isn't possible. However, it is possible to add graphical images to your signature; the image needs to be hosted on a webspace somewhere and the link embedded into the signature using the IMG button above the forum text entry box.

I should also mention that this is in part a frequently asked question (FAQ) in the forum and thus a concise answer to it (along with numerous other very helpful bits of information) may be found here:

You can upload your avatar from your profile. If you want to put your photo inside a badge of rank (such as HRCC Student) and need jelp, contact Nagasiva.

Images within text are available to Moderators and above. One of the buttons at the top of the reply box is [Img], which stands for image. It's on both the quick reply and full reply. Put that where you want the photo, and between the two tags goes the url to the photo you want. This information is currently only useful to MODERATORS. Regular users will not see the [img] button.

J Simulcik is correct, but do be aware that this method requires the picture be posted to a web space somewhere for it to work. You cannot upload a photo to the forum, nor can you link to one stored on your computer. There are web services that allow you to store pictures in a personal gallery that can be linked to (within certain restrictions) for free. ImageShack and PhotoBucket are a couple of examples of such web services.

NOTE, 2012: This information is only of use to MODERATORS. --cat

If you look above the advertising banner block, there should be a link labeled "User Control Panel". Click on it and it will take you to a screen with several tabs. Click on the "Profile" tab, and you well be in the area where you can change several things about your forum account. The forth section on the left is "Edit Account Settings"; clicking on it will take you to the area that has your "Username" setting.

After you have changed your username and clicked the "Submit" button, you are done. You will need to use the new username when you return to the Lucky Mojo Forums and need to log in, and all your existing and new posts will reflect the new username.

I did as you said but the username field in the edit account settings is the only one that will not change. Mine seems to be set permanently.

Avatars are limited to a 90 pixel width, a 120 pixel height and a 6 kb file size. You must have the avatar image somewhere online.

The most common reason that you may be unable to use your chosen avatar here is that the avatar you have selected is blocked due to its size.

If your image is, say, 146 pixels by 160 pixels, it will exceed the pixel limit, even though it is approximately 4.2 kbs, which is within the kbs limit.

Adjusting the pixel size should solve any problems.

If you look at the menu just above the ad banner, you should see a link labeled User Control Panel. Click that, and you will be taken to a panel with some tabs. Click on the Profile tab, then click on the Edit Account Settings link on the left side. The panel that comes up should allow you to change your password.

To get the spiffy Certified Practitioner avatar, you should pick it up from this web page:

http://www.luckymojo.com/samplebuttons.html

You can then use it as-is, or you can incorporate it into your own avatar image, using a program such as Photoshop to combine the images.

Avatars are limited to a 90 pixel width, a 120 pixel height and a 6 kb file size.

Avatars must be uploaded to the web. We do not host them here. You can use any of the popular photo-sharing sites, such as flickr, picasa, photobucket, etc. -- or your own web domain.

Once you have the URL for the picture, you can copy it into the place that asks for it in the avatar-uploading area.

If you are a high-volume poster here AND a Graduate / Certified Practitioner, please read the thread about the rewards program we offer for Forum Moderators who help out in the forum -- there are monthly Lucky Mojo gift certificates available to Certified Practitioners who function as Forum Moderators and also make a certain number of posts per month.

Thanks!

You can upload an image to a photo hosting site, then use the URL they give you.

I'm not sure if its LM policy, but on my forum I only allow links to images, takes a lot of space on the server if images are uploaded to the site.

by catherineyronwode
Hi, Kimberlyanne -- gbenson is correct; we do not allow you to upload a pic, as it eats up our server space.

All you need to do is to have the avatar image somewhere online (at your own site or at one of the many free photo-sharing sites) and then link to that URL.

Avatars are limited to a 90 pixel width, a 120 pixel height and a 6 kb file size.

We do not allow sexually explicit images, politically explicit images, or theft of images to which the copyright holders object.

GREAT! Thanks for the "how to"! And no worries...although I am comfortable with my sexuality, I won't be flashing my boobies on the forum 8-) ! As for political stuff...it's not my cup of tea  .

I will figure out the photo hosting thingy and get something posted.

Thanks Bunches...

Greetings:

When I joined this site, I had a now defunct e-mail address. I would like to update this address so I can receive the Lucky Mojo Newsletter via e-mail. How can I do this?

Love,

Roxy

This site -- the forum -- is not connected to the newsletter.

To join the Lucky Mojo newsletter, just keep refreshing this forum page until you see the newsletter banner (all green) at the top. Click on the newsletter banner, and when you get there, you can read the archives of our past newsletters and you can click on the envelope image that says "JOIN" on it.

When you join the newsletter, it asks you for some information (not much) and then it sends you an automatic welcome notice with a Lucky Mojo discount coupon. Once a month thereafter, you will receive Lucky Mojo newsletters and discount coupons at the email address you specified.

It is nice getting the updates in your email. Even living as close as I do to the shop I forget about the meet-ups and special events. Thanks for the updates!

Roxy: If you do this and it doesn't work for you (or seems to not be working) go ahead and re-enter your information. I went through it once and noticed that I was not getting the newsletters in my email box as my wife was. I just re-entered my info into the boxes and now I get them every time.

Hi Joseph,

Sorry that you guys were dealing with that nasty spam attack all by your lonesome.

I am checking back in now and it looks like the problem is resolved for the most part.

Do feel free to PM or email me in the future when stuff like this comes up, some days I don't make it to the forum but if I see a PM with a subject line about Spam I will check in to see what's up.

Hello all:

I'd like to use the Certified Practitioner avatar as my avatar image; I've got a copy of it linked to my Shutterfly account. All that shows up here, however, is the red x :( I checked the link and it seems to be correct. Perhaps it's the file size? I've tried resizing the file, but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Either your copy of the image is more than 90 pixels wide or your link to the giant photo-sharing sites does not work. If i can find a way to link your image in, i will do so, Waterborn.

Ten minutes later: I DID IT! Yay for me!

I have my image and not only did the artist approve its use, he shrunk it to the dementions in the previous post on this thread. It is in an attachment to my office email. I have saved a copy in my documents also. I have it but can I email it to tech support? I am not the techyist person on the planet.
Thanks in advance!

Please do not mail the graphic -- we can't use it that way.

Triplethreat, try Photobucket. It's very easy and free to upload a pic, and then it provides you with the URL to link to it. You enter that URL into the user panel here on the forum. That's what I do!

Reduce your image to 90 picels wide.

Upload your photo to photobucket.com or any other picture-hosting site, or your own web site.

Then use the image URL that it will provide you with in your user control panel here on the forum where it asks for an image/avatar URL.

That's the easiest way, in my opinion.
