Radio Show Program Delayed One Week (#3444)

Unread post by catherineyronwode » Wed Feb 16, 2005 11:35 pm

Due to technical difficulties, namely Dr. Kioni's inability to dial out
of his home tonight, the Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour show on
Christianity (including the Jewish Psalms) in hoodoo has been delayed
one week. Those of us who called in to be part of the live talk show
had fun anyway, just gabbing and trading tales, but the dialogue was
not recorded and won;t be part of the regular archives of the show.

I have revised the show schedule at
http://www.luckymojo.com/radioshowlist.html
to reflect this one-week skip -- and everything else has just been
pushed back one week.

To those of you who listen to the show via the web cast, we apologize
for the skipped week -- to those who stuck around on the phone line,
thanks for a fun evening anyway, and to those of you who play back the
shows via Dr. Kioni's archives -- well, you won;t even hardly notice
what happened, because the show will be presented next week and will be
archived for your enjoyment at a later time.

Cordially,

cat

The Hoodoo Hour (#3464)

Unread post by CKioni » Fri Feb 18, 2005 10:56 am

Hi Gang!

I am sad that we could not broadcast the Hoodoo Hour this week. I have
initiated the process to move my business line to another telcom
provider. Bell South (BS) has plucked my last nerve with their corporate
attitude of “live with it or take your business elsewhere.” My wife is
demanding the playback of the recordings they made when she called them
regarding our bill. She is in the telcom business too and knows that
every call to BS customer service is recorded. Of course BS is refusing
to honor the request because they would have to admit making a mistake.
Anyway, I should have my new service provider installed before next
week's show; thanks for your patience.

One more thing; speaking of weird stuff happening regarding the Hoodoo
Hour. I have encoded the first show of this season and it sounds really
good. Great job, Eoghan, you never sounded better dude! However, I
continue to have problems uploading the file to my server so that you
guys can stream it from the archives. I have talked to tech support,
changed software, etc and still no remedy. The file will upload *
complete and then abort. This problem began mid season of the Hoodoo
Hour last year amid recorded shows suddenly disappearing from my hard
drive.

As I mentioned before and will say again: this isn’t happening by
accident. If you guys value the work we are doing, at least help us
out. Cat, what do you think is the proper remedy here? I know if all of
us band together to banish this interfering energy, we will be
victorious.

Any thoughts and suggestions?

Happy Hoodooing!
Dr. Kioni

(I do my own kind of divations, Bibliomancy, for one, and what i call "looking in all directions." (I just stand and face different directions and see if i get a big negative hit off a certain direction, then try to figure out who lives off that way.) The strange thing here is that this show was essentially a reworking of the show that Eoghan did that was lost LAST YEAR. Is it something about the Congo, perhaps, someone not wanting hoodoo to be so African or to have such a strong connection to Christianity via Kimpavita and the Little Anthonies? I would seriously consider that. When you say you have encoded the show, and it sounds good, i take that to mean you can play it on a CD or in your hard drive. That is, it is not entirely lost, but it also can;t be found (online). The tech aspects, i can't help you with. But for the spiritual side, let's try -- SAINT ANTHONY. He was a major subject of that show and he is the patron of things that can't be found. I will light a candle to him today, as soon as i get into the shop. His Lucky Mojo web page, with some short prayers to him, for those not familiar with him, is
http://www.luckymojo.com/saintanthony.html
-- and i am sure there are many other web pages about him as well. --cat)

LMHRH Radio Show 02/24/05 Christianity and Hoodoo (Dr. Kioni, Cat Yronwode, Dara Anslowar)

Unread post by catherineyronwode » Thu Feb 24, 2005 12:40 am

I want to thank Dara Anslowar and Dr. Kioni for preparing and delivering a wonderfully informational radio show tonight on the subject of Christianity and hoodoo.

Christo-Conjure, as some of the current academics call it, is a great part of what identiifies hoodoo and Jamaican obeah as distinct from African-Diasporic religions and magical cultures such as Lukumi or Palo Mayombe.

Dr. Kioni will no doubt put the archived show up at his site for downloading soon, and it will also be available from him in the form of a CD, if you cannot download it. Check out his site for details.
