Thank you Catherine and Co. for creating this wonderful resource and keeping it all organized.
I am just north of McKinney TX (in Melissa, TX), which itself is a suburb of Dallas. My history in the occult is fairly long and involves a few different traditions, but none of that really matters as I believe one must explore everything in context. So, when I feel stuffy and Victorian, I do stuffy and Victorian things and try to understand the world from a stuffy Victorian perspective, when I feel like an 80s punk I make some squiggles on paper and activate them in the way most likely to piss off my parents and fashion "tulpas" in the image of McDonald's toys, dearest to my heart is my 70s SoCal Hermetic Pagan attempt re-imaging the Victorian stuff and stick a bit closer to the Key of Solomon source material with black mirrors and heavy incense. And I am still trying to figure out what it means to carry Christian and French Gnostic apostolic succession. I am also an avid student of Astrology and favor Ancient, Medieval, and Renaissance texts and techniques.
There are a few reasons I am drawn to this practice. The first being, the very first thing I did magically was out of Ray T Malbrough's "Charms Spells and Formulas" which found its way into my middle school library in Paris, TX in the early 90s. The second being that I have always been an outsider and have been drawn to others society perceives as other, and I want to get to know my neighbors a bit better.
I hope to become a student in the correspondence course and have received my pile of required books and read 'The Art of Hoodoo Candle Magic," "Paper In My Shoe," and "The Art of Making Mojos." I've placed an order for some supplies to do some simple candle spells and my wife and I are working to get the house in order so that we can start doing regular washes.
