"A pound of cake"? I think not. Someone may have given you a bum steer. Some saints -- like Saint Expedite -- enoy pound cake -- which is a special kind of cake -- but not a pound OF cake.

Pound cake is made by adding a pound of each major ingredient (a pound of flour, a pound of sugar, a pound of butter). You can find recipes online. You can also buy pound cake from a bakery or frozen. You offer the saint just a slice, not the entire cake.

But you also said something else unusual. Petitioning Saint Pádraig for love would possibly be relevant if the intended beloved was Irish, but I doubt that I would petition him for romantic intercession if my beloved intended was Lebanese or Indonesian.
