Hello from San Jose

Unread post by falz » Sun Aug 08, 2021 9:12 pm

Hi everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself before I jump into the forum and community as I prepare to sign up for the correspondence course in the next few months.

I am a transplant to Northern California, originally from the lowcountry swamps of coastal South Carolina, and have lived many places around the world in between. I was raised in a french Catholic home, and the other side of my family is Southern Baptist. I am now an active practitioner of Catholic folk magic and I incorporate some hoodoo elements into my work as well. I like devotional work and I find that it works very well for me, and the mistress of my home is the beautiful and powerful Mater Dolorosa.

I love to read, I love music, I love history, folklore, American tales, old folks' tales, ghost stories, life stories, movies, art and people. I am a practicing astrologer and my specialty is synastry and composite readings; I also read tarot for friends, and candle wax, mostly for myself. In my "muggle" life I am a radio host on an underground radio station based in the Hague, and I am also a deejay on the weekends when I can get a gig somewhere. I'm in my 30s now, and I'm halfway through my first bachelor's degree (in Radio/TV/Film at SJSU) so I find that time is very precious these days!

Finding the Lucky Mojo site with its wealth of knowledge has really lit a fire under my a$$ to learn more and dedicate myself to this work - I never realized such a powerful resource was so close at hand! Reading the free articles is helping me connect to my Carolina creole roots and the magical ways of my grands and great-grands. I am forever in awe of the twisted paths that life takes, and that I would find something that brings me so close to the home of my ancestors here on the opposite side of the country.

Looking forward to learning from the knowledgeable people here, and getting to know some of you and hopefully make some friends. I'm only a couple hours south of Forestville, and so once this whole covid thing is done and dusted, I hope to meet some of you in the shop!

falz --

Hello and welcome to the forum. You are living in the area my husband hails from -- the holy cities of saint Claire and Saint Joseph (Santa Clara and San Jose). I hope the pandemic winds down, but for now, let's be safe and communicate remotely -- Santa Clara would approve!

This forum, as well as my web sites, "Hoodoo in Theory and Practice" and "Southern Spirits," are free, and they are filled with much information. At the forum we answer questions, thanks to a dedicated team of moderators and admins. My books are reasonably priced and provide a window into the way professional root doctors and home practitioners work. If you dig deeper and want to make more of a commitment, i will be very happy to have you as a student. All of this is supported by our small curio company, which ships hand-made spiritual supplies worldwide.

I'm sure you have been exploring a lot of the forum and community on your own but these are links to general information on Hoodoo to give you a jumping off point:

Hoodoo History:

Mojo Hands:

Oils:

Herbs:

Conditions and how we can address them:

Here is some info on how the forums are set up. It is divided into four major parts:

1) News and Announcements about the Lucky Mojo Curio Company and this site.

2) Lucky Mojo Spiritual Supplies and how to use them, listed in threads by product type and product title.

3) Life Conditions and Situations, with recommended Lucky Mojo products, spells, and advice.

4) The Online Hoodoo Community, including sites, events, and outreach sponsored by Lucky Mojo.

When you post, it helps your moderators, who are recompensed volunteers, if you post in the area of the board that is best suited to the archival of your question or comment. That way moderators will not have to move your post or merge it into ongoing threads.

If you can't find a post you made, it may have been moved or merged. Go to your profile by clicking on your name and "search recent posts" -- you will find it.

Within each board section there are STICKY threads -- ones that always stay "stuck" to the top. These are popular discussion-threads that you can read and add to if your questions or comments fall into one of these oft-broached topics. If you don't see a "sticky" that relates to your question, feel free to start a new thread in the relevant section.

We do have a few "thou shalt not" rules here, and they can be found in the Forum Rules link at the top of each page.

Most important for newbies are these five common errors to avoid:

1) Please do not come here asking for our formulas for conjure oils or for instructions on how to use spiritual supplies that you bought at a grocery store or at a competitor of ours; this is the Lucky Mojo Forum and is financially supported by the Lucky Mojo Curio Co.

2) Please do not post illegal copies of material from other web sites or from books.

3) Please do not post put-downs of any group of people based on their religion, race, or national origin, including derogatory comments about religions to which you may have previously been an adherent or comments in which you seek to falsely conflate any religion with the practice of evil sorcery.

4) Please do not start new topics; we have thousands of topic-threads already in place.

5) Please do not quote people by using the copy-paste function; it wastes space.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Actually, I've been really interested in reading more on the Southern Spirits website, but for some reason, I haven't been able to reach it - I keep getting an error that says the website is down, even when I try it in different browsers or devices. Is http://www.southern-spirits.com/ still the correct url? Thanks in advance.

Thank you Miss Cat! I meant to come back and say this link works - thanks for that, and for the great resource.
