Mystics, Mages, and Magical Places 09/11/2023:

The 25th episode of Mystics, Mages, and Magical Places with Reverend Art and Reverend James, bringing you "Preserving Folk Traditions!"

Mystics, Mages, and Magical Places will be on the air at 4pm PT, 7pm ET with Reverend Art and Reverend James! We begin this show with an update from our hosts followed by a discussion on the importance of preserving regional, familial, and cultural folk traditions and ways to keep them alive.

The preservation of folk traditions is akin to safeguarding the soul of a community, for within these age-old practices lies the collective wisdom, values, and cultural essence of generations past. These traditions are the threads that bind us to our roots, offering a glimpse into the narratives that have shaped the identities of community members. They serve as a bridge across time, allowing us to commune with our ancestors, understanding their struggles, aspirations, and the profound insights they imparted. In cherishing these customs, we not only honor the resilience of those who came before us but also gift the same legacy, in its purest form, to those who will follow. Folk traditions are a living, breathing tapestry of human experience, a testament to the beauty of diversity, and a testament to the enduring spirit of humanity. They remind us that while we march forward into an ever-changing world, our foundation remains firmly rooted in the rich soil of tradition, and it is our sacred duty to ensure that these invaluable treasures continue to flourish for generations yet unborn.

Inspired by the 2023 Tennessee Folk Magic Festival hosted by AromaG's Botanica, join as Rev. Art and Rev. James recap the event and discuss the importance of keeping folk traditions alive.

Tune in online to listen:

2023-09-11 19:37 trollt Glass is all Iโ€™ve ever seen too.
2023-09-11 19:38 rev_art blue glass is the most traditional for bottle trees, typically you'll see blue wine bottles or of similar shape
2023-09-11 19:39 dr-sweets LOL...when we take out the trash the recycle bin gets raided by bottle redemption collectors so I know the glass bottle would get stolen if hung in the front yard.
2023-09-11 19:41 jaydeehoodoo Normally the glass has nothing on it (label-free), not sure if they are worth anything.
2023-09-11 19:41 phyllismargretgabor I have foxfire books
2023-09-11 19:43 dr-sweets Collecting glass bottles is a big thing here. Multiple baskets full of cans bottles every Wednesday night.
