Quan Yin sticks, a Chinese method of fortune telling also known as Chien Tung, Kau Chim, or Chi-Chi sticks. This booklet of poetic English-language interpretations, printed on rice paper with a hand-sewn binding, was made circa 1935. The front cover text reads, “Chinese Quan Yin Chinese Fortune Teller Lucky Lucky Coming To Day Shaking Shaking Come One Lucky Lucky Number Look in the Book and Happy.”

I tried reading with 4 cowrie shells and after listening to an older LMHRH episode I was inspired to ask if I was working with an entity of highest light and vibration working in service of God, the shells said "No."

I asked the shells if they understood that they knew they were not allowed to work with me and that they must leave, the response was "No".

I continued to assert that negative vibrations and energies were not allowed in my space and that they must leave and not return, to which they finally said "Yes".

This isn't something I've experienced before.

I anointed the shells with LM Fiery Wall of Protection oil afterwards because I wasn't entirely sure what to do after that.

I would love some suggestions. Smoke cleansing? Ritual cleansing bath?

Your question is on that borderline between spirituality and fortune telling.

The more religious diviners are, the less likely they are to treat the tool as a tool and the more likely they are to try to get confirmation of correctness and properness, the more likely to seek alliance to a deity or an energy being.

The more into synchronity or sortilege diviners are, the less likely they are to query the tool, the more likely to go with the flow, the more likely to align themselves with universal or cosmic currents.

In my pinion, these are matters of philosophy and style more than of rightness or wrongness -- but your mileage may vary.

As to cleaning cowries -- they are the shells of sea animals. I suggest lightly salted water or actual ocean water.

As New Years eve rolls around...it got me thinking about the year ahead readings usually given with tarot...on New Years Day or at midnight on The eve into day...

I've been hearing on the internet that there is a way to read the Bones to predict the upcoming year... something to do with dividing the mat into a circle with sections for each month then read what falls where...

My question is to those who read bones. I got miss cats book on reading bones and I have had some teachers teach me some tricks on how to read the bones

But I want to know how traditional is a year ahead reading for Bone reading?

And any tips for how it is done?

Please do not repost the same question multiple times in the same forum thread; it takes up space and makes it confusing for the individuals answering the question and those reading the forum.

I am not sure on the internet source you have read, if they have a method and it is working for them, then try it out, part of learning is trying and seeing what works for you.

Is it traditional to use bone to read for the upcoming year, of course it is!

Varies cultures have used different divination methods to determine a year ahead, major events, curses or blessings on a person etc. I have seen people use dominos for a New Year spread, I have seen and used personally dice for a general how will the year ahead be positive. You may set a circle and divide it like a wheel and each placement is a month, or a season.

Geomancy which uses a binary system and read which can be read with bone dice, has houses, or mothers (depending on how you are reading it) can be broken down for a year reading as well.
