From DC, by way of the Great Dismal Swamp..

Time to introduce myself at last. I've been reading and learning here for about half a year, and enjoying LM products for about the same amount of time. The journey has been wonderful so far - from visiting the store and reading HHRM to fascinating excursions into Tarot, the history of Conjure, coins (Mercury Dimes), Maximon, and more.

I was raised amongst the marshes and swamps of Southern Virginia, with no family tradition of conjure that I have been able to recover so far. But there's a sneaking suspicion it was around there somewhere, wafting along with the scent of Bayberry in the woods. As a kid I used to pore for hours over a spiritual and herbs supply catalog obtained from an ad in the back of a tabloid. It was fascinating, but I did not know what tradition was involved, or how to use the items. This past year, stumbling on the LM site, there was a kind of shock of recognition - All of a sudden those Lucky Dogs and Lodestones and High John roots made sense and flooded back to memory.

I've been hooked ever since.

So, hello everbody! I look forward to reading more and posting too.

You know the more you look for conjure traditions in your family tree, the more you find, it seems. Good to have you with us...this is a wonderful forum.

Good luck in all your works,

Michelle

Thanks for those thoughts CopperFox, and thanks for the welcome, though I am tardy in saying so.

The family is veery protestant, and most of the folks in my parents' generation or older are gone on, so the nut is a bit difficult to crack. Been thinking about broaching the subject with some of the cousins...

Hello neighbor,

It feels great to find someone close to home. Maybe we could exchange findings along our path.
