Hey there,

My name is Penny and I am 32 years old -I live in PA near Philly. I am a student of Orion Foxwood's Faeryseership. Orion has really peaked my interest in Hoodoo and I find myself drawn to it. I find myself drawn to many things having to do with the South.....past life possibly- maybe ancestry?

Anyway....I have gotten the Hoodoo Herb and Root book and it is great Formulary but doesn't explain much. I am making my way through Cat's online book as well. Does anyone have any other books to recommend to get started?

Also I know I am not ready to take her correspondence course as I am just getting my feet wet...but can I order the student book from her?

Welcome Penny, to my knowledge, the book is only for sale to students in the course. But someone will correct me if I am wrong. Indeed the course book is only available to course students.

While not entirely conjure, the books of Draja Mickaharic, which LM sells, has a great deal of folk-magick information. He draws mostly from Eastern European folk-magick with a blend of Afro-Carribean practices, but does include a good deal of hoodoo as well.

His books are good introductions into the folk-magick and along with Miss cat's writings will give you an idea about what folk-magick is all about.

Miss cat's HHRM includes a wonderful introduction to it that will help you understand the practices. HITAP will have most of what you'll need to learn about the background and history of hoodoo.

I second the recommendation of Draja Mickaharic's work, keeping in mind that it's not all hoodoo but will get you thinking in the right direction.
