Hello from MA!

Unread post by JimtheConjure » Fri Jan 21, 2011 8:14 am

Hi Everyone! My name is Jim. I've been reading the forum for awhile, but never registered. I've learned so much from all of you already and look forward to participating more. I was recently accepted into Miss Cat's Correspondence Course. I've been working through the exercises slowly and thoroughly and loving every word!
I live just north of Boston, MA. with my partner and our menagerie of cats and dogs...three of each. I'm a Scorpio with Scorpio rising and a Cancer Moon. I'm a make-up artist by profession, but spend as much time as possible either outside in nature or studying/practicing conjure and divination. I read Tarot. I'm currently trying to learn Tea Leaf Reading and would love to know more about "Throwing the Bones".
I suppose that's enough for now. Thanks everyone for having me and to Cat for creating such a valuable resource/community for us to share.
Take care!
J.

Welcome to the forum JimtheConjurer. Learning how to Throw the Bones is definitely one of many methods of divination (as you are aware); there are a few reader/rootworkers with that gift and since you want to learn, consider contacting one of them for a consultation I have posted a link to AIRR hhttp://www.readersandrootworkers.org/index.php ... ral_Curios

Hi everyone! I just got accepted to Cat's Hoodoo Course also ((doing happy dance)). I can't wait to get my book and start the course!!

I'm from Stoneham, MA - about 10 miles from Boston. Glad to see some other folks here from fabulous (yet chilly) Massachusetts. I am married with no kids (at this point) and in addition to my full time job, I do tarot, mediumship and astrology readings, reiki, hypnosis and I'm an ordained minister (non-denominational).

Looking forward to getting to know everyone better!

Hi JW & Svarthyndan! Thanks for the welcomes! I'm sure I'll have questions so I'll be chatting with everyone here often!

How long have you been in the course (or done with the course?)

Well I graduated this fall and started the course a year before that in September 2009 I believe.
I had been a frequent visitor of the lucky mojo site for several years before that.

The forums are a great place to learn and get answers to questions, so just ask!

Hi JimtheConjurer and welcome to the forum. If you're interested in learning to "throw the bones," Lucky Mojo is conducting a series of workshops this May, one of which is a dedicated to Throwing the Bones. You may want to check it out. Sounds quite special.

I'm going to quote the newsletter that came out today: "Mvanah Maloti has promised to come in as a special guest and teach a two-hour intensive workshop in Sangoma Bone Reading (also known as Throwing the Bones or Casting the Bones). He went to Africa to learn this ancient art from a traditional healer and teacher in Swaziland, and now he is bringing it all back home to American hoodoo practitioners. This is a rare opportunity to learn bone-reading, and it is one workshop you must not miss."

Thanks Svarthyndan. I plan on asking a lot of questions. I can't wait to get my book. I'm reading the forums now and learning quite a bit just by the info here!

Niteraptor, hehe, taxachusetts, oh yes, especially since we've gone up to a higher state tax. ((shaking head)) Crazy.

AmaSarah, thanks for the info. I had heard of throwing the bones several years a go when a friend of mine told me that was one of her divination tools. Do you read with bones?

Hi Spiritualitygirl,
Do I read bones? I wish! I'm a terrible reader of any sort. It's one of the things on my long list of "areas of improvement." haha.

good luck!
