Hi! I've been listening to the LMHRH show for about a year. I just love it and I've meant to check-in at this forum for months. Greetings to everyone! :D

I've been interested in magic/magick, spells, spirituality, world religions, metaphysics, divination (tarot, i ching, tea leaves) etc. since girlhood. I'm 40 yrs. now. I first learned about hoodoo from a friend in the late 90s & I was instantly fascinated.

I look forward to sharing and learning here! <3 ~dd

Welcome to the Lucky Mojo forum DinahDoll! One of the many services Lucky Mojo offers is this forum, where you can ask questions about how to use Lucky Mojo's spiritual supplies.

Here are a few others...

(http://www.luckymojo.com/catalogue.html) Lucky Mojo's online catalog that includes the various hoodoo oils, incense, powders, spell kits, and candles.
(http://www.luckymojo.com/hoodoo.html) cat's online book of conjure craft: How to make mojo bags; lay tricks; burn candles and incense; use baths, washes, oils, powders, herbs, and roots; draw luck, love and money; and take off crossed conditions.
(http://www.luckymojo.com/hoodooherbmagic.html) cat's book Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic; also listed here are excerpts from the book.

Thanks so much for the welcomes! I have _Hoodoo Herb & Root Magic_ by Cat and it's wonderful so far. I actually bought it last year  but I just starting reading through it in the last month or so. I've also ordered supplies from LM 2 or 3 x. I have several oils, powder, lodestones & sand... scotty dog magnets, (lolz..they're too cute :P ) , a mojo hand..etc from the LM online shop. I just love the old-style labeling too!

The LM website is just awesome! I've been reading the articles and information there for years and still there's a ton for me to cover.

I'm happy to join the boards, esp since I don't have many people to talk about these kind of things with. My husband is tolerant but definitely a skeptic. I love the listening to the shows too because it's like 'wow, they're speaking my language!' Lol! I feel very 'at home' when it's on.

In fact today I wasn't feeling well earlier, and I've been going through the old podcasts in my iTunes. That's what reminded me to come to the forum.

I'm rambling but thanks again for the welcome!! :D

Hello, DinahDoll --

Berkeley is my old home town; my daughter lives there too. One of the better rootworkers in America lives there, too -- Ms. Robin. She doesn't post on this forum, but you can read more about here at her AIRR page and contact her.

http://readersandrootworkers.org/index. ... =Ms._Robin

And i hope some day you make the drive up to the shop (it's less than 90 minutes) and say hello in person!

Hi Cat!! :)

I just want to express how much I appreciate your work and diverse approach. My background is sort of weird ...well 'eclectic 'is the word i guess. In my family, we're a mixture of unspecified AfroAm/Black, Creole, Irish & Native Amer. on my father's side and Nigerian, Ashkenazi Jewish (Polish & German), German, and Haitian on my mom's side.

A few ancestors and relatives were/are into magic as well but most were/are outwardly Baptist, Jehovah's Witness, Jewish, and Catholic. The more I study hoodoo, the more some of the weird family stories I've heard make sense. LOL!

There are several long stories there of course that I won't drone on about right now but at one point(in the 90s) I was very drawn to Judaism (orthodox) studied with a rabbi, spent time in the community & and had an official halachic conversion, w/ the Bet Din, mikveh and all.
( quick side note: for some reason the Egg cleansing practice always makes me think of Kapporos for Yom Kippur and the chickens or money..lolz)

Since then, I've drifted back into my personal mish mash of spiritual influences and practices, including some Hindu and Tibetan tantra ( I love Tara, Kali and Lakshmi), ...I've also got this thing with Hermes, which is really random & left field, but maybe it will make sense some day. I also still read a lot of Jewish mysticism, I really like Aryeh Kaplan's books.

I'm not sure how much I'm actually absorbing & integrating these days with 3 young children but I'm trying to stay sane and keep learning. Our youngest starts school this year so, G-d willing, my brain will start working a bit better again.

Thanks for the reference to Ms Robin. She looks amazing!!

Thanks again for the welcome Cat! You totally rock! I definitely want to come visit you in Forestville one day soon! :D

DinahDoll -- what a great family heritage you have! As we used to say: ... "only in Berkeley!"
