Hello from Southern California!

Hi all,
My name is Ozma, and I have been into the metaphysical since I was about 14. I call myself a Witch but with no specific category (though I would say a Catholic Witch would sum it up most, though it maybe a contradiction in itself, lol). I love HooDoo and rootwork, because rather than the flash and bang the ceremonial magicks promise, to me it is "the Magick of the people".

I love this forum, and hope to make great friends on here!

I do have a question, as I have seen a few comments on "Polish Witches" on here.

Does anyone know where I can get more information on Polish Witchcraft practices? I am myself am Polish and have always wanted to learn about the traditions and attributes of witches from Poland. I know it's a huge Catholic population, and can't seem to find anything online. Any info or sites would be a great help! :D

Hi oxmalicious and welcome to the Forum!

Actually, Catholic Witch is not so oxymoronic a term since a couple of the more well known European grimoires written by Albertus Magnus are actually Catholic in origin. Albertus Magnus was a Benedictine monk also known as St-Albert. The ban on practicing magic by the lay person in the Catholic faith arises from St-Thomas d'Aquin, one of Magnus' students if I am not mixed up in my history. Furthermore, these grimoires are more like recipe books of Natural Magic than ''Spell-Books'' in the modern sense of the word. Instructions are for very practical things like getting crops to grow better, how to fertilize the soil best, how to use astrology and make sigils, how to cure toothaches and hangovers and how to improve spoiled wine (amongst other things). But this has nothing to do with Hoodoo and thus I digress...

For the Polish aspect, it's certain that here on the Forum you won't be finding much since this is a Forum dedicated to the fine products at Lucky Mojo and how best to use them in the context of your magical practice. To help you'll find many talented practitionners happy to help and provide lots of free (and useful!) advice.

Many Blessings,
Aura

Hi Ozma, I am glad to meet you. I am also new to the forum and like you, I consider myself to be a christian witch, although there may be other titles, such as magician, that I can identify with at this point in my life. Welcome to the forum.
