Greetings from Canada

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself from the great rainy north of British Columbia. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and hopefully glean some insight and great stories from the well traveled. I grew up with the Eastern esoterica and studied some of Western traditions. So I fancied to start here with hoodoo and work my way south to begin my studies with the African and African diasporic traditions to expand and enrich my current knowledge base. See ya on the forum! :D

Hey Mama Micki,

I take it you're somewhere across the border or within province?

Hi Asecerack and welcome to the Forum! I hail from Canada as well, although the other side of the country and much further from you than Mama Micki!

Keep in mind that hoodoo is not a religion in the sense that most African diasporic traditions are. Miss Cat explains this in detail on her page on what hoodoo is and is not in a page you may find interesting here: http://www.luckymojo.com/hoodoohistory.html

It is also useful, if you haven't already, to read through the on-line book on Hoodoo in Theory and Practice that she's made available for all here: http://www.luckymojo.com/hoodoo.html

Blessings and we look forward to your input in future.

Hey aura and thanks for the welcome and the info, funny thing is we used to be provincial neighbours (a Toronto boy myself), I moved to BC fairly recently. I did visit those links when I first encountered Lucky Mojo and I refer back to those links you posted again and again so I don't misunderstand the literature. The culture and history alone in conjure are quite the treat for someone like me so I'm enjoying the constant name dropping and extended reading that I'm steeping in.
