Greetings, Everyone!

Hello,
I am relatively new to the forum and have posted a few times, but haven't formally introduced myself yet.
My name is Athena, and I've been interested in hoodoo for a while, but only recently have begun to really engage in the practice. I've been interested in spiritual arts all of my life, and come from a long line of folk magic practitioners (although not in the hoodoo tradition). My family originated in Greece, and we have a longstanding tradition of cultural beliefs and practices. My deepest memory as a child was of relatives constantly spitting on me whenever they would visit...three spits on my head every time they would see me. Anyone looking in from the outside might have called the authorities, but they were simply blessing me and keeping evil spirits away from me. Yes, I was spat on quite a bit growing up!
My maternal grandmother (who I was named after) was the local "healer" in our community...people would call her to find out if someone had put the evil eye on them or a loved one, and she would conjure up the answer and dispatch a remedy to anyone afflicted. I thought it was a charming superstition as a child, but as an adult I realize how deeply ingrained these traditions are, and I find them culturally and spiritually fascinating.
I have had several readings from AIRR workers and have been amazed by them all...they are lovely and truly gifted people. I'm working with one of them on a current situation and learning quite a bit in the process. These forums have also been a treasure of advice and information and I am grateful to have found this place. My LM supplies are multiplying rapidly and I'm looking forward to taking cat's course in the new year.
I just wanted to say hello and I hope to get to know you all. Thank you for making me feel welcomed, as I really feel I have found a home here.
