2011: May 7-8 MISC Hoodoo Heritage Festival Workshops

I sincerely hope I will be able to attend next year's Church Workshops event. I wish I lived closer. At least I have plenty of time to draw and save money to get to this event.
Here's a question. Should I set up a babysitter if I am to attend the event next year? I noticed the announcement for last years event was "dog friendly." But is it kid friendly? My little ones generally go everywhere with me.

But I saw the updates on the workshop page and got all excited. I've never been to a magical workshop EVER. I've always worked alone and "cyber"-ishly. Ok....back to patiently waiting

I am RSVPing YES... working, and working and working and I have a great cute story about Blue Flag Root and a "tornado"... It's cute and good! I have not been this busy in two years!!! Sales posts, I'm there. I am speaking and typing words into power. I will be there.
What a rollercoaster of a week, a Blessed much needed week.

Wish I could take the apprentice classes, but that's for next year!!!
Can't wait to see everyone!

In answer to quesries:
Yes, we are baby-friendly, kid-friendly, AND dog-friendly. We also have a large dog run for dogs who need a "time out."
The biggest problem, every year is PARKING. We have limited parking and the bulk of folks will have to walk a block or two to get here. Drop your things off on the driveway and get help shlepping up the driveway -- that's usually the best way. We also have limited "valet" parking -- meaning that if you arrive early enough to park on the premnises or have disabled folks who cannot walk far, Don will park your van FOR you so that you don't take out the driveway fence!
As always, call Robin Petersen at the shop, Tuesday through Saturday, for sign-ups to pre-register for limited-attendance workshops.
First deadline -- APRIL 10 is the absolute deadline for entries in the 2nd Annual Hoodoo Foods recipe booklet -- whether or not you are bringing said food to the conjure cook-off for judging.
Get those recipes in NOW! Send them to
robin@luckymojo.com because the 2011 Hoodoo Foods cook book goes to press IMMEDIATELY after April 10th! See
http://luckymojo.com/conjurecookoff.html
for further details about Cooking With Conjure! .

Yiiii! I just decided on a Conjure Cookoff recipe a couple weeks ago -- a mashup of I-can't-tell-you and never-you-mind -- it's going to be delicious as well as powerful, that's all I can tell you. And hot -- I'm going to make it Kioni-hot, if I can!

My wife Sara and I would love to know if there is a place/person to contact about RSVP'ing particular workshops??? We are already set to go up there (hotel in guerneville, rental car, etc) for Workshop Weekend but were worried that we were missing out on the RSVP listing thing!? Any news yet???
Thank you in advance,

I think in her earlier post, Miss Cat said to call Sis Robin at the shop for limited attendance workshop pre-registration. I'm assuming limited attendance means the ones where they are going to be using supplies, so perhaps the ones that don't wouldn't require pre-registering.

Before we can RSVP we need to know if the times of the workshops have been finalized! I would not want to waste someones spot by RSVP'ing a workshop that is first thing Saturday morning....as we will be driving up that morning and might miss the first one or two!
Thank you,

Hello everyone. I am RSVP'n for the workshop. Doing all I can to open the door for complete resources. I would like to offer the opportunity for someone to room with me. I am traveling in from Chicago on the 6th, and staying through the 9th. I chose the Chase Inn B&B. Mainly due to them being the first on the recommend list, and the fact that they had an available room. There is only one bed so I recommend bringing a sleeping bag. Unfortunately mine got destroyed in Honduras:(. At any rate let me know if anyone in interested. Bliss.

I already sent an email to Miss Robin about attending the last segment of the apprenticeship.
I'm interested in attending the following workshops:
- Making Doll-Babies for Ritual Use
- How To Make A Mirror Box
- Professional Reading and Root Doctoring
- Palo Road-Opening Ceremony in the Congo-Cuban African Diasporic Tradition
I hope to fly home either Saturday night or early Sunday a.m., and it would be very helpful if the classes' dates and times were posted so I can plan my flight accordingly.
Best,

Please see the April Newsletter for the TIMES of workshops.
http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs00 ... 44773.html
One correction to that newsletter: Dr. Kioni's Macuto Workshop will be $50.00, not $35.00 as previously listed.
Once you have selected your workshops, then email the shop --
order@luckymojo.com
or telephone the shop:
707-887-1521
and ask for Della, Robin, or Angela to get you SIGNED UP.
Most of the workshops have open enrollment, but some will be limited to pre-signups because the materials supplied will be based on the number of pre-registrations, and if you did not pre-sign up, there will not be enough materials for you!

1:00 PM - Making a Consecrated Palo Protection Amulet
Want to Attend but...
The description says: "...Making a Consecrated Palo Protection Amulet in a seashell for you to take home and bury at your doorstep. "
My questions: If you cannot bury this at your doorstep is it not advisable to take this class and make the amulet? Does it have to be buried at the door step? I am not subscribed to Palo so is this training designed to allow one to make these for yourself/others in the future or is it a one time thing for your personal use only?
4:00 PM - Become a Professional Reader and Root Doctor
Will Attend
=================================================
Sunday, May 8, 2011
12:30 PM - Making and Working With Mirror Boxes
May attend if I arrive on time and space/material is available.
2:00 PM - Introducing: The Crystal Silence League
Will Attend
3:30 PM Sangoma Bone Reading
Will Attend

Unfortunately, I could not attend the recent workshops; though, I had hoped to. Of particular interest to me were the descriptions of Valentina Burton's "Professional Reading and Root Doctoring" presentation and the revival of the Crystal Silence League. Very interesting, indeed. Will the information about these two workshops be available in any other medium (left over textbooks that could be purchased, etc.)?

Hello, folks --
To answer your qwuestion: the presenters put a lot of energy into their workshop presentations. In all cases flyers are produced for distribution, and in some cases, there are booklets or books.
The workshops are in-person presentations and in many cases, the material is designed to be accompanied by a lecture and/or a hands-on demonstration.
If you cannot attend,, you may inquire of the individual presenters whether they have additional flyers or books for sale after the event. Some do and some do not.
In the case of books published by Missionary Independent Spiritual Church, additional materials are always available after our events and you may purchase the books from the church or from Lucky Mojo, which bulk-purchases books from the church for re-distribution at cover price.
Good luck in all your works!

Greetings all!!! I have just returned from beautiful California and a week in Forestville, and wanted to share with many of you, hoping that this share will start you planning for next May.
The first thing I would like to share is an overall Thank You to Miss Cat, Nagasiva, The Entire Church Staff, Members of AIRR, graduates, students, practitioners, deacons, and all -- everyone ... We have a FABULOUS Community!!!!
In the excitement of leading up to the workshops, meeting and greeting with like minded greatness, centralized power in one place...Whatever You think they might be, however great you know they will be... multiply it by 100. Think of you as a child anticipating Disney for the first time, and when you are there it is everything you knew it would be and MORE!!!
The Workshops were GRAND in font 72!!! You go to attend and to learn and share and you walk away with, (especially if you are doing the apprenticeship leading up to the weekend) you go there and you come back a different person. You come back enlightented and refreshed and so full of knowledge you feel like you want to burst!!! You are full!!!
You have an opportunity to meet many individuals who share in what we do, who we are and what we proudly represent. You get a chance to learn from the BEST. You get a chance to sit down and see many of the people who do readings and work for you. You get a chance to fellowship with everyone. You get and you receive a wealth of information.
I have traveled, and I like to travel. I have enjoyed adult trips for ME. This was the best trip ever!!! I came home from a back to back getaway a different person. So something like this can assist you in your journey, please make it a point to be there. You will meet friends, Members of AIRR, of course Nagasiva and Miss Cat and the staff at the church, and you will get a chance to LEARN.
Plan for next May. Make it happen!!! You can do it!!! You have the knowledge and the tools...so see you there

It was a pleasure to be there!!!
