Thanks!

Also, does it count if day I burn the candle at midnight on a Friday? I’m thinking of starting the spells tonight at midnight. This will ensure that I can burn the candles/repeat the chant at the same time every night (I get off work at 11 and don’t get home until 12). Can I also back up the reconciliation and sweetening work with a love drawing spell?

Also, since I’m burning them every mon, wed, and fri... when do I actually stop the work? After a week or two?

VenusRising777,

You can burn the candles on it as long as you like. A honey jar is a mix of two spells, a honey jar, which is a container spell, and a candle spell on top of it. They work great together and often are used together. I would work it till you get the results you want. Some people burn a candle for a while, a few times a week, then move to once a week, then once a month. Option is yours.

I have what may sound like a dumb question because I'm new. I ordered a glass-encased candle, do I burn it 24/7?

GolfersWife --

That is up to you and depends on how safe the candle will be if you are not around to attend to it. For instance, folks with a fireplace often light the candle in the fireplace, so it is vented and the smoke goes up the chimney. But if you expect to light it and put it out repeatedly, you will need long fireplace matches or some other means of conveying the fire down inside as the wax gets low.

I have ordered both an intranquility candle and oil, can I use them together? If not can I send the candle back and pay to have it burned there at your store?

GolfersWife --

Our candles come already dressed, so you can use the oil some other way -- go to the section of the forum on oils for tips -- but i recommend you not try to send the candle back; it's just too fussy and complicated. we can burn another one for you, if you like -- and there is a section of the forum about that topic as well.

Hi all!

I apologise if this has been asked before but I have a question about dressing candles and colours.

Basically I want to work with the waning moon which I have never done before, so ideally banishing things away. My question. Is how to structure candle burnings to harmonise with this?

For example:

To bring in money/remove blocks, would you use an uncrossing oil on a green candle?
Or burn a banishing candle for the debt and burn an attraction candle as you normally would with it?

Or for love would you do like a love uncrossing on a pink candle with an uncrossing or clearing/healing oil solo and and then do something to draw love in come the new moon?

I guess it’s best not to ‘cross the wires’ but i am just asking as I am trying to be more creative with my workings as I learn and not just sit twiddling my thumbs for the new moon each time I want to bring something in. I know moon phase working aren’t strictly hoodoo, but I figure if I can maximise my efforts by working with the flow as much as I can then It can’t hurt.

Thank you for your help and all input is appreciated ❤️

Hey there, Tphillips16

That's a very good question and I like that you're trying to be creative with your workings. I think I have an answer you may find satisfactory.

If you are wanting to work with the waning moon for love, per se, you could burn candles to banish bad habits that you may be self-aware of. For example, attitudinal problems, stubbornness, resentment, abandonment, temperament issues and even unresolved relationships or people in your life that might impede your new lover from entering into your life or cause problems in a new relationship. Anything that would be of detriment to a blossoming love affair you could work to rid yourself of. Clear the path of obstacles and debris so that the one you draw to you will have a clear road to you.

If you are working on money situations, you could burn to banish bad spending habits such as impulse buying and excessive spending. You would want to banish any foreseeable challenges that could stand in the way of you and your desires.

One method would be to inscribe a black candle with the name of what you want to do away with written from top to bottom. You can dress it with banishing oils like Banishing, D.U.M.E., Hot Foot, etc in the same manner or you can use the the more common method of dressing them according to their polarity, taking special care to anoint the two ends of the candle pointed AWAY from you.

Another method is similar but instead of using a black candle you could get a candle of a colour that represents that which you want to banish. So for instance, impulse spending or splurging has to do with passions. Passions are represented by the colour red. So you can get a red candle and write from top to bottom what those passions are that you have little to no control over, dress in the same manner as you would the black, and burn.

I hope this helps. :-)

Question about figural candles and lottery tickets/petitions:

If I'm doing a green devil candle burning, am I rubbing the oil up toward the wick or down toward the ticket? It seems like normally it would be upward for attraction and downward for banishment but I'm not sure what the attraction element is in this case. I'm using Good Luck Oil, Lady Luck Oil and Lucky 13 Oil.

cognitivedissonance ,

A green devil candle can be dressed by pouring the oil over its head and onto the body or dress it from the bottom to top to draw to you. Then I would place it on the petition paper, tickets or gambling item.

Hi y'all! I should have asked this ahead of time before ordering but I'm a Sagittarius and impatient  . I ordered a love me honey jar kit and got 3 dressed glass candles to set up as a triangle around it. I got 2 pink candles dressed for dixie of love and stay with me, then a red dressed with come to me. I am thinking the order I will set it up is Dixie of Love at the top, Come to Me to the right, then Stay with me to the left. Is that a good order or should I adjust it? Like flip the Come to Me and Dixie of Love? My goal was to draw a specific individual to me and build a long lasting love foundation. First I need to bring him to me to communicate more than the rest can fall into place. Thank you!

lostinbigd ,

You can set it how you deem fit, when I do sets of candles like that I set them in the order of how the story plays out: Come to me, dixie love stay with me. But that is my preference. Have the triangle point facing you as to direct the person to you.

Hello lostinbigd,

I would not burn them all at the same time. Work in stages, and as your relationship progresses, move on to the next step. So start with Come to Me, and once he's with you, then work Dixie Love or Stay With Me to keep your relationship strong.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi all

I have a question regarding dressing candles. I'd like to work a candle spell to supplement my honey jar, but my oils and powders aren't here yet (LM's current turn around is 3 wks + intl. shipping, patience, patience). I know that you can't replace condition oils, but I have herbs and was wondering if I could use them without the oils at this point? Perhaps by dressing the candle with olive oil and rolling it in crushed herbs?

pollen ,

You can roll a candle in crushed herbs, even melt wax and roll it in herbs as a method of preparing it, then add olive oil that was prayed over Psalms 23 into the oil. In general its called double dressing candles: take a candle dress it with oil then roll it in powder, then triple dress it to roll in wax and herbs, fun to make but can be a messy project.

Hi JayDee

Thank you for your advice! Sorry I'm a bit dense.. but what did you mean by melt wax and roll it in herbs? Like melting another candle and letting the wax pool so I can add herbs then envelope this wax sheet around the offertory candle?

pollen,

Well yes, you can do it that way, or melt wax in a pan and then roll it in wax roll it in the herb or powder. I sometimes use throw away pan to do that makes clean up easy. You can buy wax or melt a candle to do it, or use left over wax from other candles.

My black back to back divorce candle has a heart shaped base but no candle in the middle( like what is sold on luckymojo), so I can't go by the instructions here. Do I still break the candles apart right before it goes out or anytime in the middle of the candles burning? The space in the middle of the candles is too small for me to write on their backs so I write the names on their side, right? Then his (my lover) name on the opposite side of the other candle? Thank you

Hello, Musclequeen378.

I hope you are in good spirits. You can use the same instructions, but tailor it to your situation. One of the great parts of hoodoo is that you can fit any ritual to meet your needs. Go with your intuition. Good luck!

Hello musclequeen378,

No, if this is the candle I believe it is, it will have a wick on top of the heads of both people. Light those, don't break the candle apart.

Write alongside the sides of the people in the candle. You have that part right.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

You can deploy it by burying it where your target will walk over it. Alternatively, deploy it in running water.

sorry let me clarify the situation: This is a separation spell to get the target who is my ex (but we're still romantically linked) to stay away from other females. Also, he currently lives 2000 miles away, so I can't put it where he walks unfortunately.

mastersirius678 --

Yes, you can!

My favourite way to dress tea lights is to

1) Pop the candle wax out of the cup, write my petition directly in the inside of the cup, rub the inside of the cup with oil.

2) Take the wick out of the wax, dip it in the oil, then insert the wick back in the wax and the wax back in the cup.

3) Finish by drawing or writing on the surface of the wax with a needle and running oil into that as well.

That is a TRIPLE-DRESSED candle!

Hello, to all I have a quick question to ask. I'm looking to do a trio of candies, but want to make sure I'm selecting the correct ones. I am looking to remove blockages from my life such as financial, most importantly, spiritual, and emotional. I have struggled for four months to find employment, facing eviction, and my car has broken down. I am also having trouble in my relationship as well, any 3 candle recommendations to suggest that will fit my situation. I'm grateful for any response and help, thank you.

Hello QuoteTheRaven,

I would do a sequence starting with Block Buster to blast through any obstacles in your way, then Road Opener to smooth the path before you, then end with Attraction to draw in the good things you desire in these areas of your life.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hello nino_x3,

You baptize it in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and give it the name of your target. Carve their name and birthdate on the back neck of the candle.

You do not need to use water or sage to do it but can use these items if desired. Go back and read through this thread starting from the beginning and you will see that this question has already been asked and answered several times.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Re: Candles: How to Trim Carve Load Petition Pray Dress Arrange Light

Unread post by Cinammon12 » Sun Nov 22, 2020 4:21 pm

I wanted to stop to post about dressing my candles and my petition papers with both herbs and oils.

Back when i was a kid my grandmother would teach me about what sertain herbs do as far as cooking goes or how to use a simple mineral like Salt, i fear without her teachings i would have jinxed myself along time ago. Ive learned that you can dressing anything that you use no matter if you are conjuring something or simply using it in a tea or food. I've seen the difference in my workings when and if i don't use them at all. They seem to be diluted in power.

Since I've ordered Candle magic in hoodoo i have been able to watch and observe how the flame reacts to the oil or powder. Now, with that being said i say this, when i dress my candles with herbs are they supposed to be in a grounded down form or so i leave them whole when i roll my candle into the herbs?

I will say that so far im learning alot about what you can do with different herbs dried or fresh.

Thank you for your book Hoodoo Herb and Root magic ;)

Cinammon12,

Welcome to the forum. I moved your post to this thread on working with candles. I have to ask that you do not create new topics. Instead, please use the search bar to find the correct thread on your subject of interest. If you still have questions after you read it through, use the Quick Reply at the bottom of the page. We will be glad to help.

Herbs should be ground down or else may become a fire hazard. If you have a fat candle it is less of a worry but if the herbs will be close to the wick like on a taper candle, you may see them start to burn as well. The end result is a huge flaming mess.

One way to work is to melt extra wax on some foil using the oven. Sprinkle in herbs and powders before it hardens and roll the regular candle in it to form an extra layer around it. Please read this thread for more ideas on working with candles.

Good Luck!

Use in Magic:
This ground-breaking work was originally sold via ads in Black-owned newspapers, and it opened up a nation-wide conversation on the increasing importance of conjure work with candles. The author was a participant-observer and documentarian who respectfully verified the sources of his information from workers in the African-American Spiritual Church Movement, to compile a complete manual of home and church altar candle services for use in churches and by home practitioners. This famous hoodoo grimoire contains more than 50 candle and lamp spells for protection, love, wealth, and luck. Now, with 32 additional illustrated pages by editor catherine yronwode, The Guiding Light is back in print, bigger and better than ever. Chapters include: How to Set Up a Candle Altar, One-Candle Rites with Psalms, Seven-Candle Planetary Rites, Eight-Candle Sacred Octaves, Nine-Candle Catholic Novenas, Ten Ancient Oil Lamp Devotions, Twelve-Candle Zodiacal Rituals, How to Use Seals with Candles, and Candle-Magic Around the World. An inspirational occult classic, it remains a popular source-book to this day.

I have read through how to load candles, I apologize if I have read over the question and answer. I found it hard to poke holes in the 7-day glass-encased candles the wax is often challenging. Can I use a lighter to soften the wax so it will be easier to poke the hole in the candle?

cbishop,

Different works do this differently. One way to do it is to take a sharp narrow object like a skewer, or a screwdriver, then poke the holes in the wax.

Hi Cbishop,

To add to what JayDee said, the hole does not need to go all the way down. An inch or so from the top is good, it's meant to drain the oil away from the wick. I use a stake knife and make 3 slits, but as JayDee said each worker is different.

Best of luck,
Mr. Christopher

Hello, I hope someone can help me out. I bought a Glass candle and somehow the candle, allthough it is thought to be losse for taking it out of the glass and dressing it, is somehow stuck in the glas.. I tried everything to get the candle out of the glas.. warm water, knife.. it just somehow holds on tight Like a vacuum.. but without removing the candle out of the glas I can't properly dress it with the oil and herbs.. any tips please? :?

Lui1234 --

Glass candles, also called vigil lights, are made by pouring hot liquid wax into the glass. The wax is not "loose" and cannot be taken out of the glass. They are dressed by poking holes in the top of the wax and adding a fop of dressing oil and a sprinkle of herbs and, optionally, some glitter. The candle burns inside the glass.

Information on how to dress candles can be found here:

We sell all of our vigil candles dressed and blessed -- so all you have to do is light them.

One of the best books ever written about how to use candles of different types -- how to adapt single candles, groups of candles, and series of candles to your spell desires -- is "The Guiding Light," and here's a one-hour workshop that i put together on the topic:

"The Guiding Light to Power and Success" with Catherine Yronwode

This video teaches many old-school ways to perform candle spells and devotions, based on Catherine Yronwode's newly revised, expanded, and illustrated edition of Mikhail Strabo's famed 1942 course in candle-magic, "The Guiding Light to Power and Success: A Study of the Use of Candles in the Search for the Truth." This is the fifth book in the "Lucky Mojo Library of Occult Classics," a project that preserves and presents rare mid-20th century texts on traditional "drug store hoodoo."

It's Facebook Fridays! for July 28, 2023. Today we debut our new Candle Dressing Herb Packets -- and you can win free samples! Court Case and Power Herbs Mixtures are custom blends we have privately used for years to enhance legal work and personal power for our clients.

Image

The Lucky Mojo Curio Company is holding a random drawing to give away 4 sets of our newest Herbs Mixtures straight from our own candle-dressing station to you! Use custom-blended herb mixtures to dress candles, burn with incense, scatter as floor or yard sprinkles, brew bath-teas and floor washes, carry in mojo hands and conjure bags, hide in bed-packets, or include within bottle, jar, bowl, box, or freezer spells.

To enter the giveaway, click this link https://facebook.com/LuckyMojoCurio to get to the LMCCo FB page. Then like the page and leave a comment. Emojis don't count and the quality and style of the content will be taken into consideration when making the award.

Tomorrow, we will select FOUR winners at random, announce their names here, and ask them to message this Facebook Page with their mailing addresses, so we can send them their FREE Herb Mixture Packs.

Please note: If you receive a reply to your contest-entry comment with a notice to go to a fake page that looks like our official page (the URL is a string of numbers, not our name) and if you give them your credit card number, you will be charged by them! This contest is a giveaway -- there is never any charge to the winners. Furthermore, the Lucky Mojo Curio Company does not ask anyone for a credit card via social media, ever. Lucky Mojo only accepts credit cards at our secure shopping cart site on the world wide web. These fake replies to contest entries are a FRAUD and a SCAM. We report scam accounts and postings to Facebook administration and encourage you to do so also.
