Saint Dymphna Vigil Candle Questions and Answers

Hi folks
I purchased a glass jar candle for Saint Dymphna a while ago. I have not felt ready to use it, until now. (I assume it's still good, the herbs/oils etc. It has been sitting on my window sill, still covered with the clingfilm that LM sent it with.)
I am hoping for some guidance on using it. What is the best day to start burning it? What is the best planetary hour to pray with it?
Thanks in advance.

You could set it working on a Sunday in the hour of the Sun to bring in the healing and holy energies of that day and time. However, you can light it whenever you wish. I've found St. Dymphna to be very kind and eager to help, so you don't need to go to a great deal of fancy ritual effort to enlist her aid.

Since Saint Dymphna assists those with mental illness as well as other problems, some people light her candle on a Monday, the day of Luna, the Moon -- for, as you probably know, mental illness was once thought to be ruled by the Moon's phases, and was therefore called lunacy.

Thanks folks. I think I'd better wait until the moon is waxing again. I wish I hadn't put this off and started back when I asked.
While I wait for that moon, can I ask how Saint Dymphna likes to be paid? She is not as easy to find out about as St Expedite!
Thanks for the assistance.

You can start this at any time. If you can't wait for the moon, then start as the sunrises (just like the moon is waxing) or you can start with the days of the week. Don't let the moon phases stop you especially if this is something you need to work on now.

This is quoted from the info page above
Dymphna is always shown holding a Bible, indicating her faithfulness to the word of God. A lily indiactes that she died as a virgin. The Celtic harp and four leaf clover on the cover of the Bible, along with her green clothing, indicate her Irish origins.
I like to thank her with lillies, but perhaps a small bible, a simple thank you, donation to a non profit dealing with people in mental illnesses, incest, or rape, or you can even buy her a prayer card, or small statue are all things you can do to thank her.

Make a donation to the St. Dymphna National Shrine for payment, or to any Soteria-type therapy/recovery centers for the mentally ill (since that is the type of care she is associated with, and that they provide in Gheel where she is from).

Saint Dymphna, the patron saint of mental distress and illness, as well as of the victims and survivors of rape, incest, and sexual assault, is a compassionate and helpful intercessor. Her aid is sought by the parents and family of those who live with mental illness, and by those who are working their way though the pain and suffering of sexual abuse.
Do not be afraid to call on her for aid. She is there to witness and to support those in despair.
