Hello this is my first time doing a fixed candle. Im on day 4. Today i notice 2 black burn spots in the middle of the candle jar. Each morning I turn on the candle and pray. I turn it off when I leave the house I apologize for turning it off I promise once I'm home I turn it on again. Should I stop turning it because of the 2 black spots? So far the glass is clear and clean. Thanks.

Hello, amypalgreen1987, and welcome to the Lucky Mojo Forum!
Glass votive candles are designed to burn continuously. This is why they are called "vigil lgights" -- because you are thought to be keeping a vigil while burning them.
If, for safety reasons, you decide to extinuish them when you are out of the hosue, that is perfectly fine -- but they will develop spots of soot and smoke where you replight them. When that happens, it has no "meaning" because all it means is that the candle cannot be read for an omen, since extinguishing and relighting interfered with the natural smoke pattern.
Best of luck to you!

Amypalgreen1987 -
The glass can be recycled.
If you have significant herbals or wax remnants, dispose of it in a manner that is beneficial to your work. See here -

Hope this helps!

What kind of flowers I should put after the wax is completely gone? Is white roses appropriate for the holy family?

Hi amypalgreen1987,
That would be a lovely tribute. I also sometimes use white lilies for divine assistance when I can find them but your choice is beautiful.
Take care.

Our prepared 8" glass-encased vigil lights come with a dressing of oils and herbs and will burn for 5 - 7 days, depending on ambient temperature and other factors.
If you wish to set a traditional Novena of nine days, you will either have to start and stop the candle (which can result in a smoky glass), or purchase two candles to run continually over the 9-day period.
Always practice fire safety when setting vigil lights. If you must keep them lit when you are away or asleep, be sure that no pets or children can get into the room with them, that they are not near curtains or flammable cloth or paper, and that you have a smoke alarm in your house. Placing lit vigils in the bathtub is quite common, but you must not have a shower curtain if you use this method. Setting them into a fireplace is ideal, as there is a ready-made chimney for them.
